A big gun enthusiast for many years. Never owned a Taurus, but after testing this gun out, I hauled home and ordered one right away. I have been a HUGE believer in using the off hand for support on a micro 9mm and this gun delivered perfectly. I Put this gun as the Top in Class. Obviously Taurus studied all the designs and when they entered into the Micro 9mm race and they came out fighting hard to be Number One and they win. . Bravo to Taurus. This is a clear winner. Great review!

Awesome. Hope it's working for you. Have thought it's possibly one of the best designed handguns ever. Love the stamped stainless steel frame design. It's not how I would have done it myself (not exactly)... but it's a better design than some of the others in my opinion. I'm sure it has its pros and cons like all guns do... but it's definitely an excellent self defense handgun.

not at all. the Beretta 84 in .380 ACP is twice as good because it actually inspires confidence in the shooter. these micro-9s are gimmicky pieces of junk. new shooters get them, can't shoot them because of the prohibitive recoil, so they put them in a box and never shoot them again. that means the manufacturers don't ever have to do work on them because the round count never gets up. it's a gimmick. Beretta 80's series, even chambered in .32 ACP, are better guns that fill this role more adequately.

I think you have great intuition! If you look at the frame design this is a shrunk down version of the TX22 frame design chambered in 9mm. Look at the backstrap, trigger shoe, and frame shapes, and then the grip cuts, indexing areas, and stippling patterns; they are all TX22 inspired. In my opinion, this is a good thing,, because it is what I had hoped the G3C would have been. Taurus's 9mm segment needed a freshening up of its frame design; not that the PT111 series pistols were bad by any means, but stippling, trigger, and sight upgrades does not a competitive new model make.

I already had a Sig P365. I don't know if it will replace my Sig, but I do admit that Taurus really nailed it with the GX4. I've purchased a number of Taurus handguns over the last couple of years and the quality is really there with all of them. Taurus quality in general, dating back to the first G2 has been really good. If the corporate people at Taurus stay on top of the game with releases like the GX4 and step up the customer service part, Taurus will have a bright future.

And I liked my G2 though I knew they could upgrade a few things which it looks like they went over and beyond with this model and the newer ones. Plus the build quality looks way better than that of the G2 and earlier striker fired pistols by Taurus. Did not know it has a lifetime warranty, that’s amazing. Great review as well.

Affordable, reliable, for contingency situations or guests at the homestead. Don't be afraid of Taurus. They are not the same company of old. Love my GX4. It will eat anything I put through it without fail. My only complaint is that the stippling is a little too aggressive for me. I countered that by putting a Hogue rubber sleeve on it. The other thing is that with big hands, it's tough to get a good purchase on it. Solved that by buying two 13 round magazines. Now I've got a good hold on the gun, and it sure made a big difference. This is my third Taurus firearm, have a TX22 and a G2C, and I have yet to have a FTF or FTE on any of the pistols. I am really tempted by the GX4. I am fortunate to live near the Geneseo factory for Springfield so I usually buy those. I've only needed warranty work once on a 1911 so I drove over there, explained in person to the guy who would be working on it what my issues were. A few days later when I picked it up he came out and showed me everything he did. All I cared about was that the slide was getting scratched where it disappears inside the dust cover. Well Springfield gave me all new internals (barrel, trigger, etc) and he hand refinished the whole thing and precisely fit it all together. So it basically takes a lot to get me to buy a non-SA gun but for the $$$ I think I might pick up this Taurus GX4! I just hope if I ever need work on it Taurus impresses me as much as Springfield did.

Great review of a great micro 9mm. Taurus is making a fine product, as of late. Their TX22 is a jewel. Other companies had better step up their games. Price and a big name doesn’t always equate to superiority.

There is a gun keychain that comes with it. Where the magazine is on it is the tool to take the gun apart.

My first pistol was a Taurus 357 magnum when I turned 21. I looked down on all new Taurus but being made in Georgia is new to me.

That's where gun-tubers make their money. No new shooter can shoot these small 9s. It's a gimmick to sell guns because of 'muh spec sheet.' The noob buys it, shoots it like once, hates it, and then puts it in a box. So, the gun manufacturer never has to work on it because the round count never gets up.

I like the looks of it, seems simple but good. I would like to see a company like Palmetto State Armory get into this game of micro double stacks as they seem to produce and engineer a lot of their own firearms with great success. I feel like something like this would go along perfectly with their mission statement.

Shooting low: many of these compacts and subcompacts are sighted for ammunition more around 124 grains; 115-grain stuff will hit lower. I know a couple of mine are like that, including my PF9.
I've yet to try out my G2C, purchased maybe two years ago. This G4X looks like a strong contender in this class. I'm certainly intrigued.
