i also paid 20k for mine. bone stock 62k miles. its amazing.. looking into getting an exhaust and headers now
Nice to see a Coyote back on the channel after the departure of the white 19
Wow, Donny Renfro, very cool guy! He worked at our dealership very briefly, then left… one day We were talking about Mustangs, since the dealer I work for is all GM, I mentioned that I followed you and he told me you guys are really good friends. That was pretty cool to know. Small world. Can’t wait to see your progress on this build!
Welcome back. I bought my 13gt in 13 and haven't looked back. Was a drag/street car. Now it's transformed to a road course car.. with 700hp
I have the 2013 Mustang GT with the Track Pack and the engine is STOCK! Bought her new in May 2012. The only mods are a Barton 2 Post Shifter (IMO) the weakness of the MT-82 Transmission. I also did an Eibach Pro Suspension with a BMR adjustable Panhard rod. This set up lowers the front about an inch and 1.5 inch in the rear. The handling is greatly improved and still feels stock. The tires are Continental Extreme Sports UHP 255/40 19 tires all around. I have about 87K Miles and still on the original clutch and she still rocks. The last mod is the Ford Racing mufflers. It gives it a deeper tone and no drone. It used to be my daily driver and now she's my weekend driver and a garage queen. I can't wait to see your mods. KEEP ON ROCKING!
What do you recommend I get to help with notchy gears that sometimes won’t go in
@shsk8880 The 1st thing I did was change the shifter. I have a Barton 2 post shifter and I have no issues shifting 12 years and 87,000 miles layer. Still on my original clutch too. They say the MGW shifter is the best but I don't know as I am happy with my setup. KEEP ON ROCKING!
This is exactly how I want to set up my ‘12
Past 90 when issues start
That mustang looks minty 🔥🔥😰😰 I’ve never been a Gen 2 vs 1 or 3 kinda guy, I just love all the coyote platforms the same lol
It still has the front splitter and fender liners. I'm already impressed. 😂
Wow! I will be following this build and try to replicate with my s197 13 GT!
2012 gt here boss 302 mani and muffler delete and still
Keepin up and sometimes beating these newer cars
Great pic in a car. Really makes me want a s197 again. The 13/14's have aged well and are a perfect balance in everything i want.
Me too man I miss my 2012 gt 5.0 with brembo pkg and was a 6spd too🤦🏼♂️😢
It looks good! Glad you finally got it! I'm ready to see all the content with it down the road. I got a feeling the stock motor may actually survive the test
They tried blending paint into that hood . Thats what you are seeing Alex.
bumper also looks off colored too
Thank you for this early release.
2013 GT vs 2015 N/A "Red Car" Comparison gain per modification videos?
Yes sir
Should call it project "Blue collared" because its going for the average working man's build.
Finally a channel w some gen 1 content! Everyone has 10 speeds lol ( I don’t blame them) gonna be watching every video 🔥🔥🔥
The brembos on these are 4 pistons
Ty
Great vid looking forward to the info on every step
Sterling Gray is correct. I clicked on this video because this looks just like my 2014 GT I sold a few months ago, apart from the lack of window tint. Mine was a track pack, 6-spd with Roush axle backs. Other than that, everything else was factory. What's funny is that I lived in SC when I bought it for 23k in 2019.
Been following you for years now (since the good ol’ FB days) congrats on all the success and thanks for all the knowledge you continuously hand out.
I really miss my 2012 kona blue gt.😢
I've got same car with 6 sp. and black over top stripes !!
It'd be cool if you did a converter before boost. I'd like to see how it does with a pretty tight / PD blower specd aftermarket stall when it's still NA / E85 / , possibly headers (since it doesn't sound like turbocharging is in it's future), and of course tuned. Good video! Very relatable for a wide variety of what people actually end up doing with these cars.
Bought a 2013 base model gt with 75k miles and it’s now FBO with 139k miles with only a couple issues, including Driveshaft failed, thermostat, and now the 6th gear synchro is going out… (mt82)
Nice looking car. I had a corrosion issue with the hood on my S197 and ended up replacing it with an aftermarket hood from TruFiber. Apparently there was an issue with Ford’s manufacturing process with their hoods.
What a nice car all around I mean 20k and youre in a reliable 400hp+ V8 with RWD thats under 3800lbs. You cant really beat that. The engine looks great as well.
They're closer to 3600 lbs really so they're even better than you thought lol
That car looks amazing for as old as it is good job on the find, not a bad price either.
I know you already did the NA game thing with the red car but I really appreciate the process including doing the bolt ons since that's how everyone starts out usually. I know you aren't likely to invest in a manifold for this project but if yoy get bored I would like to see it just because. Also you have shown us tons of dyno stuff on the red car as well as dragy stuff BUT I'd like to see dragy/track numbers mod by mod since I feel that is a much better representation of what the parts are really doing, for example most of the manifold testing you did on the red car all showed similar power BUT the useable power curve was changes significantly over a stock manifold and I'd love to see you share how that effects performance on the dragy way more. Same goes for headers/cold air/e85 etc, can't wait to see the progress and excited to see what blower you decide to go with bicho
Gratz Tio Alex !!!! gen 1 back on channel , making my car relevant !!!!! Thank you !
Reminds me of my first coyote. Sterling gray 🙌🏾
Last year I bought a 2012 RS3 with 37k miles on it, super clean, paint 8/10 unmolested for 30K
I love these cars.
I’ve been debating on putting a gen 2 short block in my gen 1 mustang
I miss my ‘11. Tuned by Lund, fbo 6r 4C went 11.7s@117 in 4000ft+da
That's Mineral Grey and used to have one just like man I miss that car Enjoy !
Hurts my heart these cars where 10-15k 5 years ago 😢
Making me miss my s197 nowww
So excited for some gen 1 content!!
Love it! I have wanted to copy Donnie's build, but am always a bit late, gen2 was sold out so got a gen3r. Gen 1 Aluminator sold out , so had to build the gen 1. I bet your car will go 9's before my car is done 😂. Keep up the fun content!
Alex you're so dope man. Thanks so much for your awesome content! Taking notes every day 🤓
No better looking Mustang than an S197❤
some tighter shocks and struts do wonders for these S197s, love it, just like my brembo car
My gen2 s550 started vibrating in the crankshaft
I got a gen 1 coyote 2011 6r80 auto 39k miles right now
I bought a 2014 Premium Track Pack with 72k and almost every option. 20k miles later and I'm ready to install a VMP Gen3R. I've got boundary OPGs, a crank sprocket, and a refreshed timing job happening in the next week and I've already got a Mach 500 clutch installed. anything else I should do before I drop the blower on and get tuned?
basically have that same car but white, bought it in 2018 with 50k miles its now "FBO" 93 Lund tune with 103K miles only problem was driveshaft had to be replaced and the water pump died at 98k miles shes been a great car.
Same bought my ingot silver 401a package 14 gen 1 with 19k miles in 2018 in Georgia and brought it down to south Florida. Only has a Lund tune but plan on hopefully in the future getting a built engine from FFRE. And using my original motor for my coyote swap fox I’m doing all the body work, full frame connectors and tying and reinforcing it as well as mini tubing currently.
Call it
The Gray Bullet
Looking forward to the content. I picked up a 2014 Track Pack last September with only 800 miles on the clock.
Looks brand new.Good buy
Rumor has it that Rick and Nani is punching the air right now yelling, "NOOOOOOO!!!!!"
And now gen 1 prices skyrocket after this video lol
Yesterday’s price is not today’s price!!
Been looking for awhile and can't find a decent 13-14 Gt for less than low 20's that isnt high mileage or completely ragged out. Crazy times
@swsome I like the 11-12 better myself I just prefer them overall...I mean a loaded one with the then optional hid. They didn't become standard till 2013.
@@scottlepot I would own an 11-12 in a heartbeat with the right color and Brembos on it. But I enjoy the headlight upgrades and full track pack option of the 13-14 and upgraded rear tail lamps. I sold my 13' 5 years ago and regret it every day
Beautiful ride Alex. Maybe I’m weird, but I judge the care of a car by the rash on the wheels. If the wheels have rash, I’ll pass. If the wheels are clean, the owner was very meticulous. Nice find👍
Love it 🔥
That hood has been damaged and poorly refinished likely
My 2012 has all the same upgrades and it was labeled "Brembo Package" not a track pack..I believe that's what your car is as well. Ready for some nice s197 content!
I don't think that one is a track pack because the oil cap doesn't say 5w-50
This car will be perfect for me because mine is bone stock also great timing
Ready for this build! I have a 2012 with 178k miles has had a vmp on it the past 7k miles or so and has been really good to me.
Nice find congratulations. I can't wait for the content.
Wow she’s beautiful good looking car I have a full 2.3 kit if you’re interested
(Silver surfer !) ITS FLORIDA !! beaches , Bitches, and sand.
This is super interesting! I'm thinking of selling my 10 GT500 for a Coyote.
Claybar and paint correction might bring back the paint in the front.
You could get a Mustang GT with the Brembo Brake Package, and that package included a few suspension improvements over the standard GT. You could also get a 3.73 rear as an option, but it isn't the Torsen. My '14 is a BBP/3.73 car, but does not have the full Track Pack. IMO, Mustang GTs of this era need the BBP and 3.73 at a minimum and the Track Pack is another step up from there (bigger radiator, Torsen rear, etc.). The ultimate S197 is the '13 Boss 302, IMO, which has all the Track Pack stuff plus a beefed-up engine with an additional 24hp.
I love my Grabber Blue '14 GT and would someday like to find a '13 Boss in the same color.
Automatic tremendo maricon... JK looks great i always loved the look of those years especially the Boss 302
Sterling Grey Metallic, wheels are 19 x 9, they are heavy about 32 lbs or so a piece. I think the Brembo Brake package was wheels tires, front Brembo calipers and the strut tower brace. I had 3 of them 1 2011 and 2 2014s. Looking forward to the build, I think if I found a good example like yours I'd be tempted to pick it up. I'd wait for either Sterling Grey, Kona Blue or Ruby Red or Tinted Clear Coat whatever it was called.
Just picked up a clean unmolested 2014 gt 6mt with 8260 original miles! She’s up at 11500 ish rn and it’s bone stock with a solo performance axleback. I’m excited to go FBO 93 and lower it and see how much I fun I have
Thinking about getting back into a mustang soon it's tough choosing a year had a 14 , kinda wanna try an s550 but man those late model s197s are 🔥
I just bought a stock low mileage (45k) 2014 auto. I looked at a lot of cars including gen 2’s. Most were high mileage and modded and/or too expensive for a play car. I believe mine also sat a lot. It has some clear coat peel on the mirrors. My decklid is also faded. I’m very happy with my choice.
You should name the car Eleanor cuz it’s grey and it’s the modern interpretation of the classic fastback Mustang. 👌 I love these s197’s I have a e85 tune from LundRacing. Never switching tuners 💪
Man when I bought my 2012 it came with the GT appearance package so side window louvers, the decklid was that big plastic decklid which 11yrs later was horribly faded and the 3m tape was peeling off the car
Jean Grey! Love it
Name it Anastasia Steele(50 shades of gray female), that’s what I named my previous sterling gray f150
I would love to get your opinion on my 2011. About bolt on and tune. I seen you alpha podcast. Very acknowledgeable!
My girlfriend just got an S197 to go with my turbo Gen2. It was a bolt on 93 tune car. It could have been a bad tank of gas, but now it has the number 8 cylinder issue all motor . We just got it, and it had good compression. Now, I need to fix it
Such a good car!! People just don’t know cause they never had that ass handed to them by a S197 5.0!!
Sweet
Isn't that considered a gen 1.5. 2011-12 is 1, 13-14 is 1.5 right? Didn't they do a slight engine tweak?
About right I paid 19k for 60k miles
Does anyone else think this car looks like a modern Fox body? Cause I see more of like 1969 and earlier 60s model cues in it…specifically the Boss 429
The 11-14 both driver and passenger power seats had recalls and would freeze in position. Thats likey why the driver seat panel was out.
Bought my Ruby Red 2014 in 2016 for 18K
Front bumper looks mismatched the hood probably has over spray. Overall great car tho 👍
Nice ride. Definitely not a track pack car, it’s a Brembo brake package car. Oil cap says 5w20 not 5w50. Also if you are keeping those wheels, it needs one new centercap on passenger rear wheel, the black sticker is missing.
Spend 4k and slap a supercharger on that bad boy
Hey Alex I have the same car auto and brembo from the factory different color
I went 11.50s-11.60s in my 2012 GT with only a circle D 4c, CAI, Nitto DRs and 93 tune ( spare and jack delete 😁). South Carolina here too.
I wouldn't be shocked if it had some type of car cover on it that caused that damage.
Seems like your front bumper has a different shade of gray than the rest of the car. Maybe a prior accident and a poor blend job on the hood?
2014 Gt 6 speed here, 14k original miles. Same Color as this one with a Brembo package on it.
I have a 11 mt82 car with 331s, what would be a good build for a roll car
Damn I bought my 2014 at the wrong time! Paid $30k 2 years ago and the prices dropped almost immediately after that. But it did only have 25k miles on it and it's super clean! They're by far my favorite generation of mustang!
Dollar isn't what it was, but I bought my 2013 GT Premium with 7k miles in September of 2014 for 26.5k and traded it a couple years later for 20k.
@BadBackOz I saw 13/14 cars with superchargers for only $20-25 within just a couple months of buying mine. Really sucks but it is what it is. I plan on keeping it indefinitely anyway.
basically the exact car i have, but its a 2014. also they cant even do burnouts on a stock tune in the 13s and 14s
Got mine for 20K and 6700 miles on it untouched . But 6 years ago lol
I think it should be called Silver Fox because that’s an old man spec lol
I was sliding out of mine and my cowboy boot hooked the plastic panel on the side of the seat
Sterling grey I have a 2014 in the same color
I wonder if there is damage behind the front bumper? Paint looks much different than the rest of the car or its due to the car bra
I want me an old man mustang lol no mods just stock. That looks good for 70,000 miles
I'm not 100% sure but I'll m pretty sure that it might in fact be a track pack car. Only because I always thought that those rims are exclusive to track pack....
That might fall under the recall with the paint on the hood
Speaking the language of my people!!!
