Weird. I was just having a conversation where a chick was trying to friend zone me…
Last time the topic came up, she said she has been jumping from relationship to relationship and needed time to focus on herself and only wanted to be friends right now.
This is after over a week of her chasing me and showing high interest while I kept my interest level in check.
Told her that I’m not interested in that but if she needs to focus on herself right now and that’s what she needs RIGHT NOW, then that’s fine as long as she is still interested.
Now, she said “friends. I want to be friends :)” implying, that’s all.
So, I told her “No thanks. I’m not going to lie to myself and pretend that I want to be strictly friends only. It’s not fair for either of us and I’m not accepting what I don’t want. It’s been nice getting to know you, let me know if you change your mind.”
Her responses were brief and just “If that’s what you need to do”. She’s clearly upset by my answer but oh well, I’m not a doormat or doing one sided “relationships”anymore this year!

It was only a few days after that she suddenly messaged me saying she has a lot going on and needed to focus on herself.
Told her that I was surprised by her sudden change but didn’t react or beg or plead in anyway.
Not really my issue what her deal is frankly. Either she will come back after she focuses on herself (which I genuinely believe she does need to do from what she has told me) or she won’t.

Based on what she told me, sounds like she has been through the ringer and has issues with Men and relationships right now in general.
Genuinely, I don’t believe it was me but her. It’s not always the case that it’s the Mans fault but rather just bad timing which is something she told me but yeah, just gonna do what I’ve been doing and keep living my life and improving and she can come back or not.

All of this is true. Only way to get out of it is walk away. Do not text her or hang out or call her if she gave you the friends thing. If you are still talking to her after she friended you and you did ask her out and shot your shot, you are telling her you accept being friends. You think hanging around increases your chances but it is the opposite. She already made up her mind about you, so anything you say or do will be filtered through the friend lens. There is an attraction window with women and once she knows you it is open for a short time then closes. So hanging around after it closes is a waste of time.
You have to re-open it and the only way to do that is reset your relationship by disappearing and stop being friends. Walk away and work on yourself. Dress better, get to the gym and make money. Then and only then, if you run into her again looking good and carrying yourself with confidence she might then reevaluate you and maybe think she blew it with you and will not give you the friends crap anymore.
