Having visited the factory a few times including having one of the very first demo units with hand cut inerts by Mandy whilst John finished putting it together and seen the attention to detail these guys have it is really good to see S&P thrive. British Engineering and Manufacturing at its purest.

Loving the factory tour video - how many pages of NDA did you have to read/sign!!!
Let’s hope their track to order records keep an eye on “that” charger.
Wait until they outsource their manufacturing to China. Never to be seen that inside view again.
Brilliant. Going to order one and fcuk waiting for Octopus to add it as a “recognised” charger.

Thank you, no NDA’s and I can guarantee they won’t outsource the manufacturing to china, they really love British manufacturing and have made it basically their policy to keep it all in the UK, if you ever get a chance to go you will see what I mean, really down to earth people.

@@sotaelectrical I see these have built in PEN fault do they also include the RCD? Im torn between a charger and a 32a commando with EV board (including RCD, SPD, PEN), then use Tesla mobile charger with 32a adaptor. Can this charger just be connected direct into CU with a 40a MCB if it has all the relevant protection? I like the look of this as mine would be mounted internally and cable out the window for various reasons.

Octopus need to pull their finger out & up their game. They need to hurry up & allow other charges on Intelligent Go or stop the demanding the approved "ultra smart/snooping" chargers only for Intel Go.
People without approved charges are offered plain Octopus Go = 4 hrs at 9.5p per kW - BUT...
Sorry Octopus, Eon Next Drive offers 7hrs at 8p per kW for ANY CHARGER - even a granny charger
That's 1hr more than Intelligent Go, though it is slightly more at 8p vs 7.5p per kW
(Plus this is fixed for year (no tie-in/exit fee & you can renegotiate when price dropped from 9.5p to 8p recently)
Yes, this is 7 x hrs for all household electricity, not EV only like OVO, but this 7hrs x 8p is available to ALL EV owners - even those still using a granny 3 pin charger, let alone an old Pod-Point or BP Charge Master charger
Also Eon offer Solar owners 16.5p per kW Export vs 15p from Octopus
(Must be MCS Certified for Eon, Octopus may allow self installs)
If Eon or others start to offer say gas tracker/flux tariff options then Octopus will find themselves losing their market share very quickly
Octopus need to up their game/rates, avoid demanding only a few approved EV chargers to continually chat to EV's to obtain best EV charging rates - unless they offer much much more cheaper rates very soon
Soz for Eon plug, but it is a good option for anybody struggling to meet the requirements to get on Octopus Intelligent Go

If only the charger was Octopus IG compatible. My car isn't so need a charger that is, so have to go with something else. I'd have one of these, or the anderson, for sure if either supported IG.

Eon Next Drive at 8p x 7 hrs is catching the others up, no specific charger required, even a granny charger will do, Export at 16.5p.
Octopus need to stop being so demanding on the EV charger spec & offer Intelligent rates of 7.5p x 6 hrs to all std Go customers...
Then re-jig Intelligent Go with more approved chargers for say 7 or 8 hrs at say 5p per kW
**** For some reason my comment/reply isn't showing up (YT / OP) ****
I'm going to suggest it's YT...
If you list comments with say "newest first" - BINGO, my other replies appear ???
(Try it & see for yourself - list newest comments first)
So I had to reply here to 4p more kW more claim...
NOPE - 1.06p more, but 18th hr is already off peak 8p vs still day rate on Octopus
This mean during the 18th hour Octopus is 23.21p more expensive than Eon ND per kW
Now offset the halfpenny more you pay for EV charging on Eon vs Octopus...
it roughly works out the same in most cases
Only you don't need a specific EV charger for Eon ND
BUT YES EON ND standing charge is 2p more per day than Octopus
However to recoup say a £1,000 EV charger install to get onto Octopus saving 2p per day standing charge...
Would take you 50,000 days saving 2p per day standing charge
Or 137 years to recover the grand to have an Intelligent charger installed

home ev is 7p kwh to charge but octopus energy increases the day rate plus standing charge and so people who only have electric home heating and cooking wil get huge electricity bills, energy companies still robbing people who have home ev charging and is "Never" cheap, i thought rich people were intelligent not to get robbed and know their maths, you can afford a tesla because you have a big private pension, shares and get paid by your subcribers, but we ordinary low paid people can never afford a decent ev like tesla because our parents, ancestors never stole wealth
we tax payers pay for infrastructure and these companies rip us off with high prices

What are you on about lol. Ive just got a 3.5 year old Tesla model 3 LR. I paid £20,000 it has 4.5 years warranty on the motor and battery still. I had a Alfa GT1.9Jtd for 10 years prior. I am on Intelligent Octopus. The 7.5p over night rate far outweighs the slight bump to daytime rate. I run washing machine/dryer, immersion heater, dish washer and charger car over night. I only turn electric heater on in the room I am in. Cooking costs almost nothing, electric ovens are very efficient, they turn off once up to temp and I use an air fryer most of the time anyway. I reckon its about 10-20p at most for cooking.
