The players participate in activities that the team and leagues deem appropriate without considering their actual stance on those things. Team owners are open about their political views and who they support but you expect players to not be able to express themselves as they see fit is a double standard. Most players that have protested have done it prior to the game and if it’s done during a game, it doesn’t affect the game one way or another. You just don’t care to see it and there’s nothing wrong with that. I’m not one who wants to muzzle everyone I don’t agree with. We always throw disrespect of Country out there but this country was built on certain freedoms and they shouldn’t be taken away because people disagree with them.

It hasn’t “Evolved”, it has “Devolved”; no fundamentals, traveling calls are nonexistent, etc etc… IMHO it started with Tark and UNLV in the late 80’s early 90’s “run and gun” bull crap. Since then, NBA players seem to be all about the “highlights” on sportscenter, don’t gaf about the team.
I disagree. The players are definitely more athletic today and are more skilled in certain areas of the game. The Showtime Lakers were a fast break team that ran as often as they could. Run and gun has always been a part of basketball, Red Auerbach loved the fast break. Now I’m not a huge fan of jacking threes the way they do now but other than that I’m still a fan of the NBA.

I coach high school basketball and I stress the fundamentals of the game but I don’t confuse professional sports which is more about entertainment than anything with the purity of the game.
There is evolution its just whether its good or bad based on opinion. What annoys me is when people mistake differences in officiating and conflate that with a skill advantage for modern players. When you can carry/travel more, and refs don't call it, you can do Allen Iverson style handles and no one can defend it. So offense becomes easier because the defense's job is harder. Combine that with what is now called for a foul -- can't land near a 3 point shooter when defending, very ticky-tacky calls, etc -- and you have a recipe that makes players look more skilled when the truth is they are just molding their skillset around what the rules/officiating allow in today's game. Transport one of today's superstars back to 1980 and every possession for them would get a whistle. They'd need to adjust.
