Thank you! Was able to replace fan and upgrade RAM. Keep my laptop hopefully an extra year or two for an extra $30.

I knew last year's ssd prices were to good to last! I think they overproduced, and now the prices are going back up. Good thing I grabbed a couple spares.

Thanks for the video. Can I still use this kind of laptop if i removed the battery and just use it plugged? Is that safe? Thanks for the response

Try it. Should be fine if it doesn't work. Just don't pull the plug while it's running.

Question? I have the same laptop and im using it as a school laptop since i recived it for free, with the battery only haveing a 33.9 WH battery (3000-3500 Mah), do they sell a bigger battery that is compatible with this?

How can i fix boot device not found? Ive watched and tried so many things but none of them seem to work. Legacy support, loading default bios settings, and i cant really install windows because i currently dont have a USB that i can use. So im just gonna assume that its my hard drive that is the problem, so ill follows these steps to get to it.

@Binh, moderators on HP's forums seem certain that the Hard Drive cannot be replaced on these models and a full motherboard swap out is need if the drive goes bad. But you quickly remove a module that you refer to as the SSD (these models use a 64 GB eMMC. Can you reconcile this? Can the Drive just be replaced? Thank You for helping me fix a friends laptop.

Please watch the whole video. You'll learn a lot. You basically answered it yourself though.

I followed the up request to upgrade my bios. Bad move! Now I have a charge light on and I have a power on light on the left. Nothing else.
How can I reset my bios?
Sorry. It is the up 14-dk000dx.
    Thank you.
    Jon

Sounds like you might not have let the bios update complete and restart on its own. If you force powered it off because it was taking too long, you might have killed the bios chip.
If you're lucky, disconnecting the battery and holding the power button for 15 seconds, then reassembling might fix it.
