  • A relatively smaller series coming to the channel, this video seeks to provide a complete overview of the small size Silver Certificate 1 Dollar Bills - everything from what they are worth to how many series' there were to how star notes and full bill serial number run packs are valued. We'll start with an introduction and move to a presentation on the 1928 1 Dollar Silver Certificate, 1934 1 Dollar Silver Certificate, 1935 1 Dollar Silver Certificate, and 1957 1 Dollar Silver Certificate. There are some series with very valuable star notes and others that are significantly more common, so it pays to be informed and know what to be on the look out for if you are bill searching, bank strap hunting, currency hunting, or anything of that nature. The information is also good for casual banknote and currency fans as well.

    Very nice video
    I started collecting small size notes in the 80’s
    I have a nice size collection of ones thru 100’s
    And many varieties only the 1928E has been unattainable due to auction outbids or budget constraints nonetheless small size notes are a fun part of the hobby and highly educational a well
    Keep the good work

    Ty for this video, very informative. The 1928 $1 silver certificate was also referred to as the funnyback. These are nice to have in any collection. The 1928 funnyback has the blue seal on the left obverse. After the crash of 1929, all silver certificates have the seal on the right obverse.

    The meaning of the letter following the "Series Date" is the "changing of the Treasurer'" 1935 (first Treasurer for FDR), 1935A (next Treasurer for FDR) 1935 C (third Treasurer) and so. Therefore, the date of printing can be determined by which Treasurer served under which POTUS. The later scnotes of 1935 were actually printed in the 1940s.

    Christian, do you have anything on bank notes? I saw a $10 bank note with a standard obverse, but had a bank of Syracuse. New York (if I remember the city correctly) on the reverse, about 20 years ago. I don't remember the year of the note, though.

    • @TreasureTownCoins
      @TreasureTownCoins  4 года назад

      Hi Huckfinnsj - those are probably national banknotes. The Syracuse should have been on the front, though. Maybe something like this: collectiblenotes.com/product/10-1929-syracuse-new-york-ny-national-currency-bank-note-bill-ch-13393-fine/

    I have a question I don't know if your still looking at these videos but if you are. Can I ask if your 1935 silver certificate is printed almost all the way to the left side does that change the value? I know you said they are worth 1.50 but I can't find any printed that far over like mine

    • @TreasureTownCoins
      @TreasureTownCoins  2 года назад

      I would look at eBay sales - it probably needs to be printed off of the actual note the paper is on to have much premium.

    Most 1935G notes didn't have the motto "In God We Trust." However toward the end of the series 1935G there were those printed with the motto.

    #4:57 I recently purchased both $1 Silver Certificates ("Funny Back" Series 1928 A & "Regular Back" Series 1935 A) at one of my coin club's auction. There is a slight difference, however, between the SCN (Silver Certificate Note) in your video and my note. Your note shows the "Series & Date" in the upper left, while my note has the "Series & Date A" at the bottom right. Slight change in design? #9:28 You forgot to mention the SCN's with the motto "IN GOD WE TRUST" on the reverse above "ONE" in the center of the note. These notes were printed after WW II, during "the Cold War" and "McCarthy eras (still continues today)🤦‍♂️ .

    The problem I see is that you are telling my how much fiat I will get for this paper note. If a certain bill was printed back in 1935 for example, it should be worth what one dollar of silver should get you back then today!
