To summarise, this is what happens, when your balance team never actually played the game themselves. The sheer fact that this has made its way into the final version of the game without any change whatsoever even after 3 beta tests, and 1 closed beta test proves that they just didn't care
Would be nice if the wolves scaled off the players atk speed, also have some kind of procs from their autos that do poisons/lightning dmg from items. And just overall like you said deal much more dmg at least at higher ranks.
Running this build myself. Spent ungodly amounts of resources perfecting it. Got all the synergies in place. 9 companions, werewolf pack's behind my back, all the bells and whistles. It still sucks hard. Pulverize and werenado druids talking about damage numbers in the millions, I'm looking at 5-digit scores during combat. It's so demoralizing I can't even begin to explain... EDIT: Notice the "+% Potion drop rate" on the unique legs. They be trolling us, I'm tellin' ya. Instead of putting some useful stat there, they decided this build is going to constantly run around and chug potions to stay alive while doing ABSOLUTELY NOTHING :@
It’s weird because there’s even a load screen tip regarding the Necromancers pets getting 30% of most your stats including crit chance and damage boosts. So why wouldn’t they do that with the wolves.
Couldn’t agree more with you. I really wanted to try a companion build as well and tried some. I was very disappointed. Hopefully companions will see some major buffs in the future.
I struggled to kill one boss in the beta so i respeced to a minions build. After i saw the damage of wolves i just stood and waited to get killed. And this is after their buff
I wanted to do a companion build too, but came across these very same issues constantly. It's a shame because I recently found that aspect, which gives you an extra companion and another which increases your skill damage by x% per companion. But putting the necessary points into those areas is just so weak, even compared to a very basic build of another kind. Such a shame.
Currently playing a Landslide/Companion Build. It kinda works, but still struggles hard at T4. If only the wolves/werewolves were tankier. Here's hoping they'll get buffed soon.
In fact minion damage come from the skill not the auto attack from minion. Vine do some big dmage on Aoe and can be reset with crit. Perma vulnera with raven and wolf are okay only if you activate them ... Pet build here are hybrid not really core. I have done my Torment acces at 57 with companion build ... and farming at Torment since 58 ( now 67 ) dying some time when i don't check mobs .... but it's okay ...
A search bar would be awesome in the inventory and stash. Searching for keywords like "pulverize" and everything that has it on will be highlighted. Blizz should take a look at PoE's inventory management, lot to learn from there. And where are the build sets?! I get it you have to pay to respec but cmon...
I could a see companion build being a thing in a expansion. add a skill to each skill type, companion being a bear, add a couple unique items with affesix like companions get ur crit %, another like bear companion gets 75-150% dmg increase, through that on a 2 hander to double its dmg. shit like that
1. Bear companion with taunt capabilities low damage high survivabilty 2. Incorporate some aspect or rework the “ your wolf companions are wearwolves” into something that also make them mimic your shape shifting abilities
Minion builds have never been viable in higher tiers, Diablo 2 is a good example, Necromancer minions get absolutely devastated. Druid companions are the same in D2, except for maybe the grizzly bear you could summon with its huge health pool and synergies but even then at higher tiers, it gets melted. I'm actually surprised they took away the grizzly summon and the dire wolves, along with all the different oak sage summoms.
D2 is a quarter century old. What was good game design then, doesn't make good game design now. D4's major competitors in this market have viable minion builds. If minions can't be viable end-game why spend development resources making them, or designing classes with an identity tied to them?
@zotix3855 Diablo 2 is seen as the crown jewel for Blizzard, it's why d4 went back to the dark Gothic look and has more gore, it's also why you can't put paragon points into everything and that you have very limited skill points. I never used a minion build in d2, I did a tank werebear, using heart of the wolverine and dumping mostly everything into vitality It's just general rule of thumb not to do minion builds in higher tiers. I tried to make one in d2 and the most successful I had was synergies into dire wolves and the grizzly bear but they took out a lot of the good summons for the Druid class and completed scrapped the oak sage summoms in d4
@@wodensthrone5215 Very few if any people that worked on D2 worked on D4. The soul of the company is long gone, yet the player base can't put aside their nostalgia from reality. D4 is a decent game, but a poor ARPG. It is incredibly buggy on release, has shambolic balance, and zero end-game. The game needed to bake for another year or a year and a half.
hello greetings, it's too bad that the colleagues don't work well, it would be interesting to work as they should. Still, good video. Just one question, have you tried a build that I've seen very little, which is invisibility and teleport doing critical hit? I think it's for a unique one-handed ax which I don't remember the name
This is the same dev team that made 5 ultimate abilities but gave all the Legendary affixes to just Grizzly Rage. They clearly want you to play 1 of 2 ways.
Companions need not only auto-attacks, but also their skills (it’s 4 diablos after all). Yes, in general, a lot of things are needed, it’s strange that they made them so weak, and you can’t even play them at the beginning of the game.
Broo I've been desperately trying to make a pure earth skill build, but its just soooo weak. I dont want a werbear and earth build but its rough when the earth skills by themselves dont do very much
The nerf to stampede had a big effect. I ran this to lvl 83. Although I had stampede. Best dmg I ever saw to elites, assuming the wolves pathed correctly (they jump into the air and didn’t attack 50% of the time) I might see a 1/4 bar drop. End game the build is a joke for druid, as in all prior versions of Diablo. They nerfed stampede due to beta lvl 25’s posting omg busted… Stampede needs to be where it was and we need a companion specific paragon board.
I tried it as well, its sad. They even took the time to design a unique and some legendaries that guide you toward companions only to find out they are useless. They dont tank, they dont dps, they dont CC, they do nothing.
Yep...been trying a werewolf alpha pack leader build for fun...the companions not doing anything or bugging mid air...not applying Rabies that already does ''meh'' damage. Not cool
Its so frustrating to me that this is even a problem. Like, did they play their game at all?? What is the point of the wolf companion skill? They are SO BAD. Insanely frustrating that we are even at this point.
Firensorc do lowest damage from all classes, nercomantic adds dying to fast , Druide adds do Low damage , i Think Blizzard IS dreaming i Hope this becoe a buff soon
You don't have the unique ring or even the shepherd aspect and your just using wolves. Gotta use all the pets for a companion build and then alternate between a bear and wearwolf skill every 2.5 secs.
Companion builds have been part of Diablo forever. They just put no effort into both the Druid and Necromancer pet builds what so ever. That being said I am sure they will look into overhauls and fixes to bring them more inline with other classes. Just sad they released them in this state.
another garbage remake rushed out to take your hundred dollars. literally only 2 playable builds on almost every class barb wildly better than every other class.
There is also a ring which gives +1 companion so basically 3 wolfes. BUT there is also a freaking bug which makes your third wolve HOVER above the enemies all the time. Companion builds are useless crap. Here is a screenie of the bug: i.imgur.com/fdx601j.jpg

Poison creeper with extended poison duration is actually very potent in campaign at least :P

does upgrading the rabies skill affect the rabies of the companion?
hi can you confirm if rabies spread by wolves scale with wolves(&companion dmg)? Maybe try some poison->bear slap playstyle if it works pls ty

Yet in poe minion builds are one of the strongest out there and can do ubers no problem. It doesn't have to be this way, you don't have to excuse this

0 dmg ... they are only good for blocking but that can't be the point either. 😪
one thing i have to bring in: werewolves should simply copy our abilities with like 50-75% effectiveness, shred, bloodhowl etc
