1st .. I enjoy the Jeepneys in the Philippines. However, if there's a lot of traffic, the fumes can bother me so normally We'll ride buses or cabs when there is traffic. That's cool that you are just getting out and wondering around the Philippines.
Air conditioned buses are so affordable in the Philippines. I have taken upwards of 10 hour bus rides just enjoying all the many thing, people and happenings you see along the way. That's the way to go! No plan, no Schedule, no expectations. If you got on first Jeepney and went a full circuit, roughly how many Miles and Cost? I know it varies, just Ball Park
14 months ago, I broke through and started wandering again like when I was a teenager. It started with walking for an hour of so in a direction I never went before, then going down some side streets. It was always between 10 and 3 (mid-day) I also jumped on a jeepney and headed to the hills. It is a great feeling, exploring again.
I think you chose well picking the Philippines , I'm on my 10th year here and still enjoy the cheap travel cost . my last beach trip in America 12 years ago with my Ex wife and teen son cost me 6k for 7 days and 13 years later with my Philipina and I took her family to the beach and i only spent 1100 usd and that was for 12 of us . I had a blast and my Philipina treats me like her king .
@@Ex-Pensive_Expat Thank you , love watching your videos because you are so honest about the Philippines and the cost . We built our 100 square meeters house in 2017 with a sari sari store and i was shocked how cheap it cost .We rented the first 3 and a half years . i'm 63 and my Philipina is 51 , I did the 62 on my social security because I already have 2 retirement plans and it's just extra .
Seems like a logical option for a person to consider doing. Even if they treat it as a decade long vacation before going back to the states for fear of declining health it would give a person tremendous stories and memories.
Great stuff I'm a wanderlust kind of exploring guy as well. I'm born and raised in San Diego so always love to hear you reference it. How did you adapt to the heat coming from SD?

Electric is expensive here. The local golf cart type are great from what I can tell because they don't travel far. But cars?? Like electricity most everywhere, it's created with coal or oil. Not wind or water flow. If it was,, cheap there's no place to charge except at private homes. Electric sounds clean. But when it uses petroleum to create??? And no infrastructure / charging stations?? Not at this point. Natural gas would be best at this point I think
But you ARE Santa Clause, right? Didn't you play Santa Clause for the local children when you got there? I think you told us in a previous video? I'm so envious everytime you post a video. Not even gonna try to hide it! Enjoy! 🎅🏝🏞🌴😘💕

The bananas here are ripened on the tree and grow year round. They have a much more intense flavor compared to what I was used to getting from Costco there. Just keep you wallet in a place they can't get too it. I think most pickpockets are smaller children. Let's face it if Pickpockets are your biggest concern you got it made. Hahaha... Tell your friend that Covid lock down happened a month after I tuned 65. I was self employed so Had to to finish and when the Philippine also locked down I was just waiting for it to reopen. I move here about a month after it opened up again. The extra was nice though
1980 I was 21 years old and my life was in a rut. To reboot I decided to enlist in the USAF and chose a job that was overseas only. I really wanted out of my comfort zone. I ended up in Turkey for a year and then Spain for 2 years. It gave me the bug to live as an expat. I've since lived and worked in Australia, Malaysia (17 years), Indonesia, Norway, Netherlands and the Philippines. Currently back in the USA for much longer than planned but I keep going because in a few years it's back to Indonesia with a foodie stop over in Malaysia which has the best food in SE Asia.

Wow "slab city or the Philippines" I doubt many know what your referring to But I do.
Great Video....
Yes. It was similar to an idea that crossed my mind. I'm sure many didn't completely understand
I think you've found the right niche doing RUclips videos. You have the voice to be successful. Good job from Davao Philippines
Wow. Thank you so much!
That's the way to go! No plan, no Schedule, no expectations.
If you got on first Jeepney and went a full circuit, roughly how many Miles and Cost?
I know it varies, just Ball Park
Three hours at $4.50 each way. The hotel where the I filmed the panoramic video was $27.25 a night. Entrance fee to that fair grounds 27 cents
Great video, was wondering if you were going to do any more house hunting videos showing long term rentals. Thanks DonnyB.
I have started a couple but none actually turned into a deal. I will be doing one or two maybe next month. I will be traveling until then
14 months ago, I broke through and started wandering again like when I was a teenager. It started with walking for an hour of so in a direction I never went before, then going down some side streets. It was always between 10 and 3 (mid-day) I also jumped on a jeepney and headed to the hills. It is a great feeling, exploring again.
What area are you in??
Darrell sounds like a very affordable way to spend a day
Yes and so very typical of many places in the Philippines
I think you chose well picking the Philippines , I'm on my 10th year here and still enjoy the cheap travel cost . my last beach trip in America 12 years ago with my Ex wife and teen son cost me 6k for 7 days and 13 years later with my Philipina and I took her family to the beach and i only spent 1100 usd and that was for 12 of us . I had a blast and my Philipina treats me like her king .
That's such a "Philippine Story" You're a lucky man..
That's awesome. So you're here now?? Did I understand correctly?
@@Ex-Pensive_Expat
yes i am here now , I came back here on march 9th 2023 , I will exit first week march 2026 for one month .
We should get together at some point. Maybe do a video. So many could benefit from hearing your story. Without all the Vlogger BS out there
I just referred my friend Jeff to follow you. I told him about you. 😊
Thank you!! How's your trip going
@@Ex-Pensive_Expat it's going great!
Seems like a logical option for a person to consider doing. Even if they treat it as a decade long vacation before going back to the states for fear of declining health it would give a person tremendous stories and memories.
Absolutely . Coming here never has to be tied to leaving or staying. I call it slow traveling. A bit more about that in my next video
Between 13 and 17 I hitch hiked all over the US !😊
Nice!! I lived in a hippie commune for a bit of that time also
See you in October
Excellent mt friend
I wanna be your neighbor!!!
Just curious about medical... Such as hospitals, insurance etc...
My experience with hospitals is limited. My Doctor and other experiences has been awesome
Enjoy your attitude on life! What are you filming with?
I'm using a DJI 3. It's been an amazing camera.
Great stuff I'm a wanderlust kind of exploring guy as well. I'm born and raised in San Diego so always love to hear you reference it. How did you adapt to the heat coming from SD?
Not a big change. It's drier there in general But it gets much hotter in San Diego
Whatcity was your initial jeepney terminal in that you rode all the routes from?
Porac Pampanga
Side question but do you remember what month you were there? The weather looked great there.
I've been here 10 month is this house and originally got here first of March to the Philippines. How everything there? I will be in Dallas September 6th
@@Ex-Pensive_Expat All is good. Just taking it day by day. Helpin a buddy move today Ive been in that position moving alone so i dont mind helping since I have the holiday off.
😲 Don't believe in 🎅!?! Well I guess there's all types out there in the world.
Hahahaha.... Thank you for watching.
I'm curious about your opinion on those cheap chinese electric vehicles, Chang Li's, Coco's etc and how they would help or not help in your situation.
@@Ex-Pensive_Expat Thank You for Responding!
YW
thanks for sharing this with us. tell me about the girl at 2:11 did you stop and talk to her?
I didn't talk to her. But she seemed friendly enough. Not many expats ever make it out there.
But you ARE Santa Clause, right? Didn't you play Santa Clause for the local children when you got there? I think you told us in a previous video? I'm so envious everytime you post a video. Not even gonna try to hide it! Enjoy! 🎅🏝🏞🌴😘💕
Yes I did play Santa. It was an awesome experience. When are you going to come and have your. own amazing adventure
@@Ex-Pensive_Expat Ha ha! I thought you did! I'm desperately trying to get my property sold, affairs in order so I can go see the world! It's gonna happen! 👌💯
What area are you in now? Is there a way I can help you?
👍👍👍👋👋🇺🇸🫡🇸🇽
Thanks!!
You must live near Manila?
Yes. about 6 KM or about 35 miles north
You are the Huell Howser of the Philippines
Thank you for the compliment Phill
Them bananas looked good
Filipinos eat so many bananas. Always and every where
@Ex-Pensive_Expat i didn't like the bananas in thialand. But them look like the states bananas . Hey.....see alot about safety and pickpockets in ph. Any tips. I know to stay out of Manila. Looking at cebu and bohol. I also do u tube. Like your content. It's genuine
Hahaha... Compared to America it is so very safe here. Stay out of certain areas of Manila Chicago and LA. Especially Chicago and LA
@Ex-Pensive_Expat I was heading to bohol but am deciding on bagio for the weather. And it seems outside bagio is were you are finding the good cheep rentals. Don't care for hot weather. Looks like I have to land in Angeles to get there. Still researching.. flying on the 15th
@@Renovegas6109 What are your plans when landing?
But what you fail to tell us is that you live on an active volcanic region on the ring of fire. Good luck holmes.
So do people on the US left coast. So what?
I thought everyone already knew that. Best part of the adventure. Living on the edge my friend
What do you mean you don't believe in Santa? Lol
Hahaha.... As long as you understood my meaning

@@Ex-Pensive_Expat Yes, I was just having fun. I am jealous that you are in the Philippines. My health and being married makes it a no for me. Best brother.
@@danplaysbass6294 I knew you're joking and just thought you might enjoy the Santa video. Take care my friend
@@Ex-Pensive_Expat Yes I had already seen that. Enjoy your videos. Keep at it, please.
I’m sure a lot of your subscribers are Filipinos leaving abroad on the fence of returning to the Philippines to retire.
It’s ironic an expat can show us a thing or two on beautiful the Philippines is.
I'm learning more every day my friend. So lucky to be accepted here
So what your saying in the Philippines it not azz, grass or cash to get a ride like back in America. 😂
Exactly Haha...
Why did you wait till you were 67 to do this? Because of the increase in SS payments? Asking for a friend.
Which country is your favorite? Indonesia?
@@Ex-Pensive_Expat I'm married to an Indonesian. All our social contacts are Indonesian. So yes, Indonesia. For food: Malaysia.
@@DrGaryGreen Oh hahaha... Hi Gary. I didn't look at the name when I was replying. I still haven't found a goo chiropractor here.
At almost 60 I'm trying to survive in Canada on less than $1000 month "pension". I'm stuck here. Can't afford to leave. That looks like paradise.
Try keeping and eye on airline tickets. Then watch my next video about a cheap home base and let me know what you think
Very good video..
Many many thanks. Nice too see you again Reno
