Your control of your playing (which is outstanding) is only matched by your ability to explain what you are doing. No pretentions, no BS, no god like attitude: only good communicated explanations. You are my hero. Rock, Country, Jazz, I like them all. Your non nonsense straight forward ability to explain whats really going on in these different styles is something I've been in search of for many years. Thank you my friend. You have been able to provide an enlightenment to me that I've been searching for an incredible amount of time. I now have something to be able to wake up in the morning and do everyday in these waning years of my stay in this world.
I half expected him to roll into "Addicted to love" or "Money for nothing" at least once in this video. Nailed it Johnny! I love it man. Keep up the good work! Monster playing!
Too much distortion for me. Johnnie’s playing sounds like a pedal steel guitar at times. He is not using a string bender. Can a lens be replaced with acrylic, or anything else be done to improve your eye sight? Johnnie always has such a cheerful, positive, encouraging attitude. Bravo!
I love this guy. Bless his heart.
Johnny is a great guy and great player! Thanks for watching 😎

Well said! Don't ya wish ya had half his talent; a third maby...
I never thought I'd learn the pathway to playing Hendrix-style rhythm , through a Country and Western artist! Thank you Sir!

Johnny has as much feel for playing rock as I have for country. Does my heart good.
Johnny has totally nailed the Smoke on the Water tone!

Actually ZZ Top
I guess when your a country pickin son of a gun like Johnny, rock guitar seems kinda easy. Great work Johnny, love the working man blues style.

I like those country licks that has a little less over drive. But Johnny is a great teacher!

Most great players are not such good teachers. Cheers again, Johnny.
What a cool dude!
Johnny, You Da Man!!!
Playing country in rock context.Sometimes when I think of country rock I think of 70's southern rock...but their not quite the same animal.
I don’t think I’ve ever heard any of the southern rock guys play like that.

addicted to love a g d a robert palmer
Is it just me or does he sound like Mark Knopfler in the rock/blues part?
Nathan Farlow it deffently has something close to it. Love it:)
i cant see any difference.
Totally mate, the heart of Money for nothing comes from this style.
The only guy comparable to Johnny would b Danny Gatton, which to me means Johnny is the best or at least the most original guitarist alive
Brent Mason is up there too. Steve Wariner.
7:22 johnny van hiland
Just played smoke on the water. Wow. Lol
Screw the 2 distortion pedals. A dual Chanel tube amp gives me all I need. I use a Marshall. You don’t rely everything on a pedal.
Very ZZ Top
Nice, but when he said the Danny thing, I wonder if he meant the Billy thing.
simple jones He is referring to Danny Gatton.
this sounds more like deep Purple than is does country... Backmore did this type of riff in the 60s
I thought I heard man on the silver mountain.
Yes, very similar, but I hear ZZ Top
Is boogie rock
And money for nothin.
I love learnin but bro..... You blink way too much for me....
🙄
