I've been watching Shannon sense he was 16 playing in Wrathchild around Wv & Md. They played a Place called Shiley acres alot. A open concert arena in a field in Wv. A guy started it in his field and it took off had it for yrs had 3 or shows a month with 4 to 5 Bands every weekend from July to Oct. Alot of big bands played there

The first time I saw Wrathchild was at the Switch in Raleigh NC and they were playing covers, and it was maybe 50 people there! Plus they had a bass player and Brad just sang (if you know these guys you know Brad Divens played bass and sang). Fast forward maybe a year and in that year they would sprinkle in more and more of their own songs until they were 100% original and people would be lined up around the block trying to get in. Me and my 2 best friends (one of who lived about a block away from the club) got to know those guys and they ended up just staying with me and my friends every they played and Shannon didn't drive so he would grab a bottle of Jack and get me to drive him around to after hours clubs and this guy was a freaking force with more energy than any 5 other people I know! Lol. So I can just say I love this guy! And the rest of Wrathchild as well, but especially Shannon! And you're right! The best drummer I've ever seen live! Anyone remember the song Slave to my dick? All Wrathchild fans will know that one! Peace!

Shannon Larkin is pure awesome! Not cause we share the first name, but cause he is one hell of a drummer. He may just need to get dewormed. :) The entire band is above and beyond talent. If we ever have the opportunity to go to see live gigs again, would highly recommend seeing them when they come around. They do not disappoint!

I was in a band that opened for Shannon in Wrathchild and his band Souls at Zero ! He was amazing to watch and super cool ! His singer Brad Divens was the engineer on our first release ! Good times !!!

I met Shannon in 1982 at the Old Mill Inn in Williamsport MD when he was playing with Wrathchild. Not Wrathchild America. They had to change the name of their band or risk be sued because there was another band overseas that claimed the Wrathchild name. Opps!! Shannon and I played the video game "Galaga" in between sets. To those of you of the younger generation, "Galaga" is an old school big box video game. Shannon was so happy and content playing the drums and always had a BIG smile on his face. I'll never forget the pleasure and dedication I sensed from him when he played. Congrats to my friend. I always knew he would rise to the top with that kind of dedication and tenacity. Hope to see him again one day. D. Van Frederick, MD

I use to get to stage 50 in Galaga.. Also won 3rd place in the USA on Centipede WON $500 and bought some new Zildjian hi-hats. I played some of the same clubs as SL in 84

Been to a ton of metal shows, Larkin's style is second to none with the big, swinging movements.
Shannon Larkin is one of the best on the kit...so very underrated. His energy and animation is amazing. I see why he is 100 lbs...lol

He also recorded the drums for Glassjaw’s “Worship and Tribute” if you’re looking for more of him. I don’t think he wrote the pieces but there’s great drums on there.

If Art Blakey was alive today, I'd love to see him and Shannon in a Jazz drummer/Rock drummer drum off. If you've never watched Art play drums or have never heard of him, he's a beast. Even an Art/Neil Peart drumoff would've been epic.

I would never consider buying a set of Yamahas but Shannon is one of the few who has mastered ‘Controlled Chaos’! He looks out of control but he is very tight. Great band and Fantastic drummer!
Loved Shannon's work when he was in a fun old school thrash band, Wrathchild American. If you can find it, play anything from their album 3D. great mix of multiple styles, and he shines throughout the whole thing.

I go to Godsmack concerts just to see Shannon Fuckin Larkin play drums.
I see comments everywhere when people call larkin the best or one of the best true metal heads arguing about talent with blast beaters and bpm junkies. Greatness is people knowing you by your art. Bonham literally had a single pedal and I don’t hear many argue his greatness. Larkin has done studio work that far over powers the technicality of godsmack but when you hear a godsmack groove you think Shannon Larkin. Others with that type of signature…Danny carey. Neal peart. John bonham. Buddy rich. Thomas haake. Anybody going to argue their greatness? All different technical levels and styles but all on the lists of greats.
Shannon Larkin is an amazing talent without a doubt and so damn sexy to top it off. He is my all time favorite drummer for a lot of reasons.. amazing to watch him and I never get bored

I don't blame him for going where the money is but Godsmack holds Shannon's drumming back so much. He is a monster thrash drummer. I'd love to see him say f Godsmack and return to his roots. Godsmack is bubblegum rock, Shannon is being held back. He used to play unreal double bass back in the day. Oh well money talks.

Those of us in the 80's 90's Maryland metal scene got to see Shannon play when he was Skinnier then this! He drummed for Wrathchild & his own almost grindcore band called Kitty-Porn where he played drums(sometimes standing) Sang, & did show drumming Tommy Lee never thought of. It was Impressive. This music is below his pay-grade, but it's great to see the success- He is a great drummer.

I’ve been playing self taught since 2001 & I’ve definitely integrated his style of playing into my own!
I love his style & off beat China hits & fills & also have been listening to Godsmack for most of my playing! I’m a classic rock & classic heavy metal guy!
Today’s music is mostly shit so why not just stick to the best?!? I only listen to Godsmack & a few others from the late 90’s early 2000’s & I like Linkin Park as well used to be one if my favorites been to several shows also seem Godsmack twice from my row! The pics I took that night were INCREDIBLE!!!! Still have them & I was right in front of Sully’s set when they battled!
