The funny thing with SID is that it's actually a complete synthesizer with filters and all. From the start it was really not that used, but I hear you got some good talent with your songs. keep it up!
This compilation is awesome and I used to have a disk of it, in order to test C64 sound. Problem is that after almost 15 years the disk failed and the link is not working anymore. For anyone looking for this amazing compilation, you can use the internet archives and still download the .d64 in the description
*thumbsup* GODLIKE!
Hey, do you know of a good C64 emulator? One that would make it possible to play old C64 games on a PC without a joystick? What about an Amiga emulator?
@HangmanC64 - Yes! But which one??? I was sure this was the loader for 'Frank Brunos Boxing' on the C64 but I cant find it so I'm probably wrong. You sure its made by Hülsbeck?
True, it also works for RUclips. You only have to choose the right channel to record, mostly called "Playback", "Stereo Mix" or "WhatUHear" or something like that. Remember that some cheap (On-Board) produce Background noise or DC offset when recordig this way. On very ols systems you can connect the output jack of the soundcard to the input jack (But this produces even more background noise)
The C64 was setup in a way that (in theory) you could have had something like 64 SID chips installed (The memory associated with the chip was ghosted, so every 64 bytes or so it repeats back to the one single sid chip (the middle address bits were ignored basically)...it would have been interesting to see what could have been done with 4 to 16 sid chips each doing its own instrument.
@miccia7581 Marko Albrecht, also knows as Mark 'Oh, with the song Tears Don't Lie. It's a happy hardcore song that came out 94-95, around when happy hardcore became more melodic.
Thanks. I found one, CCS64 v3.7 and it is really easy to use. I found a torrent with over 6000 games and I was reliving the old days playing Last Ninja, Microprose Soccer and Wizball. Though sans joystick, I'm crap at them!
HELP! My c64's sid sounds muffled compared to what i hear on the internet. Listening to this is very comparable to my sid in clarity. So does a real SID just not sound clean? Or is it time for new filter caps?
It's 10 months ago that you asked, but in case you didn't get an answer yet: The original SID (6581) comes with filters that are somewhat different to what was intended by engineer bob yannes. Also, every revision of that chip sounds very different to another revision of the same model when it comes to the filter section. there are even silight differences vom one chip to another of the same revision. The filter issue was fixed with the newer model (8580), mostly found in the C64C and C64G. which sounds quite clean compared to the old one.
FinnishKicks $ is the directory listing.. if you type load "$",8,1 and type LIST afterward it'll print a list of files and directories currently on the floppy
I wish they would have somehow included a SID chip in the Amiga 500/600. PCM is great, but it would have been nice to have a synth chip too...and the SID is awesome.
i like the commodore from a nostalgia aspect (im 15, dont know how that works) i guess it was marketed well and what people bought and remembered. my personal favourite is the amiga cdtv, but i like the original amiga team much more than commodore.
niice, yeah i'd be interested. i have a 90's toshiba with a wifi card. it used to run arachne but lynx is nicer imho. i have amiga 500's, a 600, but my collection consists mostly of mainstream 80's game consoles.
@Zeandanielz And the song goes like, "she can ban you, ban you so hard", so really its a song about a bot. I think that the boat in the video is some kind of a diversion to confuse people =) I even remember saying that "isn't this song about a boat, what the hell" to my friend when the song came out =D...just look it up from example wikipedia. I just hate when people state complete bullshit as an hard fact. BTW, great SID's , didn't even know C=64 could produce some of those sounds.
@flyeralan Certaionly one of or not the best synth tool. I recently resdiscoverd an emulator built into LMMS (sequencer and synth tool) and started playign again. I ned to stop pimping it really or ill prob get done for spam.. but its a brilliant bit of open source software.
I just uploaded the music. I posted it here as a video response. You can download sid tunes for free. Search with google for high voltage sid collection and download a free sid player such as sidplay. The sound emulation is pretty ok in my opinion.
amazing... it sounds much better than in c64 emulator.... listen the first minute from "Fred Vom Jupiter" (specially at 31 secs) 6:35 from youtube video.... and compare it with emulated c64..... no words
For those people who do recording this way at the first time: Have a look at the record meter, that the record signal isn´t too lound, or you´ll get clipping.
Unfortunately, the sid emulation of SidAmp is *FAR* from being accurate. I'd recommend to use SidPlay2.5 instead and save the file as .wav and then convert it to .mp3 :)
lol after theese years the C64's sound synth is one of the best sound systems ^^
The funny thing with SID is that it's actually a complete synthesizer with filters and all. From the start it was really not that used, but I hear you got some good talent with your songs. keep it up!
No Emulator can produce a sound like the real SID. Thank you for uploading a real SID-tune!
great version of "boten anna" :) sounds very good.

The roughness of 8bit sound always sounds more outrageous, hence much better than anything real. Excellent music.
Danke dir für die Compilation als .d64 - gleich in WinVice reingehauen :)

Echt klasse gemacht, auf jeden Fall! *thumbsup*
GODLIKE!
Hey, do you know of a good C64 emulator? One that would make it possible to play old C64 games on a PC without a joystick?
What about an Amiga emulator?
back in those days every console or home computer like the c64 had its unique sound.
The sound from the sid chip ist so 80s! love it!
hey guys, I'm here again because I always come back to these great sounds...they rock!
"Tears dont lies" and "Fred von Jupiter" are really cool on C64 :)
Thanks to shere it!!!
@HangmanC64 - Yes! But which one??? I was sure this was the loader for 'Frank Brunos Boxing' on the C64 but I cant find it so I'm probably wrong. You sure its made by Hülsbeck?
So geile Tunes ... da werden Erinnerungen wach! Danke dafür! Cheers!
Great Mix, daddler! It's Real Fun to listen to. Cheers, mate.
Very Nice, Sorry my English is not so got, waht is this for ah program ??
That C64 is about to explode!
I think you pushed it past its limits! lol
True, it also works for RUclips.

Living on video was originally in the UK charts in 1984, some 24 years ago.
What earlier Hulsbeck tune was similar?

Oh my gosh !!!! A C64 conversion of a Basshunter party song :D
@Zeandanielz
It does not mean "the boat anna", the song is about a Bot named Anna, who controls download "channels" at dc++ =).
@miccia7581 Marko Albrecht, also knows as Mark 'Oh, with the song Tears Don't Lie. It's a happy hardcore song that came out 94-95, around when happy hardcore became more melodic.
Yes it did. It's hard to believe that a fair number of rival computers were only capable of beeping and clicking, unless they were upgraded.
lol, groovy :) some of the drum sounds are like whips hehe
Fook me! U just made my day. Awesome job m8! =D The memories the C64sound bring to life gives me chills down my spine !!!
Very nice, I liked the program, and runs like charm. I'll use it with all the sids i have
Wasn't Living On Video used as a loading theme on some C64 tape games?
Thanks.
I found one, CCS64 v3.7 and it is really easy to use. I found a torrent with over 6000 games and I was reliving the old days playing Last Ninja, Microprose Soccer and Wizball. Though sans joystick, I'm crap at them!
I wish they still made these chips or you could reproduce them somehow!
@MageAtYou what's the name of this song?
so, how do you use it? ive loaded it into CCS64 and nothing works, space just reloads the menu but i cant play any song.
Thank You... 4 memoires.
I just got a working Commodore 128 from dumpster :D, i need to test some of this legendary sid music on that machine!
do ya know the CUS format? it's basically a HI-FI SID which was used for great tunes like hybris and midnight resistance :)
no way this song! did you make these .sids?
what's the name of the second song(mark oh remix)??
is this possible through a datassette too?
HELP! My c64's sid sounds muffled compared to what i hear on the internet. Listening to this is very comparable to my sid in clarity. So does a real SID just not sound clean? Or is it time for new filter caps?

KaizerZord wat is the S command for?
FinnishKicks $ is the directory listing.. if you type load "$",8,1 and type LIST afterward it'll print a list of files and directories currently on the floppy
thyzzie ty
thyzzie KaizerZord You'll have to drop the ,1 in the end for directory listing.
?SYNTAX ERROR
READY.
The Boten Anna remix is awesome, even on winVICE, although it's not quite as.... great.
...and SidAmp it crashes often and blocks the controls of other plugins.
Where can I get Sidplay?
those are arpeggios, and thats because its a .SID tune, look it up its called AcidJazzed evening
Can somebody please tell me the name of the second song? I know it's a remix of a song by Mark'Oh, but what is the track name?
Wait never mind. It's Tears Don't Lie
I wish they would have somehow included a SID chip in the Amiga 500/600. PCM is great, but it would have been nice to have a synth chip too...and the SID is awesome.
I NEED a c64. the most lovely computer ever made.
That is one hella cool sidplayer app. :)
Hey die c64 und Amiga Zeit wird nie vergessen werden :D
c64 & Amiga 4 Life
awesome... i love this c-64
amazing sound... sounds much better than emulator
Very good job the best
Wow, this is great
another suggestion is to save the youtube video using one of the many youtube video saving websites or tools and then use the audio from that
Does anyone know where I can find this music player program? I really want one for my SX64!
The software you are looking for is called "SIDplay64" and you can get it here: sourceforge.net/p/sidplay64/wiki/Home/
Ramon Zarat Thanks!
Great song!
Amazing!!! I want to dance and play C64 at the same time^^
I love owning 2 C64's ^_^ they're so fun.
get the program called Audacity, and you can record it while you listen to anything ....so basically you can get any sound or music into MP3 format.
i bet this pushes the poor C64 to its limits :O
Great job!!! Love it!!!!
You can also use SidAmp for Winamp and use Diskwriting.
who made the song "Fred vom Jupiter"?
There's like 34000 sid tunes in The High Voltage SID Collection, it can be dowloaded from their website...
I made a little presentation using my MSSIAH, a homage to two '80s pop culture greats.
Paste title into the bar: QUINCY 64!
I hope my god and cross my hands that I will never get used to this!
+vicemanFIN oh! C64 lives!
i like the commodore from a nostalgia aspect (im 15, dont know how that works)
i guess it was marketed well and what people bought and remembered. my personal favourite is the amiga cdtv, but i like the original amiga team much more than commodore.
Can you reupload it :D ?
niice, yeah i'd be interested. i have a 90's toshiba with a wifi card. it used to run arachne but lynx is nicer imho. i have amiga 500's, a 600, but my collection consists mostly of mainstream 80's game consoles.
great sound on living on a video
this sounds so cool :)
Which command can open it? I'm 11 years old so forgive me. By the way great video.
I love "Living On Video"!
Awesome!
*downloaded*
I'm keeping this for when I get my c64.
The SID has such a fat and pure sound.
thx! runs great on my c64
Wow man thats hardcore!
@Zeandanielz

I have one =) 500+ games.. works great on my HD projector

Still the best sound chip.
hahahaha, hello mr Smart. That is the only song you recognized?
That's on the video under the heading of "Chip:". It says 6581.
I LOVE THIS... ;D

This is fucking awesome!
I remember they used to boast about the SID chip, now I know why! Lets just keep bringing the Commodore/Amiga back!!!
The concept of it being open to anyone needs to come back! Imagine this with better technology but the same amount of freedom!
i'm playing gabber nation on vice emulator. good times :)
sos un groso!!!!! exelente man!!!!
@NLGAMER1000 Bla bla? You're from Poland? By the way. VICE 64 rulez!
woooow nice!!! ;]
Unfortunately, the sid emulation of SidAmp is *FAR* from being accurate. I'd recommend to use SidPlay2.5 instead and save the file as .wav and then convert it to .mp3 :)
There is also a plugin for winamp that plays sid
Hardstyle? NO! Sidstyle!
Basshunter has gone to 8-bit with "Now your gone"
What's the second music called?
