    Loving your videos man! Great stuff! TVS kind of does a lot of unexpected things, I think they want to attract the RE J-Series buyers without having a large 350cc waterpump of an engine, so they have taken the O3C RTR 200 Engine, gave it a longer stroke to feel a bit like a thumper. Kind of funny how this is still quicker than Enfield's J-350 engine lol
    The GTT is basically the ECU's way of not letting the engine stall at lower speeds by increasing idle RPM slightly, it's not just because of the torque, this GTT is available on RTR 200 as well, which is a short stroke engine with not a lot of torque.

    • @ExtraDevyaa
      @ExtraDevyaa  Год назад +3

      Glad you like the videos mate! The J series engine has hella torque but the Ronin's powerplant isn't a slouch at all it really does leap ahead! Also yes I found out about the ECU intervention for GTT after I'd published this video via a biking podcast (I felt rather dumb xD) I've tried it out on the Ronin and the RTR it works great! Thanks a lot for your comment it's great to read such well structured and informative views of a fellow enthusiast.

    I felt the same way about the vibrations. The sweet spot seems to be between 2000-4000rpm. Once you touch 4000 the engine does not sound nice, as if its stressing.

    • @ExtraDevyaa
      @ExtraDevyaa  4 месяца назад

      In terms of sound this is a signature TVS trait. Lovely at low RPM but just monotonous noise at the top. Vibes are bad at the top too this is undoubtedly a low to medium speed city bike

  • @akshaykadam504
    @akshaykadam504 Год назад +2

    I like the looks of the ronin. But yesssss it has vibrations. Tvs should do something about vibrations.

    • @ExtraDevyaa
      @ExtraDevyaa  Год назад +2

      I like the looks too! However quite a few people disagree but that’s okay, looks are subjective. Vibrations are a big problem, on the way back from work today I touched 92 and there was so much buzzing throughout the tank that I backed off even though the bike is capable of going faster

    • @BrattyBiker

      It's a square engine, modded from the oversquare RTR 200 4V, it will be a bit vibey no matter what you do. It's basic physics.

    should TVS make a 450cc parallel twin, perhaps even a v-twin to make more highway capable?

    • @ExtraDevyaa
      @ExtraDevyaa  Год назад +2

      They could do that yes. But that’s still a pretty extreme move. In my opinion even if they have a 250- 300cc machine with relaxed ergonomics and they play around with the sprocket size and gearing ratios, they’ve got a winner on their hands for the highway.

    • @BrattyBiker
      @BrattyBiker Год назад +2

      TVS is not known for grounds-up engine designs for a long time. Their last entirely different performance engine, was the Suzuki Shogun (AX Architecture from the early 1980s) which lasted till the late 90s. Then came the Fiero, but fun fact is that this Ronin & RTR 200, the base architecture is from the Suzuki Fiero, if you don't believe me, take a close look at both of those engines & you'll find a lot of similarities It remained more or less the same, except for the addition of a 5th gear & a bigger bore for the RTR 160 & 180. Shit hit the fan when they saw the 200NS & had to rework the entire engine. The Oil Galleries were redesigned & internalized, Head was completely redesigned to house 4 valves, the block received Friction Reduction Coating (NanoFriks) and the bottom-end was fully redesigned to house a balancer shaft. This is why people praised the 200 4V for it's refinement & how super smooth the engine was. So much work, I wish they had considered an addition of the 6th gear but sadly it wasn't in their books. I believe they can very well play around with the current 5 speed box with entirely different ratios for their intended application, i.e The Shogun had a 4 speed gearbox, Shaolin was 140cc & had a 5 speed but the 4th of Shogun & 5th of Shaolin were exactly the same, whereas first 3 gears on Shogun was shorter.
      I think their partnership with BMW, is also to get into bigger bikes because BMW has more expertise & experience on this. They have also purchased Norton btw.

    • @ExtraDevyaa
      @ExtraDevyaa  Год назад +3

      This really was a very informative comment, thanks a lot for sharing mate. I'd love to see the TVS-BMW collab spawn bigger more capable multi-cylinder machines in the future it could really be a game changer.

    • @BrattyBiker
      @BrattyBiker Год назад +3

      @@ExtraDevyaa For sure! TVS is a very safe player, in the sense, they are rarely first to a new market, they take their own sweet time & bring something that achieves a good balance between features present on competitors. TVS has a hugely established manufacturing, sales & service network, that'd be hugely beneficial for BMW. If the days of TVS-Suzuki & Shogun's development are anything to go by, then this collab with BMW is gonna be frankly amazing for both parties.

      @@BrattyBiker i wonder why are all indian companies are stuck on 225cc capacity there seemes to be a lack of engineering talent in India to make bigger better capacity engines other than RE who do their design in UK. the need for bigger capacity bikes that run cool and are affordable has never been greater.

      go for ronin best fro city and highway and milage is good as well also comfortable sear and foot peg position with slipper clutch and technology loaded

    • @ExtraDevyaa
      @ExtraDevyaa  Год назад +3

      To be very honest neither of these bikes are great for the highway. They’ll do the job but there’s more apt options out there. Even if you’re not into riding fast there’s a certain baseline speed you need to hold on the highway which neither the Ronin nor the CB200X are comfortable doing for long durations. the CB is still better by comparison but not what I’d recommend. Ronin is perfect for within city limits if that’s your main use case. Provided that relaxed ergonomics are not your top priority I would recommend either a TVS Apache RTR2004V or a Yamaha MT-15. The TVS is still my pick of the two. It’s great on the highway and you can get 42-45+ kmpl in the city. The Yamaha takes a bit of a hit on the highway in comparison but the VVA system comes through for those long fast highway stretches reasonably well. You’ll even be able to get 50+ kmpl in the city as well. I hope I addressed your concerns. If you have any more questions I’ll be happy to help.

    No tyre Hugger is an issue during monsoon. No backrest is an issue for pillion passenger..

    • @ExtraDevyaa
      @ExtraDevyaa  Год назад

      The rear fender extends quite low and is also reasonably wide and close to the tyre which removes the necessity for a tyre hugger. TVS should have offered a backrest accessory since the seat length is quite less and pillion support isn’t that good. We’ve got an aftermarket backrest fitted to our Ronin.

    • @stonespider
      @stonespider Год назад

      @@ExtraDevyaa the close rear fender is the issue for the tyre hugger, i wanted to install a tyre hugger because of the wet mud flying on the pillion during this monsoon season.
      Backrest is a must for the pillion... Not sure why TVS isn't listening to it's RONIN customers feedback for a backrest.
      The aftermarket universal backrest are of bad fitting and low quality (the sponge tears). It also damages the grab rail.
