I'm watching this tutorial again... I'm really keen to paint along as an exercise in speading up my process. A small painting like this takes me very long...I might break it up over 4 or 5 days. I still need to get braver in my lower layers.

I have a question for you. When creating a white cat in pastels, would you recommend doing a dark black-ish background?
With white I've done many colours of background. The important thing is contrast and really white can contrast against a lot of colours. But yes in theory the darker the background the more contrast there would be.

Yes I use a few different papers and I could probably do this on any of them. You might get a slightly different result, but it's totally possible to work along.
