"Inch and a half. Plenty!" made me laugh a little this morning. Thank you sir! This build is getting better and better. Very interested in your progress. Your filming and editing skills have reached a new level! Thank you for taking time to bring us along.
Thank you, John! My filming level has reached an inch and a half!🤣 seriously though, I appreciate your comment. It’s hard to get good camera angles and I spent a solid 6 hours at least editing this one. Stay tuned for the next one!😉
Looking good, Jason. It's a lot of work but you look like you really enjoy it. It's more than I'm capable of doing or would even care to. I did see the reverse action this time. Bill
Cool, a truck video. Kinda amazing the Silverado steering fit into this old truck. I'm sure you checked to make sure the other motor mount wasn't also cracked. It's a cool truck now, it's going to be the boss when complete. Thanks for the video.
Thank you, Bob! You know, I noticed that the motor mount was slightly askew compared to the other one but figured that’s just how it came. The new one came today and I’m definitely glad I didn’t weld in mounts with it because I’d never get the good one in. The old one is pretty outa whack.
Your truck is looking tight just as well you have lots of clearance every where else 😀 nice job on the steering column always love finding parts that just fit perfect
This was great content. Your narrative your camera work do make a great impact on your video production. And I really appreciate no music. I will keep watching your build videos! God Bless.
Thank you, Pierre! You must’ve commented before the music came on.😂 when shooting in Timelapse, there’s no audio recorded so it would be dead air if I didn’t add music under it.
@@donmotz5528 Oh gosh you are right! That is even in the title of the video! I am chagrined, but what a great idea although now in thinking about it a twelve cylinder Cummins (if they exist) would be very heavy and would be a lot longer. Once again my bad.
@@NorthwestSawyer sweet I've done this swap it's pretty fun to see other doing it..if ya are ever looking for custom tubing bending I build roll cages rock protection and steps..also we do machining and the obvious by the name excavation
Awesome! Things my first Diesel swap but it should be the easiest from what I see. What bender do you use? I have a JD Squared model 32 bender and a Swag Off road roller. Love them both.
Amazing what you are achieving with your truck, not an easy task. But I have every faith in you that you will complete it to your total satisfaction, as you are a very clever lad. That Cummins engine will be quite a beast, very well made. Look forward to further progress as and when you can.
Jason, i can appreciate the precision work youre doing, considering that ive been there on my own projects. (Nothing quite this extensive.) This exchange obviously needs to be VERY carefully done to get what's going to make you happy, which gets my to my question ( finally ! ) : Whats the deep background reason youre doing this ? Why is the Cummins this much more desirable than the 350 Chevy ? I understand the concept of 'I just wanna have it that way', but where's/what's the decision point ? I really appreciate being able to warch the work of someone who is both a real craftsman AND a perfectionist.
Thank you, Gary! I have several reasons for the diesel, really. To me, the diesel fits the idea of a work truck. You can just about double the hp of this engine for less than $200 and a few simple adjustments. The 350 will go in my wife’s truck once I do the s-10 chassis swap on it.
2.4 valves😂😂😂 this is a 6 cylinder turbo diesel that has mechanical fuel injection. This particular platform is favorable because there are a lot of simple tuning tricks you can do to increase the power without spending a lot of money. The engine also requires very little wiring and they’ll run for a million miles.
Great project and some good progress Jason. Love all the fab work you do especially with CAD assistance. One question if I may. With all the mods taking place, how does the truck get certified/tested for road worthiness and is this a difficult process (I’m from across the pond hence my asking)?
Thank you and that’s a great question. We don’t have anything like your MOT, if I’m not mistaken. The vehicle doesn’t need to pass any inspection. I know Canada has something similar but down here, we somehow aren’t regulated that way. And sometimes it shows. 😂
Thanks for your reply. That does surprise me a little. We are fairly strictly regulated here and have to declare anything that is not stock to the insurance companies which they don’t like. Best of luck with the rest of the build and I look forward to your updates 👍✅
@@hondacrm306 I’ve watched a lot of your car shows from over there. That would be a tough thing to deal with. My insurance company just asks me for the VIN and what the vehicle is worth.
Dandy departure Jason, it sure is good to have projects / hobbies, and mostly, the shop space to do them in. That Chevrolet truck, sure brings back memories of the truck I had use of back in schools days. ( Wish I still owned that truck today ) I notice that you're using a magnetic ground for welding, would you recommend it, if you had to buy another? I can see the benefits over the standard ground clamp. but wondering why you went with this magnet one.
Thank you, Reg! I love the magnet ground so much that I put one on my plasma torch too. So often you don’t have a place to clamp a conventional ground without welding an additional piece of metal to your project.
That’s right!😂 I bought that ground at my local welding shop. I’d imagine you could get one on Amazon or a local welding supply store. I have one on my plasma torch too.
It has turn down door handles and no wing windows which makes me think it’s 48-50. The 54s also have a one piece windshield. I need to call DMV to have them look up the VIN. It hasn’t been registered since 1968.
@@NorthwestSawyer, I think you’d better do that sooner than later. Oregon DMV is swamped any more. Took me ages and traveling to another county to get a face-to-face appointment for my RealID license renewal.

I like how Jason names the species of wood on the wood blocks. He’s a sawmill dude at heart.
You know, when I was editing this video I asked myself, “why didn’t I just say blocks of wood?”😂😂😂
7:47 I remember Chase Sunburn coffee. 😀
Jason I think I’m just as excited as you are about this build. Can’t wait. Good luck.
Thank you! It was nice to see some progress.
Epic Truck! Epic Build! Epic Video! Can't wait for more Jason....
Thank you! My new motor mount came yesterday but I have a table to build….. so I can buy more truck parts 😂

Hey Jason, nice to see more progress. Looking forward to next episode......

It sure did! But I got the go ahead this morning for a nice table project that’ll buy more truck parts. Back to sawdust tomorrow 😬

What a great project Jason, thanks for bringing us along. I'm looking forward to hearing that 12 cylinder purr. Great video thumbs up.
Didn't he say he was putting in a 12 valve 6 cylinder Cummins in it.??

Are the front fenders and hood the same size as a 3600 / 3100 truck or are they bigger on your truck? Really cool truck.
Thank you, Eric. The fenders are a little wider than the half ton trucks and the wheel opening also has a larger radius.
