You haven’t done one of these in a while. I can’t get over the steadiness of your hands! Well done sir.
Me too!
Thank you so much, Luie! It has been a minute or two... 😊
Your control of that router free hand is amazing. Been watching you do these for several years, keep them coming. Bill
Thanks very much, Bill! I appreciate you sticking with me for so long!!
I cannot think of enough superlatives to describe your work on this bowl! It is so beautiful! God bless you, Brother! In honor of your Service, Semper Fi!
Thank you so much, my friend! Always appreciated. 😀
I absolutelly loved how you removed your signature foot/mortise and created a shallow foot closer to the borders. The beautiful "glass" don't touch the surface. Awesome work!
Thank you so much, my friend! I appreciate that feeedback! I wanted it to look nice and smooth from both directions 😊
After reading all the previous comments about all I can say is: I agree wholeheartedly. Thank you Rod, It's always a brighter day when one of your video's pop up.👍👍 Thank you for sharing. Have a great day and stay safe. 🙂🙂
Thank you very much, Glen! Very kind of you to say 😊
This design hearkens back to one of my favorite eras in art illustration, the Art Nouveau period. Nicely done sir!!
I appreciate that very much, Richard! 😊
Utterly beautiful,,, the product, your style and the craftsmanship we witness, all of it. Make 4 of them and have something for use in a church setting! Thanks.
Very kind of you, thanks so much!
I Love these type of projects of you. It was these type of projects that drew me to your channel. I just admire how you do the Router carving and I myself find it difficult to hold a router that stable. Absolutely beautiful piece this, I think you nailed it with what you planned. Great job
Thank you, Japie, I appreciate you saying so. As much as I enjoy it, though very time consuming, I need to do more... and will. 😊
@@RHumphrey i totally understand the time factor yes, thats why i enjoy everything. Yes, these carve pieces just brings the WOW factor into your channel. Thank you for making us such enjoyable content.
Every time I watch one of your videos, I learn something new! Thank you for your service and for your videos! Chatoyance!
Glad to hear that, John! Thank you!
That is beautiful! This is what I miss you doing. I could watch these videos for hours. All your work is amazing but these pieces are why I wanted to start turning. I still can't do this but one day I will try. Thank you for the video. It is just amazing.
That means a lot to me, Judy! Thank you!
Once again, a creation worthy of bearing your name.

That is one of the most beautiful bowls I have ever seen! You are an artist!
You certainly have a gift for design as well turning!
Thank you very much, Russell!
Stunning! Router work is way harder than you make it look.
So much better than a CNC. Beautiful design and colors. God bless.
I really appreciate that! CNCs have become so mainstream... I honestly wouldn't mind having one, but I'll keep doing things like this with my hands as long as I'm able. 😊
Excellent work Rod. Artistry. You have a very steady hand with the router. For me this would be the hardest step.
Thank you, Doug! Funny thing, the router was always that untamed beast sitting in the corner of the shop looking at me... It took some deliberate practice to tame it, lol
I love your creativity. Perfect! Your skill and teaching help me so much with coming up with ideas. I look forward to having more time to be more creative. Thank you once again sir!
Thanks so much, Melissa! 😊 I'm glad to know that!
🤗Design, color choice, type of wood used, and finish! = Splendid
Thank you very much, my friend!
You are a real artist. That is absolutely beautiful.

Beautiful Rod! I did finally get my lathe fixed.
Thank you, Bret! Glad to hear it😊
This is just beautiful! And although your hands on the router are steady, this makes me want to get a laser cutter! My wife thinks you are a bad influence on me!
Lovely! 🌼
Thank you, Margaret! 😊
Beautiful
Thank you!
Absolutely stunning! I just did my first project carving a design with a router - it definitely was not as easy as you make it look!
That's great, BlueLily82! Routers can sure be a handful! Thanks very much

Muito obrigado meu amigo
Trying to catch-up with all of your vids. No notification bells!?
Stunningly beautiful. The pattern is lovely, the wood is gorgeous and the workmanship is nothing less than excellent. The end result is something that will brighten a whole room. Wow!
Thank you so much 😀 I really appreciate that, Jon!
How can you see the lines while routing? Beautiful design in beautiful wood. Thanks for sharing!
I'm looking through the base window on the opposite side. It can get a bit tricky with all the dust! Thank you, Fran!
Just wow. How many hours did you spend free handing with the router? The stained glass looks amazing. Pauduk is one of my favorite woods.
I love Padauk too, except for the dust, lol! The routing took quite a few hours, breaks for resting my hands included... Thank you, Richard!
Wow, awesome work! I'm always hesitant to do freehand routing like that. Is the smaller bit easier to control? I'm always worried it'll try to pull away from me.
Thanks very much, Ben! Less than bigger, but the small bits still want to grab and go for a run, lol... for me it's all about maintaining a point of hand (switching back and forth between hands) contact on the project for control and stability.
@@RHumphrey thanks for the reply! Yeah I can see what you mean. Almost using the heal of your hand as a pivot point. I made a nice wide lean base for my small grizzly router, probably a good place to start.
What was the final thickness of the bottom of the bowl and the resin? That is always a very important measurement.
At the resin about 5/16"; at the foot (wood) about 7/16"; walls about 5/16". agreed, too thick is never good. This type/design needs a bit of structure, but it's still not a clunker. 😊
Any chances of getting a drill bit one day that gives a square hole shape so that you Gan go for something square-ish?
I usually just go with a smaller diameter bit to tighten up corners when I want to. The square bits are an option that you may see at some point...
Inspired by you, I tried my first one of these for a Christmas present last year. My flight was fine, but the resin was a disaster! There wasn't one square millimeter without bubbles. I couldn't have made more bubbles if I'd tried. Alumilite slow set. What resin did you use?
"Flight" = routing. Crazy device!
Flight is right, lol! Yes, Alumilite is some finicky stuff. Art'n Glow resin has worked great for me with this type of project... no pressure pot, 24 hour wait until workable. usually most or all bubbles rise and clear with a thin pour, as long as the wood isn't too porous, and/or is sealed first. I didn't need to seal this Padauk.
Hi Rod, I have to agree with Luie your skill when doing freehand routing is amazing.
I do love the end result.
Take care my friend.
Cheers, Huw
Thank you very much, Huw! Always appreciated!
Again as many times before I marvel at your creations! Can't wait to see more.
Thank you very much, I appreciate that!
It's fun to watch the intricate things other guys do with a CNC, but it's a special pleasure to watch you create your own design and then router it by hand. You are so talented...and patient! Another beautiful job.
Just so beautiful ❤ It’s life renewed and hope in a bowl. I love it.
Love that! Thank you, Darlou!
OMG THATS BEAUTIFUL INFACT VERY beautiful. weldone.
Very inspiring. The results are beautiful.
Brilliantly chatoyant indeed. A true masterpiece. Absolutely beautiful work my friend. See ya soon Brother!
Thank you, brother!
amazing! really great work!
Love this technique! Great work marine
That's a seriously gorgeous bit of work there! I wonder if some auto body polishing sandpaper (like 5k grit) would get a finish kinda like Obie's shine juice. That wood color, by the way...
Thank you, Pete! I might take the micromesh to the next one just out of curiosity... You're right though, it had a nice shine going at 1200 before the juice. I did buff it post video (post because my camera was off, ugh)
What a beautiful bowl, Rod! Paduk is one of my favorite wood to turn. It smells amazing! Thr stained glass etching is beautiful. God bless, give Edgar a scratch for me.
Thank you very much, Jane! Edgar appreciated the chin scratch 🐱😊
Truly stunning.... I'm glad to see that you're still putting out super quality work. Good job devil dog!
Thank you very much!
Lovely! From the idea, to the routing, to the turning--such talent throughout. Until the real thing finally arrives, this beautiful spring bowl lifts my spirits!
Thanks very much, Leigh!
Good morning, Brother.
Look at that! A spring morning walk right there in a beautiful wood bowl. Oh, the shine. His light shines through you to others.
A wood turner friend was talking with me just yesterday about a desire to begin working with stained glass. Can't wait to share this with him.
I can appreciate the time invested in this piece. "Enjoy the Process."
God Bless You
Thank you very much, brother, I appreciate that! Hope he likes it!
As always your projects don't disappoint. Amazing work. Keep it up. 👽
Much appreciated!

You're always so kind, Danella, thank you, my friend!
Looks great. Your inlay is very well done.
Thanks very much, Doug!
Such a steady hand...sneaking up on the line! Too pretty to put anything in. I'm sure the Mrs. Claimed this one. Great job !
Thanks, Roger! Exactly! no... I didn't ask her, lol, I listed it in my Etsy store. The price might scare away any potential buyers, but soooo much design, time, and work involved...
As always Rod, another beautiful turning cobber.🤠
Thank you, Daryl, Cheers!
