The new Essential versions sport a very similar design to the originals, complete with OLED screens and that Always On Display. You've got the same sensor tech for tracking your heart rate, SPO2 levels and other fitness stats. Plus of course full notifications support.
In fact, the Amazfit GTS 2e and GTR 2e also boast a new temperature sensor, and improved battery life. They're among the best smartwatches in 2021 for longevity, offering 2-3 weeks of life per charge.
You only lose a few features vs the older watches, including on-board music support and speakers.

GTS 2 mini is a very underrated gem. I returned my Galaxy watch 4 and got this. I spent over $250 on a bunch of features and useless stuff I will never need. Got the Amazfit for 3x less cost and it has everything you need, and nothing you dont.

Why not chose the GTS2e man? It has slight bigger and higher refresh rate right, better build quality.

I've been a very happy Amazfit T-Rex user for almost a year now. Amazfit stuff is top notch and the app is great.
I bought the Amazfit T-Rex last November and believe me it is absolutely superb. I'm a Casio G-Shock fan and hence the watch really appealed to me, it truly is robust and performs better than most more expensive watches out there.
I bought T Rex last year December and sold it a week ago, upgraded to T Rex Pro..
I myself am a big fan of G Shock and this watch is robust as hell..
Trust me, if u get a chance, upgrade to T Rex pro... It a worthy upgrade with tons of options, more robust than T Rex and many more functions... I really am loving it..
I had Samsung Gear S3 frontier watch earlier, moving to T Rex and subsequently T Rex Pro was the best decision i made

Honestly between those 2 I'd go for the mini. A lot of the features on the larger model are irrelevant and even though they are there they don't work that well. The mini has a better battery life which is cool and has everything that I would need in a watch. The fitness stuff is rather good and the ability to read messages is such a game changer. Defo the mini!! Hope that helps:)

I picked up the GTS 2 mini a few weeks ago. Working out how to maximise battery life at the moment as the claims of lasting 14-21 days are so far highly inaccurate! Stunning watch though and love the selection of faces.
How long does the battery last in your experience? If it last at 1 week its more than enough for me to be honest.

I wonder if the smartwatch reviews could show how the notification works for main apps - WhatsApp, SMS, Twitter - as to me this is one of the main uses for a smartwatch.
I have the GTS 2 and really do like it's form and function, but there really needs to be more watch faces. It's a bummer that the faces from the GTS 1 don't work on the 2

First of all thank you for the great preview.
I pre-ordered the GTS 2 mini for € 89 and hope I won't regret it. Fortunately, there is a 14-day return policy.
I have a relatively narrow wrist for my size and stature and therefore often have problems with heavy and wide watches.
The GTR 42mm already did me good with 26 grams and I hope the mini wears even better with less than 20 grams.
The GTS 2 was still too expensive for what it can do. After all, you can get smartwatches for less than € 200 with Google pay, which is more important to me personally than making phone calls with the watch. I only stream music anyway, so the internal memory is of no use to me.
The GTS 2e could still be interesting. If the watch only costs € 30 more than the GTS 2 mini, it would be worth considering for me because of the better workmanship.
However, I still can't bring myself to pay more than € 200 for a smartwatch because, unlike a good analogue watch, they are more commodity than fashion or collector's item. The software will eventually become outdated and the battery will run down.
That's why I always welcome reviews of affordable smartwatches on your channel. 👍

How is 1.39" bigger than 1.65"? It does look bigger, but the GTR 2e is supposed to be the smaller one.
The GTS 2e also has a higher pixel density with a smaller resolution and a bigger screen which makes no sense. I guess it has to do with how the diameter is measured?

Seems like a good featured watch. I'd like to see a video on the accuracy of the heart rate monitor. The heart rate monitor on my Fitbit Ionic normally reads much higher than my actual heart rate. Plus, Fitbit recommends wearing the watch one or two finger widths above the wrist bone. That's really not comfortable and the watch has a tendency to slide towards the wrist bone. What's the recommended wearing position on the Amazfit?
Overall, a great review. Hopefully, a followup video on accuracy of stats measurements will be forthcoming.

Many Thanks for great comparison and breakdown as always, but I won't be upgrading my Bip (Work) or Pace (Home) anytime soon because I'm too attached to the transflective display - no idea why every watch doesn't have it. Once you've had a watch with it in sunlight (remember that?!) you really can't do without it.
One thing I don't like about the Zepp app - it forces you to manually switch between watches to choose the 'active' one, which means every time you change watch you have to remember to switch in the app or you won't get notifications. Small but annoying issue, which I get round by using Mi Fit for the bip and Zepp for the Pace, but it's a bodge...

Get Huawei
Huawei has a more polished interface. But less accurate heartrate and spo2 measurements. Bit more sturdy looking than amazfit. Besides these remarks the watches are VERY similar. The software that comes with it is far more important. Check that for best informed decision. :)
Curious about how accurate the temperature monitor is. I’m looking specifically for something that can track body temp while sleeping. That watch said your body temp was 81.7 F, which is much lower than the standard 98.6 +/-. Does the accuracy increase when monitoring for a period of time? Or do you have recommendations for a wearable body temperature monitor?

Have an original gtr so is it worth the upgrade. The gtr heart sensor can be a bit all over the place especially at high heart rates. Is is better on the new model
Didnt like that they put time scales on the two R models, since if u use a watch face, theres like an extended time scales on the screen itself.

Sorry i didnt understand, does original gts 2 has temperature sensor? Youbsaid all of them have same sensor unit.
The gts2e does not pass more than 4 days of battery life, with half of the features activated, if anyone says otherwise is just lying!
Why is it recommended to choose the US to set it up?
Can you deactivate hear rate monitor completely on the gtr2 E? Or does it always have to stay on?
I can see those side buttons getting pressed easily, I work outside in a physical job, I can tell within an hr I check my phone and it's started a workout. I hope not as I do like the look of them.
