    I own and use a older version of the UPS, love it. If you are going to buy Cyber Power, buy this unit. You may not need all it's capability, but with more capacity than you need, but when the power goes down, it is nice to look down and see you have some extra time to save what you are working.

      This unit is designed to run sensitive equipment for a few minutes at higher loads. At lower loads you’re looking at an hour give it take if run time. For longer term grid down look for a solar generator unit. Something like inergy flex or jackery portable power station.

    Have 3 of these as well as a rack mount and they are really nice units and usually around $50-$75 cheaper than APC. They have the same 3-year warranty and their battery replacements are usually a little cheaper too. Early on they didn't have a good reputation and deservedly so because the reliability and quality of their devices just wasn't there. Over the years they have steadily improved to the point their products are every bit as reliable as APC. That old reputation still follows them around though and reddit nerds will stupidity look down their nose at them.

    Thank you!! I am researching UPS. That is a Business model. You can purchase an additional card for remote management. I was close to buying this one but if you don't need remote management or care about the color screen I think the Costco CST 1500S is a better value at $180. It's 100 less watts, has coax in/out surge protection where this model doesn't. But only 2 USB A's. No USB C port. Appreciate you sharing real world use.

  • @KuntalGhosh
    @KuntalGhosh 2 года назад +1

    The avr u explained is for generator field excitation. The avr in this ups is just a transformer that has two extra taps for 80v and 140v so when the voltage falls below 100 it switches to the 80v tap and uses the "auto transformer" effect to bring 120v out and when the voltage goes above 140v it switches to 140v tap and lowers the output voltage again using the auto transformer but if the voltage goes out of range too much then it will switch back to battery power. Some even better units that are called "online ups" takes in the incoming voltage and turns it into dc then turns it into ac again those totally filter out any noise of waveform frequency issues from the incoming supply but those are definitely not need for desktop computers..the smps it self turns the incoming ac to dc and will happily run on anything that gives it enough voltage to run ac or dc doesn't matter.

    I built a high end PC with a 6900XT and 850W PSU. This whole time I've had it connected to an old APC unit that's rated at 450W. I just started playing a game that maxed out my system and it shut off on me. I'd never questioned the actual wattage on these things until now despite always using them to avoid data loss and damage via dirty electricity from the bad quality power we get here.. Just ordered this unit.

I use it to backup the WiFi, network, and security system, etc. I have a smaller APC SC620 for my monitor and desktop. All should be enough until the generator is running.

    Thank you for this video! I just got mine today =] I love it so far. The main thing I was fighting was that the freezer chest and my computer/PC components are plugged into the same outlet. Every time the freeze compressor would kick on/off, it would cause a very noticeable surge, even though I have the computer stuff on a surge protector (Random monitors would lose display for a 3-5 seconds, speakers would make a click/snap noise). No issues now that I have the ups!
    Also, check out PowerPanel Personal or Cloud, if you want to see the UPS information on your computer/phone. The instructions weren't very clear on what software you can use to use the USB Port to PC: "USB communication port allows communication between the USB port on the computer and the UPS unit." You can see the event logs too with the power outages; a nice summary of the past 1, 4, 12 , & 24 weeks; Energy Reporting (estimated energy used in an amount of time you determine); as well as some advanced features: schedule shutdown, Notifications, runtime management, voltage settings, Self-testing, firmware updates, and more.

    This product is a fire hazard. I bought 3 of them and tested. The transformer over heats on battery mode (on grid power outage). Started smoking and burning the any plastic that is touching the transformer. Lucky I was testing it so that I shut it down. Imagine I was not there when and the power goes out! I believe you haven't tested it to the thoroughly running it more than 6 Poorly and unsafely designed product, I would strongly recommend anyone NOT to use this product.

    Questions
    1. If this UPS is fully charged and turned off and is plugged out why does it make the beep sound and won’t come on? It only comes on when it’s plugged into a outlet
    2. Should I keep this plugged in in my outlet always? Would it harm the battery and its life cycle? Or do I need to unplug and turn off when not in use?
    3. How to use this device to make it lost for atleast 6 years? Because the last time I had one of these it’s only lost alittle over a year

    I am considering whether to get this UPS or a Jackery mobile power device (because I will be camping). I see an overlap in functionality, to some extent, comparing the two but I’m afraid I can’t do it all with one device. The Jackery devices are set up for solar input whereas this is not. We do have power failures here in Florida, not to mention ⛈ lightning but I do not need constant power that badly.

    • @FunBubble
      @FunBubble  3 года назад

      for camping the jackery is better. this UPS is meant for running a computer or home theater with clean uninterrupted power.

      Thanks, I was just day dreaming that there would be a convergence of products. The idea that “dirty power” is corrupting music listening or messing with computers is interesting but somewhat doubtful - and very expensive to correct. There is a revolution going on now as people are starting to question power and energy usage in homes and vehicles - where it comes from, is it most efficient, and is it good for the planet.

    Unplugging the power cord from a ups is not a good practice to simulate a power outage because you disconnect the earth connection as well. This can damage equipment connected to the ups battery backup outlet requiring an earth connection. Switching off the circuit breaker is the safer way to simulate a power outage for a ups.

    The software is total garbage.
    If you don't need the auto-shut down feature (the only real reason to use their software) than you don't need to install their software.
    If you want to monitor UPS loads and outputs this can all be done with Hardware Info. Hardware info can access all the device data through USB connection without needing the CyberPower software installed (because as I mentioned the cyberPower software is junk).
    The cyber power monitoring sofware eats up WAY more resources than it has any right too and it has caused system hangs for me.

      You have to connect PC via the USB (maybe network or other) and run UPS software on the PC. Some systems eg TrueNAS Scale, have built in drivers for APC & Cyber Power UPS. This is Pure Sine Wave output on battery, which is better for many devices. Beware: one comment says Fire Risk on battery. I did not notice any glue used on the PCB, but Cyber Power use poor glue on some products, which goes brittle and conductive

    These units are 100% sheer garbage. I've had one for a long time. They work fine for a year or two or three, but once your batteries are no longer able to hold any charge (which *will* happen eventually, guaranteed), then the UPS unit is programmed both to shut itself down and - due to its totally idiotic design - it also, inexplicably, cuts all power to everything that is connected to it.
    So the point being, due to this horrible design flaw, connecting stuff to this UPS is *worse* than not having any UPS at all...because this UPS *will,* in the long run, cause your equipment to be harmed *as if* there was a power outage, even though there wasn't.
    In other words, this product directly *causes* the very same disastrous problem to occur that you are using it in order to *prevent* from ever happening!
    Competitor units from other companies *do not* cut power when the batteries cannot hold a charge any more. But Cyperpower products do (apparently because they were engineered by morons). So best to avoid that brand like the plague they are. Otherwise, you are putting all of your gear at tremendous risk.

      APC batteries will also slowly die as EVERY SINGLE UPS EVER BUILT WILL. You're uninformed.

    Does your unit have a strange oder to it? I opened my new UPS, this exact model, and it smells like new but also has a smell I’m not familiar with.

      @@FunBubble Smell, YES. I've had mine plugged in and running for a couple of weeks and mine it still had an acrid smell to it. It's not nearly as noticeable as it was initially, but I still can feel it my eyes. Decided to stop using in my small office and dedicated it to other devices - as expected smell is gone. Battery leakage? Offgassing, not sure what the reason is, but definitely an issue.
