I just had surgery today on my eye and this was so helpful! Definitely made me feel at ease knowing what to expect once I take this patch off. Thank you!
Loool extra effect on “puss that was leaking” I had my procedure done today and everything you said in terms of the process is spot on. I did feel a little rough after the op but a quick nap reset my body back to normal not the eye unfortunately. I hate needles but it wasn’t too bad. Took my patch off after 6ish hours and yes had to clean it up. It does look like I’ve been punched in the face I most say. Thanks for sharing your experience. I wish I saw this months earlier. I had the chalazion for 9 months. To anyone watching this, just book your appointment and get it done. It’s not that bad trust me.
@@kellyguerrero6017 my chalazion is totally gone. Looks like it was never there. The fact that I get asked “what eye was the lump on again” says it all. If you’re thinking of getting it removed, go for it. I’ve got my confidence back now and don’t have to keep explaining what the lump is.
Thanks for the healing timeline pics, I just got mine done today and they had to create an incision on the outside and inside of my lid since there was alot of puss. I was worried about the scar and when it would disappear, your progress pics helped 😊
@@Rinoula13 Hey, my eye has completely healed now and there are no scars, the outside scar took about a week to completely disappear. now, my eye is good as new :) I think the initial 24-48 hours are painful, that's it. But I did wait a whole month before putting on any eye makeup.
@@kalitalamba4711 Thank you kindly for your response :) Could you please also one more question, how painful was it? I feel more at ease knowing that it wont take too long to heal, as I will need to remove it as well next week.
@@Rinoula13 I think this will differ for most people because ultimately it depends on your pain threshold :) they do apply a numbing injection to your lid before the surgery starts so you have no feeling there (IMO, that's the most painful part) more like a 7.5/10; for the outer incision didn't pain too much - 5/10; for the inner incision - 6.5/10. the whole process took not more than 10 minutes so it goes by pretty quick and because of the numbing injection, you don't feel much during the process, you'll feel a bit of pain and tenderness after the effects of the injection start wearing off.
Just saw this video, thank you for your help. I just did the chalazion excision procedure today, and also like you I also got Lasik. But the chalazions were actually from contacts and then I got that laser surgery after. I also have dealt with dry eyes, and one thing that’s really helped me is combining flaxseed oil pills with fish oil pills every day. It makes your oil gland secrete more or something like that, I started this a couple months ago and I’ve noticed a huge difference. I also stopped smoking weed which made a huge difference also cause that dried up my eyes like crazy. I know you posted this video four years ago, so maybe I’m a little too late on advice but I just wanted to share it with you. Again, thanks for posting this video.
Thank you for this video. I just had my surgery. My eye is pretty dark bruised. I’m so happy it’s over with and now I’m just waiting for my eye to heal. I had my chalazion for about 6 months and did everything you mentioned and nothing worked for me either
This is so helpful, thank you! I am getting mine removed sometime next week and I am really anxious as I am getting married in 3 weeks - so will have 2.5 weeks to recover. Do you think that is enough time? Thanks!
Hi 🤗 my time line is getting a little fuzzy since this was a while ago. I think it was day 5 I started back at the gym. I did lift weights, and it would have been chest knowing me haha. I normally do 50 minutes in the gym. Just make sure you don’t start sweating on the face… if that happens, I’d stop the work out. After 7 days you should be fine to work out as normal as the wound should be fully closed
Looking for video what to do after my surgery today as the ophthalmologist just left me to make my payment and rushed for her next patient without telling me what to do. I had it for 10 months, tried everything you mentioned - hot compressed, salt water soaking, usb hot compressed eye pads as well as oral antibiotic called - Doxycycline Sandox that left me with sensitive sun burn on both cheek. I tried everything and consulted 2 specialists and both tried to convince me not to do it as it is small and not as big as it was just started thus it will be harder for them to ensure it will go away completely and they think not worth it. But after trying the method of oral antibiotic which really made me felt so frustrated, I told my Ophthalmologist that just do it. I am grateful to find this video, at least something positive to look for.
The lump did go away but i could feel another one nearby. I went back to see the opthalmologist after a month. She didnt seem to be interested to listen to what i tried to say to her. Told me it all went well and I do not need to do anything to the other one. More than one and half month now, it is better but my eyelid is totally different than before. It is thicker and not balance compared to the other eye. Aesthetically, just NOT nice not the same anymore. I did some research, it seems i need to see Oculoplastic surgeon. It is so hard to find dr that is experience to help me. To them, is like small issue removing a pimple in the eye. To me, it is not! It bothering me day n night and the first thing i check every morning in the mirror. So so so upsetting
Thank You for some good information, I'm getting mine removed on Friday and I am wondering if it did swell a lot when you woke up the day after your surgery?❤
I just had a Chalazion removed last week. Eyelid is still puffy and seems like it’s holding water. My surgeon never even gave me an eyepatch. When I first left the office, it was not swollen but the next day it was puffy again, and has remained puffy for going on 11 days now. My recommendation is to definitely get a ride Nobody in the medical office encouraged me to have a ride to pick me up and drive me home. My eye was definitely bothering me to the point where I did not feel safe. Driving home. From my research, it looks like I have Ptosis as my eyelid is droopy still. It does not match the other one. Prior to surgery, This was ongoing for 3 months from a blocked gland. I still feel it’s clogged somehow even after surgery. Not sure if it was from when I touched my eye with some bacteria on accident or possible face or eye creams with retinoids I heard. My eye blew up got very swollen. Used every home remedy such as tea tree, turmeric, tons of antivirals like oregano oil and garlic and was also prescribed steroid drops and antibiotic doxycycline. I’m wondering how to clean the lid if it’s still clogged if it’s a gland. I dunno but wish my eye would go back to normal. Might seek out a steroid drop for my eyelid. Will post video eventually on my experience with this. On further inspection it definitely looks like ptosis as it’s only my left upper eyelid. It’s so embarrassing and I’m getting so frustrated and close to the edge. Can’t take much more. I wonder if it was from the retinoid creams, because personally, I feel like it is droopy from still holding a Adema and swelling. Somehow it is holding more water and or not properly draining. I also wonder if it is allergic, maybe it is my memory foam mattress that I got recently.perhaps it was from an infection from touching my eye. My honest thought is maybe I got it by touching it after sexual intercourse with my gf as she found out she had a uti shortly after I got my blepharitis. Thanks for any input. I’m hoping to get a kenalog injection and wish I would’ve did it originally rather then cuttreage incision. This is been by far the most frustrating and embarrassing thing of my life. I also fractured my hand a few years ago and I thought that chronic pain made me depressed. This is really getting to me.
Thank you for making this video, I have my surgery next week and I feel better after watching your experience. Is it possible to go back to work the day after surgery?

Really wanting to get this done. Mine has been around like 20 years, believe it or not. It seems to suddenly be growing. It is a blister full of liquid on the outside of my eyelid on the outer corner of my right eye. It is growing into a point at the bottom and I can see it! the liquid looks opaque at the pointed end. Really gross. I don't think insurance will help. Did it help for you? Good video, thank you!

Can't wait to take out my plaster and move on lol my pupils are dilated and it's hard to see things thank god it will go away, it's from the drops they put before the procedure. Mine was on the same spot as yours and it was causing me a blurry vision that's why I couldn't stand it and got the surgery done. Very helpful video thank you for sharing :)
Hi David, would you kindly tell me which NHS Hospital / Doctor you had? That'd be great because my first surgery was a failure since I still got a Chalazion and probably should look for more competent doctors.
I'm based in South Australia, and went to a private practise Opthomologist :) So they didn't fully remove it? hmm, id go back and tell them as they should fully be able to remove it within the first go. :)
@@davidpelvay3563 Hey David, thanks for your reply! Oh I thought you were from the UK. NHS is terrible with unprofessional and incompetent so called "Doctors", they never know anything and can't cure anything even though they have the most sophisticated healthcare infrastructure in the world and all the tools and machines they need, yet still mediocre practices. In the UK they hire doctors from around mostly Europe and world who failed in their country of origin to be Doctors in the UK (because in the UK medicine is even worse than the failures around Europe). Here you can become a Doctor without a PhD or Masters which is the most pathetic and obnoxious thing to believe, and that's what the vast majority of Doctors in the UK are, uneducated and unskillful. It's just a mess and gambling odds, a simple surgery that often is done by Nurses in the USA as soon as you walk in the hospital, in the UK it takes months of waiting for the so called "Doctors" to attempt the simplest surgery in the world and they fail. If I go with a private clinic in the UK is even more concerning because very few people go to privates which means less patients, less experience and more incompetent Doctors as I've experienced in the past. I can't believe I'll have probably have to go to Germany or Turkey for a simple surgery, this country is pathetic. It's funny how it's so admired and nicely spoken of outside, no wonder foreigners come with great illusions of the country and can't tolerate it more than a couple of months/years and they go back to their countries lol. Anyway once again, I appreciate your reply and I hope you're healthy and well in beautiful Australia!
Hello David . I had chalazion surgery two days ago and there is eye swelling around my eye . I feel something inside my eye when blinks after the surgery and till now . Did you feel the same thing ? And how long it takes to cure ?
I was given a Script for Ointment. But after the healing was complete, I do Hot compresses with a wheat bag every few nights to keep the oils lose in my eyelids and to prevent another Stye/Chalazion from forming. :)
Hello, I did feel a small bump. Probably just the scaring/healing process. If that bump is still there in another week or so.. I'd probably go back and get them to check it out. With the Warm compress, I did try that before opting in for the minor surgery... but it did nothing for me. If you are thinking of doing it after, it's probably pointless. Hope this helps :)
I had my surgery yesterday and today it looks kind of the same as it did before I had the surgery I’m so worried that the surgery just didn’t do anything for me 😭 was the bump the same the day after surgery?
Some people can swell more aggressively than others and can depend on how rough they were when removing the Chalazion, and how your body reacts to when its "under attack". Id wait at least 10 days for it all to settle and bruising to subside, then if there is still a bump, I'd go back and let them know. :) hope this helps.
@@thaladyshady172 I don’t have anything anymore but I had a total of 3 pressures the first 2 did absolutely nothing then the last one I finally went to a new doctor and he cut on the outside right where I had the bump and took everything out. I wash my eyes morning and night with baby shampoo not sure if that has helped in preventing me to get more but I hope this comment can help someone else

Hello! I personally wouldn't, as water should be kept away from the eye. Warm compresses will create steam/sweat. I believe giving it at least a few days to heal and settle before compresses :) I hope this helps and I hope your eye feels a little better today!
These chalazions are horrible. . I had a surgery 4 days ago. Eyelid is still a bit swollen en reddish. Started to use the warm compresses since yesterday. I have no patience so its a bit hard time for me. Want to have it back as normal.
Hello, I just had surgery, today is my 2nd day. i still feel lump on my eyelids that does not gone after surgery (my doctor tell me that she completely incision and drain all of my chalazion). Did you feel lump after surgery and how long it will be gone. Thank you a lot.
Hello, thanks for watching :) I actually did feel a small bump after surgery. It's from the trauma the skin and glands go through when the incision is made. It should get small, but I reckon there will still be a very small bump once it's all healed. Even I still have a very small noticeable bump :) hope this helps.
I’ve just had 3 chalazion removed. About. 5 hours ago. It feels like I have an eyelash stuck under my eyelid. It’s really uncomfortable and my eye is watering like mad. Anyone else experience this? How long does the uncomfortable “eyelash” sensation last?!
I just got mine today and I ship out this tuesday for the military. Crossing fingers to not have any evidence.. how to clean it? And if should i not wear makeup at all..?
Hello :) It's best to wait as long as possible before wetting the area excessively, Id wait until day 5 maybe. But if it's looking yuck, Qtips are amazing as just cleaning around the eye. Hope this helps.
Kaia Jade. Heya! I didn’t use any antibiotics before surgery. Some of the time when they return, the whole gland may be removed to prevent them returning in the same spot 😊 definitely speak to a doctor or optometrist as they could refer you :)

Hi im really worried. Did the overall shape of your eye went back to normal or did the chalazion affected your eye shape even after surgery?
hey, the eye shape usually goes back to normal, it did for me atleast :)

Hello David . I had chalazion surgery two days ago and there is eye swelling around my eye . I feel something inside my eye when blinks after the surgery and till now . Did you feel the same thing ? And how long it takes to cure ?
how long did it take?
Im scared. i camt afford to miss work. Sweat like a pig at my job. How long before its safe to get dirty and sweaty again??/
I did my surgery yesterday..
But after removing my eye bandage there is ptosis on that eye..
Is it happen to everyone?
Are still required to warm compressed uour eye after surgery or just ointment?
given perez If they gave you ointment it’s very useful to use the warm compressed so it helps to drain
i was told cold compress after my surgery
I was given a Script for Ointment. But after the healing was complete, I do Hot compresses with a wheat bag every few nights to keep the oils lose in my eyelids and to prevent another Stye/Chalazion from forming. :)
Hey After A Month From Your Surgery Did Your Bumb Went Away
Plz I've got a question
After 10 days did u still feel smth in ur eyelid?
And have u used a warm compress?
Hello, I did feel a small bump. Probably just the scaring/healing process. If that bump is still there in another week or so.. I'd probably go back and get them to check it out. With the Warm compress, I did try that before opting in for the minor surgery... but it did nothing for me. If you are thinking of doing it after, it's probably pointless. Hope this helps :)
@@davidpelvay3563 yes thank u so much
@@thaladyshady172 Anytime :)
Was it still showing like you had a stye on your eyelid couple days after??
I had my surgery yesterday and today it looks kind of the same as it did before I had the surgery I’m so worried that the surgery just didn’t do anything for me 😭 was the bump the same the day after surgery?
Some people can swell more aggressively than others and can depend on how rough they were when removing the Chalazion, and how your body reacts to when its "under attack". Id wait at least 10 days for it all to settle and bruising to subside, then if there is still a bump, I'd go back and let them know. :) hope this helps.
Me too i had my surgery 8 days ago nd i still feel a bump there and even its not that noticeable like it was but u can see it wben u stare at it
@@thaladyshady172 I don’t have anything anymore but I had a total of 3 pressures the first 2 did absolutely nothing then the last one I finally went to a new doctor and he cut on the outside right where I had the bump and took everything out. I had a scar for a few months then it just disappeared and nothing has happened since then. I wash my eyes morning and night with baby shampoo not sure if that has helped in preventing me to get more but I hope this comment can help someone else

you look great!! any tips on how to recover from the surgery?
Not really, just as you cant get the area wet for a bit. But definitely stay hydrated and get plenty of rest.

Ballinggang Productions. Hello! How did it all go? :)
Hi i had my surgery last weekend. I did both eyes but my right eye feels a bit weak. Any suggestions?
I just had my surgery today and my eyes is still swollen ... Should I start up the warm compress from today?
Hello! I personally wouldn't, as water should be kept away from the eye. Warm compresses will create steam/sweat. I believe giving it at least a few days to heal and settle before compresses :) I hope this helps and I hope your eye feels a little better today!
@@davidpelvay3563 yea.. Thanks David
Hello, thanks for watching :)
I actually did feel a small bump after surgery. It's from the trauma the skin and glands go through when the incision is made. It should get small, but I reckon there will still be a very small bump once it's all healed. Even I still have a very small noticeable bump :) hope this helps.
hello all, for me , all my bump are gone , Thank you David for your video and made me feel comfortable.
How long did it took for the bump to go away? I just got mine today
@@imxxlanie9074 for me, about 4 months after surgery
@@nightvol716 i had mine removed 13 days ago and i still have a little bump.. i am afraid it won't go away
Mine lasted 2 days after
Its very painful. Find a Dr who uses general anesthesia.
Does it come again after the surgery?
I just got mine today and I ship out this tuesday for the military. Crossing fingers to not have any evidence.. how to clean it? And if should i not wear makeup at all..?
Shower.. should I keep it dry?
I know I'm one year late, but I just had a chalazion surgery three days ago. Is it bad to wet your eyelid with warm water ?
Hello :)
It's best to wait as long as possible before wetting the area excessively, Id wait until day 5 maybe. But if it's looking yuck, Qtips are amazing as just cleaning around the eye. Hope this helps.
Did you try antibiotics prior to surgery? I’ve had mine for 2 months now, it started going away but now it’s coming back 😭
Kaia Jade. Heya! I didn’t use any antibiotics before surgery. Some of the time when they return, the whole gland may be removed to prevent them returning in the same spot 😊 definitely speak to a doctor or optometrist as they could refer you :)
David Pelvay did your bump go away 100%?
Did you still feel a bump over your lid where the chalazion once was?
that was my question too. its been 2 days and i sill have a bump :/
@@lucycortez1147 it should, for me it took about a month to completely go away, I also continued to do warm compresses once a day but if you can still feel it beyond that point, visit your doctor.
Hello, Hows the healing after a month or so? I actually still have a micro small bump! It's not noticeable, but up close you can still see it haha :p
@@davidpelvay3563 For me, there were no bumps left at the end of 1 month. I visited my doctor after 2 weeks so she can check if all the puss has been removed and there was nothing that was left over after the procedure so maybe you can schedule an appointment with yours to be extra sure? :)

They can use twilight like the dentist. Costs more. Find a Dr who does

whats the worst part of the surgery? im little bit scared xo

Does it hurt while the surgery goes on??
Una Husna. Hello, thanks for asking. In all honesty, it was not too painful at all. It was a little discomforting, but worth the results 😋
alright ill be honest with you, When they cut your eyelid with the razor it stings like shit its alot of pain but its only for 8 seconds. Ill say them squeezing the puss out of your chalazion with their bare strength and force is uncomfortable its a minor pain too but once its over its straight.
The shot under your eyelid is painful
Just wanna know .. is there any scar now?...i am afraid of surgery
hey, thanks for watching. There a lit bit of redness on my eyelid, but the incision is made from the inside of the eyelid, so it should be nice and clean :)
