      @@neiljohnston8497 A true statement, however... the quality of the opposition during the 80s and 90s were nowhere near as good as the likes of Judd Trump, Selby, prime Higgins, Ding Jung Hui etc
      BUT saying that again during Hendry's prime in the 90s Ronnie, Higgins, recent champion Williams were all there all arguably at the start of their prime years and Hendry did keep them in check, if there was a match between O'Sullivan at his very best against Hendry at his best I have a feeling over a best out of 33 or 35 like the world semi final and final I would say Hendry would edge it due to his machine like consistency and we had a taster of such matches at the 1999 and 2002 world semi finals when Hendry and Ronnie traded century after century but both times it was Ronnie who eventually cracked and Hendry took both wins, you could say during those years Hendry was at the end of his peak and Ronnie at the start of his prime years.

      @@PNorm Yeah and your point is? Going by that analogy Hendry turned pro in 1985 and was world champion by 1990 so 5 years later starting his prime which was throughout the 90s... Higgins, Williams and O'Sullivan turned pro in the early 90s and was world champion by 1998, 2000 and 2001 respectively so start of their prime and took them longer than Hendry to be world champion after turning pro, what's so unusual about reaching your prime 8-10 years agree turning pro? The only problem for Hendey for whatever reason he dropped off after 2002 even though ok occasions can still produce a 147 like this in his 'retirement' year. If he hadn't of lost consistency I'm the 2000s we would be looking at a 10-12 time world champion.

    • @kruks
      @kruks Год назад

      @@STM2811 - Hendry was a perfectionist and judging from his weight gain after he stopped competing (not that he's morbidly obese now, but he was quite thin back then), I've always assumed he centered his entire life around his profession. Can't fault him for that and it's why he was good for as long as he was, but contrast that to Ronnie.
      Ronnie won his first Triple Crown in 1993, but wouldn't win World's for another eight years. He was controversial, both of his parents did prison time, was known to party, and despite winning two major titles in the 90's, he wouldn't fall into a groove until the 2000's. He's never been as consistent as Hendry at his best, yet he's managed to keep winning titles over the span of 30 years and has not just the first or second fastest 147's, but the top three fastest maximums. That he was able to get his last World title at the age of 46 is in SHARP contrast to Hendry, who criticized his own 147 in 2012.
      Hendry was surely naturally gifted as well, but the contrast between the two lends Ronnie to look a lot more natural between the two.

      He had nothing left to prove, there just wasn't anything egging him on to do better. He passed Davis in 99 then just went off for a stroll turning up for those cheques hanged around with all the ones who struggled to beat him then they started to beat him lol Can't stand the one on YT that say Hendry is washed up and he had a weak era and the rest. It's not helping he's hardly practicing on his comeback he's overweight drinks smokes etc so will be at 60% max if he REALLY wanted to get bk to the crucible even just to qualify he would need to hit 80/90% of his peak younger self as 80/90% Hendry would still reach a Q final but he would really need all his time practicing to hit 90%+ but has other commitments and his health, so yeah 80% is a gd target the 60% he's doing now will only win him the odd game here and there not gd enough and he knows it! 👍

For me I just like coming bk watching old videos especially from someone as gd as Hendry, or if I'm warching Osullivan I don't speak about him the way people speak about Hendry on his videos. He is really a good potter, better than any of the players when he is on form, but only a cueball control master can get 100% potting success rate, just like basketball, only slam dunk can get you points easily. That is why people's always say Ronnie is better, because his potting rate will be higher compare to Stephen Hendry.

    • @L1ghtOn3
      @L1ghtOn3 2 года назад

      @@peaktongtan9768 It's not clear who you are talking about here? Why is it always they were really good potter(Hendry I assume) but master cue ball control gives 100% pot rate(Ronnie I assume) Just to go along with you since you guys never really can just shake hands and go yeah Hendry was best then, Ronnie is best now, it's no no Ronnie is the best? Ok so what if his potting is NOT as gd as Hendrys? Then it doesn't matter how good his MASTER ball control(you guys are funny considering snooker is many things like not getting out of snookers will not give you 100% even with MASTER CONTROL) So....get in clear the frame if not a lot of players will put the ball bk up the table away from the reds but Hendry could mostly( I'd say 99.9% lol just teasing) pot the long red or color and go on to control the ball as well. Yes Ronnie is a fantastic ball controller but Hendry on form was really hard to play against as he just got in and demolished the balls it was hard to play against. Like I've already just said earlier, more respect for the players and the game so many great players so many great games played, Hendry is a Legend for what he did and all Ronnie fans can do is mock him and push stats and oh he better this n that well yeah you could say that about a lot of the snooker players a lot are being modest and now Ronnie has 7 WC they are sealing the deal yeah he's best blah blah blah but tbh there have been some whirlwinds in the past just because they never reached Hendrys ir Osullivans 7 WC they were fantastic with the ball so yeah easy to say someones better when they have been on the circuit for 30 years! Ronnie Osullivan is the most consistent players ever at the top, but to me not thee best, to me Hendry was better in his prime, Ronnie is fantastic don't get me wrong but he knows he wants no.8, Why? Because he still wants to prove he's better! Well yeah give most people with his talent theyd most likely get 8 or more. Hendry as many have said did NOT have this luxury it was taken from him psychologically but he still trooped on and did commentary, so give the guy a break and a bit more respect, Ronnies earned but so has Hendry. ✌

    An interesting fact by coach said to Hendry that his weight gain most likely had a big effect on his cue action because you’re he’s now cueing in a different position than he was before without even realising it. So to anyone who says they used to be good when they were younger but not now then it could be down to your weight gain which is something we all go through when we get older.

    Looking forward to seeing Hendry playing again, the work he’s done with SightRight’s obviously given him a lot more confidence again, he’s said before that he only played six shots properly in this break because of his yips struggle but it didn’t stop him making the 147 so theoretically with more confidence in his cueing he could get somewhere, he looked a lot better against Jimmy White in the seniors , his long potting was good albeit he lost but what goes against him is that he hasn’t played competitive tournament snooker for nearly nine years and it ill take time for him to get comfortable again but no audience might help him initially and he won’t be disadvantaged when the crowds come back because it ill feel the same for everyone, he might enter the Welsh Open.

    Only 36 balls to pot...when you see a maximum it seems a lot more!....if you play snooker you will know how easy it is to pot a ball...2 even!....yet the more you pot the harder it gets....the pressure by the time you reach the colours must be immense!!!! And with an audience and the world watching!....the slightest twitch and its all over!...Mr cool 😎 he's earnt his place in the history of the game no doubt about it👊✌
