The ultimate humble player. From the simplest beginnings with a mom and dad who were just as humble and unassuming as Bobby. The players today few hold a candle to this greatness.
People talk about how great the players are in today's NHL but most of these rich hotdogs couldn't handle playing in the '70s, Bobby Orr was the greatest player of his era and in a 12 yr injury shortened career still had 47 fights. Back when teams were tight.
Bobby Orr is the greatest NHL player ever. Why? Because he excelled on both ends of the ice. He played like a demon on the defensive end and was like a magician with the puck on the offensive end, scoring from every conceivable angle, Was also amazing at passing the puck and a very humble and unselfish leader. There will "never be another Bobby Orr"!
bobby orr if you ever come watch this vid on youtube i love you man you are my idol//////////////you signed 2 photos of you the day i met you///i was so nervous i nearly fainted//////////i couldnt even hardly speak nothing came out my mouth////////bobby you the greatest hockey player that was ever born/////////i can only imagine what it would look like the first time the greatest hockey player skated on that parry sound pond/////////that ice pond turned you into the most amazing shinning star hockey has ever seen/////////you dont even know how great you are bobby /////////you are bobby orr let that sink in for a few seconds//////////you became the greatest hockey player..........
the fact his last real full season was 1976, meant he literally played only 9 seasons, even though I believe he officially retired in 1978. After Bobby retired the NHL knew it could not let their stars be targets and the league promoted the policeman model, made the game more open, and that benefitted Gretzky entering the league in 1980. Add another 6 good seasons for Bobby and it would be no contest who the best ever is.
Bobby was offered 10 percent of the Bruins to stay in Boston his agent eagleson never told him and took the Chicago deal eagleson should have been drawn and quartered... That is why Bobby is the best Player agent today....
If I recall correctly... The offer was actually 18 percent of the Bruins... imagine how much that would be worth today?... To me, the greatest of all time, ... and he did it playing on one leg, for much of his , far too short but brilliant career... Boston was blessed by Ted Williams, Bill Russel, Larry Bird... and yet Bobby was likely the greatest sports athlete of all time... Led the NHL in scoring twice by a D-man... Only player ever to do it... His career +/- is so far ahead of the other all time greats, it's mind boggling... More than a goal a game better than the competition... THAT's NUTS...
burns to no end that Eagleson rushed to be the first to hug Bobby and grab the spotlight for himself. even before he had a chance to be with his wife, Peggy...
it still makes my skin crawl to see Alan Eagleson be the first to rush up to Bobby, knowing how he fleeced him out of an ownership share of the Bruins.
MEANT HIS BROTHER IN PERRY SOUND HE WAS CAPTAIN OF SHIGHTSEE BOAT 1000 ISLAND...HE GIVE ME SOME PINS AND PICTURES OF BOBBY ......WE ATE AT BAR OWN BY DON CHRRY...LOTS OF PICTURES OF BOSTON TEAM AND BOBBY...60S AND 70 CUP TEAM....

Bobby was never comfortable to be in the spotlight, he just wanted to be one of the guys

Greatest of All Time
Greatest Ever .
I remember this night like it was yesterday.
I always watch this when i need a lift !
The MLB retired Jackie Robinson's number 42 League wide and now it's up to the NHL to retire number 4 League wide
Not bad for a guy from Parry Sound! Not only the best defenceman ever but the greatest hockey player whoever lived! My apolologies to Wayne and Mario!
I once saw a bumper sticker that said Jesus saves, Espo scores on the rebound.
Bobby Orr made that possible!
my God, Bobby wasn't even thirty yet; he should have still been playing.....
Actually, he was a couple of months shy of his 31st birthday on this night.
Bobby!
Rare, to bring ✨️ a Stanley Cup to Boston 💚💛🖤

it was 18% and somewhere around 200 million today..@@berryscott3590
No. It was more like 18%. We were robbed of having Bobby involved in rebuilding the Bruins over and over again as a GM.

Oh Yeah Absolutely!!!
So awesome! Though man, I would have loved if the mics worked better and I was able to watch the video without getting motion sickness....geeeeeeeze!

When was this?
1/9/79
Jan., 1979
He still looked young enough to play. Too bad the knees gave out.
Al Eagleson should be in jail for what he did to Bobby Orr as well as the Wirtz family should have been stripped of their ownership of the Blackhawks.
