Welcome to this elementary Mandarin class. I am Sisi Laoshi.
**The structure 是shì…的de is used to emphasise when, where and in which manner it occurred.
Emphasis time:
我是昨天去学校打篮球的。Wǒ shì zuótiān qù xuéxiào dǎ lánqiú de.
Emphasise place:
我是在英国学习中文的。Wǒ shì zài yīngguó xuéxí zhōngwén de.
Emphasise manner
我是坐火车去巴黎的。Wǒ shì zuò huǒchē qù bālí de.
**This structure can also emphasize the agent of an action while the occurrence of this action has been known
晚饭是妈妈做的。Wǎnfàn shì māmā zuò de.
**Negative form 不是…的
我不是昨天来的。Wǒ bùshì zuótiān lái de.
牛奶不是我喝的。Niúnǎi bùshì wǒ hē de.
