    • @MD-722
      @MD-722 Год назад +5

      @sahej6939 It's not so much the nostalgia factor alone, but moreso what Eileen Ford said at the end following Christy Turlington's comment-- _"Boomers don't want to look at teenagers."_ The _"boomers"_ were in their late 30s to very early 40s back then.
      So now the women who were the same ages as the supers clearly seem to have followed suit, as they're in their late 40s to late 50s. That, and due to their ages a significant amount more can actually afford some of the products their favourite models are advertising.
      Back in the 90s it was a lot harder to stay relevant past a certain point because one needed "the machine" to do so. But now once a celebrity has hit the saturation stage of their _product life cycle_ at the top of the mainstream, there is much more opportunity to still make a lucrative living appealing to their specific niches.

    The women who said Baby Boomers don't want to look at teenagers was spot on but it resonates for other generations as well. I respond better to advertising and fashion on women who are older or closer in age to me. A 15 year old can't really sell me anything cause I'm distracted by them looking like a kid. I also don't think people peak physically as a teen. Most ppl look better into their 20s and even 30s *gasp*. I feel like the fixation on model age was a male invention since males dominated the design and business side of the industry for a long time.

    I think this genderation of models is the best because you take the factor of social media out. meaning there isn't a big opportunity to compare each other or being able to have a huge audience that can reach and sway opinion. Models weren't famous based on their family or status you worked and were chosen off of experience

    @elinat2414 Год назад +22

    For the average no-name runway model, sure, you are usually done by 25.
    However, the iconic models of the 90s can still be modelling, because they trade off their name/brand, rather than just their pretty but anonymous face.

    • @jamilgotcher365

      I wasn't even a famous model because I chose to be married and have a child at a young age but I was still being selected out of my modeling agency when I was age 26 to model in Paris for the Haute Couture shows, I went to Paris with my 2 year old and my mother and landed 3 Haute Couture shows, the biggest name one was for Jean Louis Scherrer, I then was discovered by a top Tokyo modeling agent and went over there under contract and did really well because they promoted me that I had modeled in some of the Haute Couture shows. My point is even though I'm not famous, I'm still trading on my modeling experience and use it to market myself as a photographer. I'm really glad I did modeling, I've been told when I was younger that I looked like Paulina Porikova and Karen Mulder, which makes sense because I was signed with Elite in New York before I got married. Anyway since I'm divorced now, my modeling career really helped me to this very day even if I'm not famous. I got to meet many of the more well known models and walk the runway with them the few times I did model in Europe and Tokyo.

    And today what they spoke here came true and hits really hard. We all knew no youth lasts as much we all knew all the living would die, but how well were we prepared for the actual realistic future?
    Using what you have in "best ways possible" this way before losing is actually making you more attached to it, therefore seeing it fade away from you is more painful, ended up in even more nostalgic pain.
    _I am not what I used to be._
    Submitting your beauty to the whole world's approval slams you to the wall the day the world you gave the best looks of yourself to, behaved to you differently.
    It's because you're no longer that 20s. You are now 40, 50s. You still felt that 20s inside you. But the world judges by what's on your skin.
    Nobody could a love a woman truthfully more than herself, as she's the one who carries her soul inside the changes of her physique.
    And if there is someone else who could admire her lifetime in that beauty and sexual manner, it's none other than the man of her soulmate who chose her for life, not merely for the temporary youth physique.
    You reap what you sow. Aging is nature, and won't hurt that much if you didn't invest the youth age wrongfully for temporary desires.
