Don’t forget to be careful when sanding! All of those particles can be breathed in and effect your lungs. Wet sandpaper can be used in a pinch, but a respirator mask is definitely worth the investment if you plan to make these long term. Stay safe and happy crafting ❤️
PS beautiful pins btw!
Thank you so much for your informative comment! I definitely plan on investing in a proper mask for my future projects
These are so frikken cute!!! I can't decide on a favourite... maybe the ones with the shiny golden cheeks.
hehe :D thank you! I can't pick one either. :))) i like them to be different but similar
You can also make yourself a slurry (some small amount of water and clay, adding the clay a little at a time) to fill in cracks and stick pieces of clay together. Thanks for sharing your creativity with us.
Thank you for the tip.i have actually used the slurry method since filming this videoa and it works beautifully ❤️
These are so precious. I adore how the one with the darker green top with many light green stripes over it (top right) came out. I bet so many people would love these as magnets for covering their fridge in cuteness :)
Thank you! Yes i could turn a few of them into magnets . What a great idea!
@@mony1823 Hi there! I use air dry clay. i use two coats of resin based varnish to keep it from breaking :D
I'm so glad I stumbled upon your account!! This whole video is TOO CUTE!
I am so glad you found my channel also! Thank you for watching!
And the music is old school R&B; love it!
I love old school rnb ♥ glad you enjoyed it
Brilliant tutorial 👌I've saved it for later. I have never made clay pins before but will try in the future. I didn't actually know you can just paint on them that easily even with acrylics 😊
Thank you! Yup it's easy to paint on them , however adding a base such as gesso and sandpapering it a bit before makes the surface perfect for painting
I just saw these and oh my goodness they are the cutest ever. Im going to try it.
Awesome! Let me know how it works! :D
They turned out beautiful! I'm in the process of making some clay pins, too!❤
Thank you so much! I saw your cute ringholder also and the bowls you did on instagram. Really love how they turned out
@@AncaPoraIllustration Aw thank you so much! ❤
Really pretty. I especially love the selection of colors!! Also thanks for the clay tips!!
Thank you so much! :D
love this video! I've been looking for a process where i can make pins from clay!
Yay! 🐱 Glad you like it and found it helpful!
So cute! Definitely going to be making a batch as gifts!
Yay :D i would love to see how they turn out!
How cute🐾💙
Thank you! :D
You art is so beautiful, please could you make more like the cats with Air clay. Please 😻
Thank you! Yes i can do that. I just need to plan some future air dry clay projects :D
Those colours are amazing!
Thank you!
I love these so much waa 👏😍
Awwww thank youuuu ♥
❤ I would like to try it one of this days, it's so lovely! ❤
I'd recommend to use a different font color on the text you show during the videos, because when it is white and the background is the same color, it's a little bit complicated to read. So I think that using a different color can works better 😊
Keep your awesome work! I'm glad I found your channel ❤
Thank you so much! I will keep your suggestion about the text color in mind. I am also glad you found my channel. I hope you find interesting things here
Thank you so much ❤️🥺
Thank you ♥
These are so cute :)
Thank you! :D I am so happy you think so !
You have a beautiful channel.
Thank you!
wonderful tutorial !!! one small tiny thing. I can barely read your instructions. the words are white and sometimes the background is white as well...I struggled to read it
Thank you! I will try to fix that in the future! Thanks for the suggestion :D
Wow they turned out amazing! Can you use acrylic paint too?
Thank you! Yes absolutely !
I loved your gouche paints. What brand are they? And what brand of varnish did you use? Would you mind telling us? If I make them, I wouldn't like to spoil the work. I once bought some ultra spar varnish and it left a yellowish tinge onto my projects. I didn't like it at all :-(
Thank you! The gouache paints i use are from Daco which is a romanian brand and i am not sure if you can find it anywhere else besides Romania. But sometimes i use Pebeo gouache paints. Those are pretty good too . The varnish is the Gouache Gloss Varnish from Maimeri. It works great for me.
this video is super helpful! i want to make air dry clay pins, what air dry clay brand do you suggest is best to sell? and which one do you think is better between fimo and das?
I am so happy you found it helpful :D I have been really pleased with the Darwi air dry clay. It's very easy to work with with , easier then with the Das Clay and once it's dry it seems to hold up very well.
I wouldn't be able to say which one is best to sell as i have never sold air dry clay projects but i would personally go for Darwi. Fimo is as far as i know a polymer clay
@@AncaPoraIllustration Thank youu so much!!
Hi! I've been working with air dry clay a lot lately and tried wax paper, a silicone mat, and tempered glass to roll the clay out on. Unfortunately the clay sticks to the silicone and tempered glass and the wax paper is very weak and will usually tear before getting to roll out the clay fully. Any advice on finding a better surface?
Hi there! I usually roll out my clay on a piece of glass or my cutting board. I find that the cutting board works best and try adding some water to your clay to make it less sticky. Hope this helps
Which is better for creating pins? Polymer or air dry?
Both work well but i personally prefer air dry clay because i just find it easier to work with ❤️ but i have seen a lot of pins made from polymer.it depends what you like
do the pin backings stay with this method? ive made the mistake of letting them dry first and i dont know how to make them stick D:
can i use glossy mod podge instead? i plan to paint then with acrylic paints so i'm hesitant to do it
I have personally never tried mod podge but acrylic paint shouldn't be affected by it as it is basically liquid plastic and once it's dry it should be resistant to most types of varnishes . You have to be careful only if you are using water based paints such as gouache or watercolor
Really love the gold accentฅ^•ﻌ•^ฅ✨✨
Thank you ❤️❤️❤️
How fast do I need to model the clay and in how much hours does the clay gets harden. I wnated to work with polymer clay but it needs some baking (which for me is kind of risky) and it would be my first time making clay pins. Can you suggest some air dry clays that are cheap and work fine?
You can take your time with air dry clay . If it does get a bit hard while modeling it just add a bit of water so soften it up. It dries completely in about 48 hours. Most air dry clays are pretty cheap. I recommend the darwi one as it is very easy to model. Polymer clay is a bit on the expensive side . Hope this helped
@@AncaPoraIllustration tysm💖
Would you say that you’re able to put the pins in the back if it’s over bake before they are baked lol? Kinda joking but also serious
I am using air dry clay here so this type of clay doesn't require any baking. so i wouldn't know. because i have not used clay that must be baked.
May I know what gesso is?
Gesso is a type of primer used for canvases to make the paint adhere better to the surface. But i find it works good on clay also
❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
❤️❤️❤️
Can I use Resin UV for the finishing after using gouache?
I have never tried resin before. but if it works with acrylic paint it should work with acryla gouache as well. I am not sure about regular gouache
Anca Pora Illustration it works on acrylic. The problem is im using himi miya gouache, and I still hestitate to pour uv resin on it
What kind of glue did you use to attach the safety pin?
I used Uhu Hart hobby glue :D I suggest getting something specifically for metal or wood . Those tend to last longer
👌👍🤩
What is the brand of the colours you use ?
I used Pebeo Gouache and Finetec Pearlescent watercolors
What are the pins called you placed at the back of clay.? It has one flat surface
I think it;s called pin backs with safety catch
Can it be done to make clay ref magnets?
Absolutely. You can do a lot of cool projects with clay. For magnets you just need to buy some round small magnets and stick them on the back
what does white gesso do?
the gesso is a primer. it makes the paint adhere better to the surface :D
Can you use acrylic on air dry clay?
Yes, absolutely :D
is gesso necessary?
It is not. I used it for the white areas. The varnish I use in this particular video will turn the white areas a bit yellow.
What air dry clay did u use?
I believe it's the air dry clay from das :D
Very nice, but it's imposible to read the steps. It's not clear
thank you and so sorry about the steps being hard to read. I have improved on my editing skills since this video
