@@thepadawancollectorofficial that’s great to know. Just to let you know, I know there are a lot of resources out there, but I keep coming to you. Just something about your channel and your show and especially something about you that keep me coming back. Maybe it’s because you’re in a child is leading the show. I tend to listen to kids more than I listen to adults.
you should now do a new series solely based on the 12" figures from Kenner, there aren't many, but it is still a fascinating and wonderful part of the vintage collection. You could also do another one about the diecast collection, which also holds very interesting and highly sought after pieces. Another one you could do, it may be weapons and accessories, like masks and helmets, like Han’s blaster and lightsabers and stormtroopers’ helmets. You could also try to collect some of the 'tri logo' blister figures, which are also fascinating and there are so many knock-offs' made of those that it would be important to have someone show some of the key differences between them. You could also try to collect the Droids and Ewoks animated series action figures, even if you could only get them loose (tough to get them in their original blister). Something else that nobody ever talks about, and many collectors need more information about, it is the soundtracks, on vinyl, cassette, etc. Different editions and variants, why is it that we do not have a single soundtrack to this date that would have a complete score???? You could also collect some of the key posters from that era and also books, which many collectors also need more information about. You could do a miscellaneous series that may include rare oddities, like toothpaste, crayons, foodstuffs, etc. You could consider at least some of these things at least for archival purposes.
Joey man, seeing all those boxes in order was like seeing my life flash before my eyes! Every birthday, every Christmas, every trip to K-Mart, or Target or Service Merchandise, or Sears. Huge part of our 80’s childhood. Just golden! LET’S GO!

@@thepadawancollectorofficial I do remember the restaurant! Just me& my Dad while he was waiting for an oil change down the street. 44 years later and i clearly remember putting strawberry jelly on my toast.
i made my own from patterns in magazines and milk cartons and cardboard. had a nice stadium one where the figures stuck their stuff in the wall

I stopped collecting Kenner SW in like..2003...but in 2023 I went and got 4 different pieces for my collection, all because of you Padawan..:P thanks for the reconnection.

Four years!?! That's incredible. Thank you Joey such an amazingly well put together collection of videos. I totally agree about the playsets, watching this series sent me right back and I can still picture my mum threading the net on that Ewok playset on Christmas morning! Even watching the ones that I never had a chance to play with took me back to pouring over the toy catalogues and dreaming. Thank you again for the love that you put into every single video, there are lots of Star Wars toy videos on RUclips but nothing quite like this. Can't wait for the vehicles and beyond that, unboxing videos of the PDT-8 and CAP-2. MINI RIGS FOREVER!
I love the mini rigs and can’t wait to delve into that series, which I might do in conjunction with the vehicles and playsets, as well all know how expensive some of those can be, so it will be a nice break for my wallet and more diverse content with 2 runs to follow at the same time :). My favorite playset was a hybrid. Part playset, part vehicle... the Millenium Falcon. I had to part with my original while I was surviving in Seattle in the nineties, and recently I had to sell my replacement that I've had for years. Great memories. Thanks for sharing.
You know what, that’s a GREAT way to describe the Falcon, “a hybrid”. I’m sorry you had to sell yours but I hope you reunite with it someday! I am thinking about doing a giveaway during my ships run, and I think a boxed Falcon would be a GREAT one!
Minor mistake at 4:02 Joey. The Imperial Attack Base was released in 1980 at the same time as the Star Destroyer. It's curious to this day why Kenner did give us the Cloud City play set we all wanted. Kenner was saving the best version of Cloud City that they could have done for the 3.75 action figure line for the Micro Collection in 1982.
I started following your channel because there was much more than a review on a toy or a nice photo.
I look at your episodes as a historical documentary series of the Kenner SW toy line.
We all know that all this takes time to be made and you need to spend quality time with your family.
Keeping this channel alive, keeps this community together.

This is partly why I collect.
Even though I wasn't alive in the 70s and early half of the 80s, nor did I grow up with these figures, there are times when the mood is just right and I get taken back to a better time.
I get a high from that.
I also look at this as a preservation thing.
I want to be a better collector and to take care of this stuff as best I can.

Great video. Almost brought a tear to my eye too, for my own losses. I wanted to bring up however, before you launch into your future quests, a note about playsets. Well, not technically playsets, but I almost put them in the same category. I'm talking about the backdrop playscene dioramas from the original line. Like the original mailaway action figure display stand that had a battle of Yavin backdrop. The backdrops that came with the 4 different 3 figure sets. (Droid sale, Sandpeople ambush, cantina band, and Rebel base hangar.) Or the display stand mail away with bases and 8 backdrop scenes (3 from SW, 5 from Empire.) There may be more but off top of head that's all I can recall. I put these in a related category to playsets since they serve as great scenes for the figures. I think they shouldn't be overlooked as part of the whole playset tapestry even if more a backdrop than playset. I hope they get covered and included and wish you good hunting, and we'll wishes to you. Thanks for all you do.
They will definitely get covered, as well as the early bird set. I do think they are related to playsets and hold a kin to them, most definitely. This actually will be addressed in the episode right before I do my next run.
@thepadawancollectorofficial Great! I recall another one: the hard to find Death Star hangar bay backdrop that came with some of the Darth Vader TIE Fighter sets. It also came with some of the boxed Slave 1's. Though I suppose it would have to be an Executor superstardestroyer hangar Bay in that case. I had some of these sets and my most evil ex gf had me toss them, along with playsets and cardbacks in '89 on a move. Aargh! That's another story and lesson learned. Yet want to reclaim all these sets for myself again now. Anyhey, all the best!
I collect so my kids and I will play together.....we have Hoth battles or Endor battles...... bounding with them and making memories for them and me

What an absolute joy it is to see your playset collection, protected and acrylic, sitting on your racks. They look fantastic opposite your loose figures run in the UK case.
After your loose figure run, I was really hoping that your next run would be playsets. And the Force seemingly made it so.
I've really enjoyed your playset run, especially because I was on that journey right along with you. I had a few sets left yet that I needed to find and often it seemed your videos were perfectly timed for what I was either looking for or had just purchased.
"Define your Journey" - One thing that I found during my personal playset run was that my expectations and level of completeness continued to change as the journey went on. The deeper I delved, the more complete and pristine I wanted my sets to be. Pretty sure I saw that same sentiment along your journey as well. It can definitely turn into a rabbit hole.
While I don't necessarily treat my collecting as an investment, I do know that at some point these things will probably get sold, so picking up the best I can afford in my budget is always in my mind.
Love all of your tips, and the deep history dives that you get into for each of these playsets. It really helps to make a more fulfilling collecting experience. And I have a little bit more appreciation as well.
While the title of this video says "End of a Journey", we all know it's really just the beginning of many more runs to come.
So happy that even through the most challenging times you faced this year, that you never stopped enjoying your channel or your collecting. I know it's always an outlet for me as well and sometimes even a needed distraction from real life.
Loss is exceptionally tough, but it severs as a good reminder of just how precious the gifts we have are. It has certainly helped keep me positive and finding joy in all of life's little wins.
I always enjoy your videos, be at new ones or re-edits. Sharing the hobby with you and many others is the true joy of it all. We never got any playsets growing up, they were too expensive seemingly. And the figures we had were only the pegwarmers, (IG 88, Emperor, ackbar etc) jealous of the people who got the Luke, Han and Leia's, Iguess Kenner and Toltoys couldn't make enough of them.

Hey Joey - wanted to tell you and your journey have rekindled my love for vintage Star Wars and inspired me to finally display all of the toys I've saved from childhood. I've started to put some of my playsets & vehicles in acrylic but I'm having trouble finding acrylic cases for some - any advice?

Hey Pascal! The graded run will be an ongoing series. I have two boxes that just came in with about 20 figures! So I will shoot 2 videos going over what I got and the scores. I am also getting ready to send in a box so I will show what I send and what I expect to get.
I still remember how a new star wars action figure smelled.
Ahhhhh yes! I do too. Even the smell of the toys stores. Such a great time to be a kid
I love your channel, so I hope you go on to perhaps a carded run, or other toy lines. However, as I am also a collector I know the dangers of over collecting. My channel is really small, and yet the positive feedback I get fuels my desire to collect more and more so that I can produce more content.
If you have a lot of disposable income, or your RUclips channel generates enough income to financially support the collection of more vintage goods, then I'd be happy to see more collection runs. However, I wouldn't like to see that if it came at the detriment to your financial or mental well being.

For the past few years I've been thinking about starting an action figure club, but I didn't want it to turn into show and tell for adults, there had to be something else there.
There had to be a bigger reason and a functionality to the club.
Not only that, but I don't know anybody that shares this hobby and I'm not a people person. :) 🤷♀️
I thought about joining Facebook JUST for collecting, but I'm still very leery of having a Facebook page, that's really not my thing.
For now, my methods of collecting are eBay and my personal dealer.
Does anyone have any suggestions?
I would really suggest joining local clubs and going to collecting conventions like the ICCC in Nashville. Those are GREAT ways to meet other collectors and form networks for trading, buying and selling, and to get info.

My friends dad in grad school won the lotto and he spent a good amount on star wars I remember him showing me the telescoping luke at a cub scouts meeting didn't know what it was lol I'm 26 and prefer to collect vintage

Its your thing if you want to collect all the vintage stuff but me as a true Star Wars Fan I collect everything and Do Not limit myself to any toy dioramas, Figures, or toy vehicles so I might not have a youtube channel but I love all the movies and anything after the 70's is collectible too..But if your gonna throw the towel so soon it was all for nothing. I have over 20 years collecting and will never stop.. So bye if you leave
