We all love the Joker, who is considered by many to be the greatest fictional villain of all time. He’s unpredictable, charismatic and ruthless in his conquest. But despite being so popular, we don’t know that much about him. This is thanks largely to an unknown backstory, which has allowed interest theorists to go crazy and conjure up the best backstories, origins and explanations for the Joker. For one, there could actually be three versions of the Joker, thanks to Flashpoint and thus that could make him a deity. Another is that the Joker is in fact Jason Todd in the DCEU. We know the director said otherwise, but who listens to directors before the launch of a film? It’s possible that the Joker is in fact the long lost brother of Bruce Wayne, which explains their bond. A more grounded and sad back story was that the Joker was a soldier who came back with a scary case of PTSD, a reason for his proficiency with firearms and explosives. He was theorized to be a virus, capable of passing the Joker persona onto the next victim, hence the changes in appearance over the years, and was also thought to be a member of Fight Club and Project Mayhem. His superpower is thought to be super sanity while another suggests that he was in fact the hero of Christopher Nolan’s Dark Knight film. We never saw the official outcome in Killing Joke, although it was heavily implied, it’s possible he finally got Batman to break his one rule.

Anyone after joker (2019)?
0:57 he said Martin Scorsese but it was a todd Phillips movie though it had his influence
@@davidbatres980 Scorsese was actually gonna produce the film and was also eyeing on the direction, but then he shifted focus on the IRISHMAN and sent Emma koshkoff and his team for production.

Robin becoming the Joker would be an awesome storyline.
Its wouldnt be awesome because well he worked with Batman
But it would be interesting
And fans would be asking alots of questions
Joker junior aka Tim drake
Tim drake became the joker in Batman beyond
A similar thing was done in Batman Beyond Return of the Joker. In a flashback Joker is seen tormenting Robin. Robin admits everything about Bruce being Batman. Eventually Robin goes insane and is turned into a Joker
*Cough cough* Jason todd
You've become and adult when you realize joker made much more sense and you've stopped idolizing batman
@@Emily-ky4gg s a m e
Honestly after Harley, the Joker is my favorite character in DCEU. I like Batman but idk the Joker is better imo 🤷🏽♀️
Harielle Saintil the joker pops and action figures beat batman aswell imo.. like the heath ledger joker action figure is so lit but the dark knight batman is just boring... but the joker pop vynil figures are so cool because even though each are similar you can easily tell each apart
uh what? he literally abused harley and manipulated her
I only idolized batman when i was under 4
Nothings too dark for the joker
Besides someone not getting his joke... *AHEM* Batman *AHEM*
Ye *true*
@@MoodyF0X *Oh wait ye so true*
Joker is too dark for dark things
But it's too dark for the snowflakes.
I'd love to see Jared Leto's version of the Joker realize he's a fictional character and see where he would take that story. I think it would blow our minds.
@Starr Child i just dont feel like jared did a good job..he wasnt as smart and insane feeling as heaths..which is why i like heaths the most
I understand if you don't like Jared Leto as a joker. I know not everyone has a good taste.
if there where it HAs to be Jared Leto
he' the best joker i ever seen
@Starr Child im sorry but jared leto's joker doesnt feel like a joker.
@@kienserapio Jared Leto a joker is more of a young mob boss instead of the joker, it’s not Jared Letos fault it was the script he was given
Anyone here at 2020. The new joker literally stomped on most of these theories.
I didnt watch it
Not at all. If anything, it just furthered the most common line of thought regarding Joker which is that we will never know his true origin. He either doesn’t remember, doesn’t care, or just loves messing with us when he tells opposing origins. I’m fairly certain this is a writing fail safe. They can continue to write pretty much whatever Joker story they want and chalk it up as “He’s crazy. Can’t trust anything he says.”
I dont think that the 2019 joker was meant to be like the joker that we know rn... joker isnt that old and bruce wayne is still a child then
I'm pretty sure the film heavily implied that it's a spinoff of the usual Joker we know. It's never meant to be a replacement, nor an origin story to "The Joker" character.
I like the soldier theory, however I think he might have also been an army interrogater, as he seems to know just how to get into people’s heads, and what makes them tick. For example, he mocks Gambol’s manliness, which pisses him off. He also tells Batman not to start with the head becAuse the victim feels fuzzy. In this way, they have a weird student-teacher relationship.
This whole theory is talking about The Dark Knight, if you could not tell
Noah Evans just what I was thinking
He definitely has some kind of background in psychology or at the very least read some books on the subject is my thought
Not many of these are all that dark.
My thoughts exactly. :/ I figured these would be dark theories like Joker got beaten and tortured when he was younger and was forced to watch as his loved ones were slowly killed, and then he had to like... kill one hundred puppies and kittens.
DON'T YOU believe THAT...
Theory: what if joker is the man who killed Bruce’s parents and knows that Bruce is batman
Although disproven by Batman begins, wouldn’t that be interesting
Exactly... It's not that simple. Mm
Why cant we just admit, DC cant keep its story straight.
You must be new to comic books LOL its rare for a character to have a definitive story arc that doesn't include AU's, RetConns, or multiple deaths.
@flksfa ruzak1213 you have 2 and no subscribers
But,it can keep it gay!
thats y marvel is better
Heath ledger is the best joker ever
the role of batman and joker from dark knight wasn’t the usual hero and villain but they each reprsented order and chaos.
Nice up you go
I feel so sorry for Jared, his Joker didn’t get time to breathe in
Suicide Squad. I hope he gets a second chance at some point JARED LETO
AS JOKER 2021 WITH HARLEY QUINNN
Orr punchline, seems that character's got a new gf
I strongly disagree but I ain’t gonna stop ya
Rene Kakishina finally someone said it
No
I mean.. it's kinda too late for him. His appearance as the joker in suicide squad was really shitty. Not really his fault, but he'll forever be known as the guy who tried being joker and failed miserably. So, in other words, there's not a chance in hell that anyone will let him try again.
It isn't crowned prince of crime lol it's clown prince of crime
INR? That annoyed me as soon as they said it.
Hahaha right
I know. I cringed.
Immediately restarted the video to be sure I heard that.
Joe Funk lol same
The fact that he has no 'powers' is what makes him such a good villian.
It's already been proven he's super sane and that he acknowledges he's in a comic book that's why he does whatever he wants cause it doesn't truly matter. Example one time Batman left for a few years and then joker stopped for a moment and was like wait if I was in a comic then why would they kill off the main character, so he decided to live a normal life for awhile, had a wife and a child. Then one day batman showed back up and joker then killed his wife and child and went back to creating chaos.
LMFAO
My favourite joker was Jared too bad we hardly saw him :(
Yes me too.
Mine was and will always be Heath Ledger
I think he's going to do The Joker another time. In 2 movies, and one with Margot, but I'm not sure.
Me too...
@@FVC20 there was supposed to be a Harley and joker movie till Robbie snaked Jared
With joker being in the army it also makes sense because he knows how to use all sort of weapons like a rocket launcher.
Meme Lord explain Silver Age
Or maybe it's just his crazy and psychopath mind pushing him to do things even though he has no idea what it is or how in the world do we use this but yea ur idea is good too
I know it's been one year... But he also used a stick of dynamite :\
He's steals weopons just like how he steals money and rips off mob dealers he wants to make a point and when joker thinks of something he does it because he'll never get caught.
After Joker 2019 we know for sure He's a time traveler...
There are actually heaps of DC multiverses so that why people think he is a time traveller
The 2019 joker movie reminds me of what’s going on with all the protesters and stuff it’s low key kinda legit if you think about it
He's going to be a time traveler
Let’s admit it.....Heath was the best Joker
MiaJestic opinionated but I love them all for who they are independently
MiaJestic I’d argue for Mark
True heath is better #jokesforlife
Jack is the best!
Not at all. Imo.
I like the joker from suicide squad and i really like to see a movie from that story that the joker and docter harley quinn
Anyone here at 2020. The new joker literally stomped on most of these theories.
Tansb04 you have to realise that they played in other universes
There goes a dislike
He is gay af
According to the comics, there are three Jokers and the main one is immortal, he’s been around in Gotham for centuries.
So...the IT of Gotham? A DC Stephen King crossover could be cool
That is just what the joker believes after he gets some ancient Lazarus juice that makes him almost immortal.
Sooooooo it?
Lazarus pit wears off tho 🤔
but IT only appears to children who are scared of him once every 27 years.
I agree the Joker is the man... always wondered if they would use his Cyrus origin or another... I love the Jared Letto version.. the way he snarled when Harley was sitting on the gang members lap among many other mannerisms was exactly how I'd want Joker to be... Unpredictable!!! Maybe it's just me...
Controlling crime through violence....who else do we know does that....? Here’s a clue: Suicide squad’s joker
well said!
Brandon Torres seriously though!
Ledger was good but it was just meant for that style of movie that “The Dark Knight” was going for. But when I try and put Harley Quinn with heath’s joker. I just don’t see it working without changing his character a lot. Jared Leto’s style of joker isn’t as much of an anarchist that Ledger’s joker was but he’s more all around. He had good lines and his love interest with Harley Quinn worked well in suicide Squad
@@DrewDaJuiceman I so agree. Harley Quinn requires a different Joker Character Cocktail.
Brandon Torres that’s not the answer that came to mind et all actually, lol...
You forgot the time traveling Bruce Wayne theory. He returns to crime ally and is forced to become Joe Chill and kill his parents. This drives him insane and he becomes the Joker.
I was looking to see if someone posted this one...
That just blew my mind
They already confirmed that the suicide squad joker isn't jason
Then maybe Dick Grayson did
they said its not jason.. not that its not robin
we have quite a few different robins.. though i doubt it is a robin, they're to boring and lazy to do something cool like that
He didn’t say robin wasn’t joker
Anna Everett but it can be Tim or Damien
Anna Everett it’s Tim drake
"Joker is the God of laughter."
Me: "Loki, is that you?"
Loki is God of mischief smart ass
Nope
If Letos Joker is Jason Todd then DC would get a better % on rotten tomatoes
Young Tabasco But is not though
Emily Norris exactly
Then Batman would have a challenge when fighting Joker
Unpopular opinion:
Jared’s joker was amazing.
Love him❤
Rihan yesss
Rihan what about j phoenix
I guess, the laugh was way too disappointing though for the joker.
Ikr
People seem to forget how extreme Batman use to take things
Unpopular opinion:
*Jared's Joker was the best*
2nd but really good
Wut
Yessssssssss!!!
He had a different joker than the others and I feel bad cause the Skript did him dirty but he played his role really good and I loved his version of joker
Unpopular but correct-
ok my favourite one is Jared's joker. To be very honest.
Mishti Kundu he’s my favorite too
the fact that you think hot matter in a joker, makes me cringe,
Awwwww me too! I'm attracted to him and yes, he's HAWT!
@@phonex4dayz959 100% agree with you 😄
@@sargamyadav1069 It should be Harley designed for Joker in my opinion 🙄
I think we got our answer about the killing joke with the bat man who laughs
I think the infect thing is true. Because he infected Harley Quinn.
Not exactly harleen fell in love with him and then jumped in acid which turned her into Harley Quinn
Ouixx Pretty sure he pushed her.
Darryl Hamlin no he didn’t

Jared Leto's Joker is the BEST Joker in my opinion!
What makes you like him so much?
@@vitoriasousa6298 idk tbh I just think he’s the best
I thought him infecting other with his mind was GREAT!
Ciara Burkhart Yeah and makes sense. The batman who laughs answers both that theory and the one about Batman Killing the joker.
Miguel Tomás my thoughts too. In a prefect world good guy defeats bad, happily ever after.. Real world u have to go a lil mad to survive the villain.
Me too
Would also explain Harley Quinn
I thought this was confirmed already though, I mean, I grew up watching the animated series, and I swear I can recall seeing Joker "turn" more than a few people.
Jared Leto's Joker is definitely my cup of tea.
Why
Mark hamill is the best and has the most iconic voice and laugh
While i do enjoy Gal Gadot and Jason Momoa's portrayals of characters like Wonder Woman and Aquaman in the current movies. The big names from the DC animated universe like Kevin Conroy, Mark Hamill, Susan Eisenberg, Arleen Sorkin, Michael Ansara (RIP), Clancy Brown, Michael Rosenbaum and George Newbern will always be the real voices behind DC's greatest heroes and villains
due to a tragic childhood Bruce Wayne looses his sanity as he longs to set things right that are beyond his capability as an orphan child; Batman, Joker, Scare crow and all the other villains and characters are the creation of his mind, his imaginary friends/foes.... actually he is imagining the whole storyline, while being kept in solitary confinement at the Arkham Asylum.
This was kind of going to happen in a 1999 cancelled Batman movie
I would pay to see that movie, Right on!!
@@jenniferzarins7135 same
If the Joker is immortal, he could have been ruined by the CIA in the MK-ULTRA experiments in the 50s.. He might not even remember it.
The one about Leto's being Robin isnt true! In the suicide squad, when they are looking at Harley Quinn, it says that she killed Robin!
There has been more than one Robin and at that point she wasn't doing much without the joker.
The Joker is Immortal but the man who is the Joker is not. The Joker is an idea that will live forever. But each avatar of the Joker is infact mortal. An because we don't know his real name or who he really is we'll never know when the Joker that was died and when another took over. You're welcome.
I'm in love with Mr j from suicide squad..😍
But I admitt that heath ledger was better..
Happy brthday to the late legend 😭
Omg.... Has no one realized yet that the Joker is really Loki in semihuman form during one of his many exiles from Asgard???? Really?!?!?!
I mean... it could be possible???
Everything goes in the DC universe.
LOKI IS MARVEL DUMBASS
MMO-Grind3r 😂😂
I mean wasnt there some random storyline or something of deathstroke from DC and deadpool of Marvel crossover? 😕
Anything is possible though really far fetched its still fun to think about in a way😀
theres actually a universe where Bruce died and his parents lived then the father became batman and the mother became the joker
And the dad was a darker version and killed ivy and others
The Joker is Jason Todd theory is THE MOST ELEGANT way to get rid of Leto
TheLun4tic oh just imagine. He would get cured, escape Gotham to rethink and maybe comeback as Jared Robin and then they would reveal the real Joker. I’d go with it
I like the theory where Joker knows he is a comic book character so he can basically do whatever he wants because at the end of the day everything is fiction/make believe.
What if there was an older joker more like the one from the comics, and he tortured Jason Todd until he turned HIM into a joker?
Great video! 👍
You missed the best part about Heath ledger's soldier theory. See, the theory also states all his stories are somewhat true, abusive father, cheating wife, being a soldier, etc.
Harley continues to change too so if she is his counterpart in multiple occasions in the films, the comics, and she shows, then wouldn't he change also to fit.
Unpopular opinion but I liked letos joker. I feel like for the Harley they portrayed in the comics to come on screen they needed someone to match her. Letos joker also controlled crime with his violence and put Gotham city in a sort of balance between good and evil (not bad but just evil). Ledger's joker wouldn't have fit the new Harley and in this case I'm glad they changed him.
I like the joker is a magic curse of madness and violence set lose on Gotham City....and tharefore is an imotarl force.
I love Your video
If joker was in the army shouldn't he be a good fighter
richkidlife 22 he is a good fighter
richkidlife 22 ohhhhhhh 🔥🔥🔥🔥
True
richkidlife 22 even know anything about Batman Joker always stand toe-to-toe with him
donald moore actually I believe you now
him being a vet would make the most sense. similar things have happened irl and in other shows/stories
Some of these are genius and awesome some are ridiculous and awful
Saints row and mass effect 4 life I know right but the Soldier is awesome
don is the man Yh definitely but one of my favorites is he knows it's not real theory that's awesome
I can imagine the possibility that in one dimensional realm, there is an alternate version of (The JOKER) who once was a soldier, and I imagine that he might of had a nickname when he was a soldier.
Crazy theory: The acid Joker fell in was actually from the Lazarus pit
It makes people go insane and it would make the immortality thing plausible.
Semi popular theory
There was a storyline in which joker climbed into the Lazarus pit. It made him temporarily sane.
There's one theory that I've had about the Joker that's truly terrifying and that is through time travel the Batman is the Joker.
This theory is based around the time Loop that eventually after so many battles with the Joker Batman descends into madness and becomes the Joker who discovered time travel and knows that without himself essentially creating himself he will cease to exist so he goes back in time to create his own existence
Joker hated the mob because they killed his family.
drpoetry1 then how do you explain Golden Age?
Heath Ledger’s Joker is the best😍💜
Theory- people who find dark theories have a darker mind WOAH MIND BLOWN jk it's fine
I love Joker, he competes with Negan as my favorite all time villain.
lettos joker isint robin 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
Thegreenarrow39 CW but they should do this theory.
It was gonna be but Warner Bros as usual puts their hand into every DCEU film. The storyline was set up perfectly.
Thegreenarrow39 CW EXACTLY
I mean please explain why this theory was wrong and how it unfolded before they changed the script? Just because you said it isn't means just that? Brilliant retort
Thegreenarrow39 CW MatPat says it's not Jason Todd but instead Tim Drake
The one with Jason Todd was already debunked
more than 1 robin turned joker not just todd
Batamn:Why do you do this?
Joker: BECAUSE IF I CAN BE BROKEN SO CAN YOU!!! HA HA HA!
I'd like to think that there is only one Joker. It seems too clique and basic to have all these different jokers at the same time. I think that the joker is a thing (or a virus) that will live forever and just needs a body to create chaos. Once that body can do no more for it, it will simply get a new one.
Lmao Three Jokers comic book
Also a really good theory would be from the show Gotham. It introduces young Bruce and everyone else. Jeremy (who is assumed the joker), came from a traveling circus and kills his mother, then becomes a villain, dies, then gets brought back to life to take over Gotham. I think that show is doing a great job portraying the Batman characters.
I love joker(Jared Leto) as he love on harlee Quinn (Margot Robina)
Diane nathalee Avila it’s Margot Robbie
Lol he sacrificed her
My favorite origin is the one in Batman 89’, but I would change one thing: before he was high ranking in the mafia, he used to be a comedian in the lounge owned by mobsters. Eventually he gets brought in and, to test his loyalty, they make him kill the Waynes. However, the mob think he’s going to snitch to the police, so they have his pregnant wife killed while he’s away. When he gets home, he gets pretty unhinged but not fully crazy, and kills the head gangster, allowing the other one we saw at the beginning of the movie to step in, making Jack his right-hand-man
3:45...also Jason Todd has a "J" scar for his name, jason, but perhaps when he became the Joker he got it coverered by a "J" tattoo for "Joker"
I think of Leto's Joker as a Joker themed villain, a fan of the real Joker who took his name and plays up an idea of Joker in his appearance (like the Joker themed tattoos). Robin being turned by Joker into another Joker kind of fits that.
Him: “endgame”
Me: endgame.... why does that.... ENDGAME
A joker is a infectious virus
Me: not a good time to be thinking about an infectious virus
what if the joker is actually batman that went insane because he killed someone
Sick
The idea that Joker is Robin sounds pretty nice to me!! I mean,HOW EXCITING!!
You know, I'd think the most likely one (via canon), would have to be the super-sanity theory.
Just look at Joker's Asylum Volumes 1 and 2 for a bit more proof of this.
This is actually dope.
Heh, if Joker can break the 4th Wall, then Deadpool should break in with a good fist. “Shut it, clown! This is my Schtick!”
I really like the virus theory! It makes alot of scenes with alot of comics and cartoons! We have seen joker infect people with laughing gas and other kinds of virus deals but to even go as far to say that joker himself is a virus is a theory that holds weight.
clown* prince of crime
“A Cure for Wellness” to me is by far the BEST film to give insight of how the joker became the Joker. 12/10 suggest watching.
The Joker is like Moriarty.
The 90s animated series Joker was always the most twisted and genius. You could see the Joker was always planning ahead in detail. Setting the stage per say. The rest try to emulate that. Heath brought his own take on the character, which gave the Joker new life and youth. Opened the Joker up to new interpretation.
The immortal thing sounds cool & realistic cause how did the jocker survive the chopper crash
Joker- All you care about is money
Me- 🎼All she cares about is money in the city where she’s from🎼
Let’s admit it Joaquin Phoenix was the best joker.
I think Phoenix is the OG original joker and the rest are all followers worshipping imitating Phoenix's rebellious attitude toward society. None of his followers actually knew or understood his maniacal mannerisms and personality stems from being mentally ill and socially rejected.
Urm..no.
I'll agree with that
Ok so I actually really like the super sanity theory especially because it's canon in both Marvel universes as well with Deadpool and they work as really good parallels.
He clearly didn’t see “The Dark Knight Returns Part 2”. He killed the joker
No he didn't joker killed himself by snapping his own neck. Batman got blamed for it.
All of them especially the info about him being a ptsd veteran
All of them twisted
Maybe The Joker as a person doesn’t exist, but he is merely a title for a certain type of criminal in a gang that is passed on from mentor to protégée as the former dies quietly and the new one takes on the role. This might explain (in the DC world) why all the Jokers we’ve ever seen on film or TV were all similar and yet each one had a certain unique vibe and criminal policy (In reality, I know that they were all played by different actors), but what if DC could weave this into the plot somehow? It would save them some of the trouble of having to create a definitive origins story for each of these iconic characters, and at the same time make people wonder “What is the origins story of my favorite version of the Joker, and how does he relate on a timeline with all the others?” If I were connected with DC Comics, I would try this approach to writing in the future.
I read that Joker was a clown in the circus and end up killing at the circus. Batman came to stop him, but end up pushing him in acid and he didn't die, but the makeup stuck to the Jokers face and his hair turned green, also being push in acid by Batman is the reason Joker wants to kill him.
Merchiodos Nope. Read the Killing Joke
Theory: Batman is the villain because he will always needs the world to be unsafe for him to have his career as the superhero. Which is why crime will never be effectively stopped and why it will always be unharmonious. The superheros are always made to look good, but they do it to be celebrities. Maybe Batman made the joker insane so he'll always have someone to fight against. If he's invisible it'd be because of batman. When he escapes it because of batman.
If he's a human parisite then batman may have produced something that could live on to make crimes and become a secret genius, batman realises he mightve gone too far so at the end he might kill him. But when he kills him he becomes infected or the realisation or guilt makes him himself insane. He could then kill himself, become the new joker (he was sick enough to make the joker as insane as he is) or be locked up forever by turning himself in.
Am I the only one who loves Jared Leto as joker more than the others jokers
Prolly but idc he's the best lmao
u missed the most insane one , the fact that the joker is thomas wane jr , bruce's older brother , who , after an accident , got his mind injured and maybe fucked up , and his parents left him somewhere similar to arkham asylum , and he's kinda messing with his own brother and also because of what his parents has done to him
What if the joker wasn't a person................but a virus.
The one that makes most sense is where joker is super sane and aware he's a comic book character, just like deadpool.. he's aware of fourth wall and hence does not feel responsible for all his crimes/actions..
The Joker is actually deadpool with a split personality. Jk 😜
2:22 hey that's vandal savages' deal !
