Setting loose drag enables the squid to pull back line. This is important because if you have it too tight and a squid pulses backwards you can rip a tentacle off and lose the squid :) so important to have it loose enough so the squid can pull back line easily but tight enough to still get it in!

You don’t have to jerk the rod like that, just reel the line and then stop for a few second then repeat
