I know I’m late to the party, but I just got a great deal from Sportsman’s Warehouse - $269.99 + military discount. Taurus also had a $50 rebate on top of this deal. Talk about budget shooter! Bought two boxes of Fiocchi (sic) 115 gr fmj, and ran the first 100 rounds with zero malfunctions out of the box. Took the pistol home, and cleaned/oiled the gun for next range session. I also changed out sights for Tru Glo fiber optic sights (my preferred option). Next range session, I’ll try different weights, fmj and hollow points, and Tula ammo. If it continues to run as good as it did out of the box, I’ll get the +2 extensions and add it to my EDC rotation.
What do you think of the wall the trigger hits? I love my gx4(riton rd,ported and comped)but I still find myself jerking the trigger even after polishing the internals 2x and around 500rds. Oh,and Tula ammo Jams up in mine.
@@Blap552sorry I didn’t see this when you first posted. The trigger has worked itself out with over 1000 rounds fired. It eats everything I feed it. In fact, I typically use Tula 115gr because of cost. The only thing I’ve changed since is I’ve gone to tritium front sight, and added a rubberized Hogue grip. Bought the 13+1 extensions, and it’s in my daily EDC rotation (when I can’t easily conceal carry my Glock 48 with S15 magazines).
I already had a Sig P365. I don't know if it will replace my Sig, but I do admit that Taurus really nailed it with the GX4. I've purchased a number of Taurus handguns over the last couple of years and the quality is really there with all of them. Taurus quality in general, dating back to the first G2 has been really good. If the corporate people at Taurus stay on top of the game with releases like the GX4 and step up the customer service part, Taurus will have a bright future.
I think you have great intuition! If you look at the frame design this is a shrunk down version of the TX22 frame design chambered in 9mm. Look at the backstrap, trigger shoe, and frame shapes, and then the grip cuts, indexing areas, and stippling patterns; they are all TX22 inspired. In my opinion, this is a good thing,, because it is what I had hoped the G3C would have been. Taurus's 9mm segment needed a freshening up of its frame design; not that the PT111 series pistols were bad by any means, but stippling, trigger, and sight upgrades does not a competitive new model make.
@@killacoiler1707 yes... The TX22 is the 5th generation of Taurus pistols and the GX4 is also 5th generation, based on the same design. G2c and G3 are third and fourth generations, respectively.

Man I remember buying my pt111 millennium g2 back in 2016-17 and thinking I had messed up; but nope it was one hell of a gun, that thing still shoots so well. Of course it just sits in my safe ever since I started buying glocks, but Taurus has come a long way!!!

@@ObscureArms I can only speak for myself but I had to send one of their revolvers in for warranty repair and it's taken over 6 months to resolve the issue. In fact, it was easier and faster for them to send me a replacement gun than to simply fix/replace broken parts. WTF???? The actual people I talked to were fine, and I didn't jump down their throat because they aren't the ones actually fixing/managing things. So now they're sending me a replacement gun and that's fine, but I'm not taking any chances on another lemon. As soon as I get it I'm turning around and selling it. In contrast I sent a gun back to Ruger for warranty repair recently that wasn't originally mine--and I told them that--and they had it received, diagnosed, repaired, and sent back to my home in 7 business days...at no cost, along with documentation telling me what they replaced/fixed and that they had test fired it and even with what ammo they used. And it runs fine now.
While I usually carry a Glock or Sig. I love that Taurus makes competitive carry guns for the working man on a budget. If I was on a tight budget I would not feel bad with one of these in my pocket.
Just got mine today and found it for $250 and was blown away. I couldn’t pass up a deal like that. The first pistol I ever owned was a Taurus G2. And I liked my G2 though I knew they could upgrade a few things which it looks like they went over and beyond with this model and the newer ones. Plus the build quality looks way better than that of the G2 and earlier striker fired pistols by Taurus. Did not know it has a lifetime warranty, that’s amazing. Great review as well.
If you go on Taurus site they have most all the accessories for the GX4 already. Tritium Night Sights, Fiber Optic Sights, Holsters, Trigger Guard attached Lasers, Mags and more.
Honestly I wouldn’t buy the sights on their website…if you want decent price sights that are great quality go to Night Fision and get sights for a Glock 42/43…or even just the front. If it’s shooting low for everyone though and not just Sootch’s example, a full set of sights would be better. I’ve owned several sets of the Night Fision sights for Glock and Sig and there excellent.
@@scotteger6271 Your choice and your money. Mine work just fine. I got a tritium sight from Taurus website and mine is right on, not off at all. Just because one has an issue does not mean they all do. The pistol he shot was stock so to me no reason to knock down the parts they sell for it.
Taurus is now in the major league of firearms. I bought my first Taurus 38 revolver back in the 80’s. I never had a problem with it. I currently own a TX22 and I’ll probably buy a GX4

Great review, Sootch. One thing that is great and that you did not mention: NO THUMB SAFETY! Yes! Also I noticed almost no muzzle flip. Amazing for a tiny pistol. I was surprised at no optics ready. The stainless steel chassis is very innovative. The slide stop is too. I want one!
I am becoming a Taurus fan, the company is trying hard to release good products, actually. I'm considering buying a TS9 soon, which is available in Brazil.

I am really tempted by the GX4. I am fortunate to live near the Geneseo factory for Springfield so I usually buy those. I've only needed warranty work once on a 1911 so I drove over there, explained in person to the guy who would be working on it what my issues were. A few days later when I picked it up he came out and showed me everything he did. All I cared about was that the slide was getting scratched where it disappears inside the dust cover. Well Springfield gave me all new internals (barrel, trigger, etc) and he hand refinished the whole thing and precisely fit it all together. So it basically takes a lot to get me to buy a non-SA gun but for the $$$ I think I might pick up this Taurus GX4! I just hope if I ever need work on it Taurus impresses me as much as Springfield did.
I absolutely love this gun!! Just got back from shooting 244 rounds in the rain and this gun ran 100% perfect and shoots dead center with the factory sights. The grip never slipped out of my hand on any of the shots, had some slipping of my support hand fingers off my main grip but thats to be expected in the rain. I ran 3 different brands of 115grn bullets and 11rnds of 115grn hollow points. I think this GX4 out shoots my G3C and G2C by far.

One more positive that you didn't mention. The GX4 looked to be spitting out that brass as opposed to the other micro's ( Glock) that seem to drool the brass out. Makes a big difference to me!
That's where gun-tubers make their money. No new shooter can shoot these small 9s. It's a gimmick to sell guns because of 'muh spec sheet.' I like the looks of it, seems simple but good. I would like to see a company like Palmetto State Armory get into this game of micro double stacks as they seem to produce and engineer a lot of their own firearms with great success. Great video! I like the gun! The only bit of info to add is, I wish Sootch's comment about the retail price being considerably lower than the MSRP were true. Here in Phoenix, the GX4 Micro is currently selling for $399.00. Maybe because it's new to the market, and with the current buying climate out there, the pricing is a bit high. Have to wait and see.

I would absolutely take a ppk or a Bersa Thunder over one of these. They are actually fun to shoot, unlike these junk micro-9s.
Beretta 80's series are the cream of the crop for this role. They inspire confidence in the shooter.
@@americansuper-soldierjadav7234 That, and the Bersa Thunder can have 15+1, and comes with a fixed barrel. All told, 380 performs equally as well as 9mm with the right ammo while also being more pleasant a shooter, and looking much better.

I just got the same gun at the same spot 😂
I think that Taurus is going to sell a lot of these... Semper Fidelis
I for one will be buying one 👍
Yeah but that grip
I think it will to. This is probably going to be a nice and less expensive alternative to the sig 365
Love my GX4. Feels good in the hand and shoots great. You can spin the take down pin with the rim of the case.
I thought that may be the case...
I bought this for my off duty carry and I absolutely love it! First thing I did when I got it was change out the sights

I'm shocked by the innovation and quality of Taurus today. BUT I always knew their company had the potential to reach and even exceed such heights. Under old leadership I saw so much untapped potential. And now is a great time to be a firearm fan. I'm absolutely elated with this one!
🎶Sootch, tell us bout the good ol days, what it's like to go to the range, before the world went crazy🎶
Man I remember buying my pt111 millennium g2 back in 2016-17 and thinking I had messed up; but nope it was one hell of a gun, that thing still shoots so well. Of course it just sits in my safe ever since I started buying glocks, but Taurus has come a long way!!!
Same
I put the Glock in the safe n carry a g2c.
Taurus is listening to their people! I’m happy for them and hope they continue to do better
Ordering one next week, saving me some cash as I wanted a Hellcat or P365 but this will do just fine!!
I own a GX4 and a G2c .40, I love both of them, and now I’m looking at getting a G3x.
Taurus has definitely upped their game on design. Now if they can just hire more people for their service and support.
YEEEEEEEEEEEEEP.
How is Taurus’s customer service?
@@ObscureArms slow to respond, slow to repair, slow and more slow. I am sure they are running thin. For me, loyalty is 20% product and 80% service/support.
@@whimsymaker agree with you 100%. Good customer service makes or break a company for me personally. Thanks for letting me know.
One reason I won’t buy a single Sig Sauer product is their incompetent and overall god-awful customer service
Taurus sells a +2 extension for the factory magazines. Comes with a mag extension and new spring, for about $10. I ordered 2 this weekend
While I usually carry a Glock or Sig. I love that Taurus makes competitive carry guns for the working man on a budget. If I was on a tight budget I would not feel bad with one of these in my pocket.
Yes sir. A gun in hand is certainly better than a gun on layaway.
@@sal9092 or no gun at all!
I'd put this right up next to my wife's sig p365. They handle the same and I'm getting identical accuracy and boring reliability out of both so far!!!
According to Kentucky Gun Co there is a 13 round magazine from Taurus sold separately. Great video!

Love this video! I support Taurus all the way 100%!! Love this Gx4!! Cant wait to buy one!!
All Taurus guns are flying of the shelves around here.

SIG P365 owner here. This weapon looks amazing for the price, but I will say those sights are one of the corners they cut. The P365 sights are excellent out of the box.

not cutting corners. It is still cheaper when you install night sights compared to glock, p365, hellcat, shield plus, etc.

Taurus is getting better and better......
I just bought my GX4 and I can not be any happier with my purchase! Straight out of the box and it grouped flawlessly! Sootch is right tho...it does favor low left but a tight grouping. A lil adjusting and it should be just fine! Very lil snap in the recoil. This is my 3rd Taurus...PT 24/7 G2, G2C, and GX4! I may be a lil biased tho...I am a Taurus so...😀
One more positive that you didn't mention. The GX4 looked to be spitting out that brass as opposed to the other micro's ( Glock) that seem to drool the brass out. Makes a big difference to me!
Absolutely, the g43 is really bad about that with 125gr from my experience.
Great point!
Taurus has been impressing me as of late, glad to see they have American manufacturing now also. Great review sootch
Your recoil management of that little pistol is damn good.
That's where gun-tubers make their money. No new shooter can shoot these small 9s. It's a gimmick to sell guns because of 'muh spec sheet.' The noob buys it, shoots it like once, hates it, and then puts it in a box. So, the gun manufacturer never has to work on it because the round count never gets up.

Great review of a great micro 9mm. Taurus is making a fine product, as of late. Their TX22 is a jewel. Other companies had better step up their games. Price and a big name doesn’t always equate to superiority.

The micro 9mm market is heating up 🔥
Another cheap knockoff of the Sig P365.
@@ericsande5345 Yeah that is where the money is made. None of these micro-9s inspire confidence in the new shooter. So that means they never get the round count up and never need maintenance. Love my GX4. It will eat anything I put through it without fail. My only complaint is that the stippling is a little too aggressive for me. I countered that by putting a Hogue rubber sleeve on it. The other thing is that with big hands, it's tough to get a good purchase on it. Solved that by buying two 13 round magazines. Now I've got a good hold on the gun, and it sure made a big difference.
