Some important info: The Kafiristani religion was an Indo-Iranian religion, just like Hinduism, Zoroastrianism, Yazidism, etc. These all descend from a common religion, in which gods like Indra, Yama, Dyaus, Agni, etc (these are the sanskrit names, the names are different in different languages) were worshipped, in which religious poetry and fire was really important, etc. This is why there are so many similiarities between these religions.

I’m no expert, but While Zoroastrianism has elements similar to the Abraham’s ones, it has “deities” similar to Hindu ones. Zoroastrians have demons called devas, which include Indra, and are like Hindu Devas. There was also a religion before Zoroastrianism which was also related to Hinduism.

A Kalash here from Chitral, Pakistan. This was an interesting video, and I hope we see more of this content on RUclips. I need to add some things here: Kafiristan was not always a part of Afghanistan. In fact, it was an autonomous region under the protection of the Chitral Kingdom, and often Kalash chiefs were made governors of Kafiristan by our Katoor kings. Kafiristan was occupied by the Afghans when Chitral came under the British influence, and the Afghans broke the peace treaty between Chitral and Afghanistan. The Katoor kings were our biggest patrons, and they were the ones who protected the Nuristanis from conversion by invaders; it was not only because they were isolated. When the Afghans attacked Nuristan, many Nuristanis moved to Chitral and continued their religion. The last one converted, if I remember correctly, in the 1980s.
Another thing: all of the images you used here are of us Kalash, not Nooristanis. Anyways, I enjoyed it and learned something new today. 👍🏻
Also, to my Indian brothers in the comment section, we Kalash are not Hindus. Our religion is much older than Hinduism and Zoroastrianism. 🙏🏻
    Greetings from Chitral ֎ 🇵🇰

what do u even know about hinduism to say anything is older/newer? Also, Hinduism is a dharma not religion, they are different things. There's solid proof of hindu deities being worshipped as far back as indus valley civilisation and who knows how further back it goes. So I'd also suggest the same to u as well, don't try to put forth any claims about Hinduism either.
I have no interest claiming kalash religion as part of hinduism. A few internet videos don't represent us. Do what u want.

Hinduism is a very diverse religion, or we could also say that it's the absence of organised religion. For example the gods and practices of different regions in India are very different from each other.
The primary god mentioned in video (imra) sounds very similar to god Indra, who is the king of all devtas (other gods).
I wish you well my brother.

The area of Kafiristan Watts visited was the Bashgal Valley, which was tributary to Chitral. The Eastern portion of Kafiristan was controlled by the Mehtar of Chitral and they gave him a yearly tribute and fought for him in times of war. The Katoor Dynasty of Chitral was always very friendly with the non-Muslim tribes of the region, both the Kalash and the Bashgal Kafirs.

Oh @Dev_Gurjar_Singh, let me enlighten you with some *accurate* history lessons. The Kalash tribe, contrary to your understanding, was actually defeated by the Raees people who came from China. It was our esteemed Mehtars (kings) who nobly preserved their community from various outside threats. Even today, the Kalash face attacks from Afghans at the frontiers, but the local Muslim community, who have always cherished them, continue to offer protection and support.
And let's clear up another misconception: the Muslims of Chitral are not outsiders. We are the original inhabitants of the region who converted to Islam. Our history is long and rich, evolving from fire worship to the establishment of the Kalash civilization. Then came the Raees kings from China who made our people their slaves. Finally, the noble Muslim Monarchs, or Mehtars, entered the scene and heroically defeated the Raees kings. So, next time, try to get your facts straight before making such claims 😊😊

My first tour in Afghanistan (2004) I served alongside an ASF (Afghan Security Forces; pre-Karzai) whose village had only finally converted to Islam from Paganism during his Father's early Childhood. And yes that is exactly the region of RC East where we were operating. I tried to get some more information about it, and he said "it is said they worshipped Demons/Devils(the translation was a bit muddied the Terp was a bit confused himself about the meaning of the word used), and Fire.
The description of the people doesn't quite hit the mark; I found the Nuristani to be remarkably striking in their features. They are, to use an archaic turn of phrase, a Handsome Race of People; and they are Daring to a Fault in Combat. One of our ASF was shot through both feet, and his legs were riddled with shrapnel; six weeks later he was back out on Patrol with us. These guys would almost beg to be allowed to go join a fight even if it was Green on Green, and they could tell who was fighting whom by the area we could hear shooting going on. "Don't worry, Boss; it's just fight over grazing for goats", or "Fighters, can we go?".

This reminds me of a story that I saw on a video that I can no longer find on RUclips. I think it was from the British show chronicle but it might have been from a different one but it was about the first non-arab to ever see Petra. The guy had to take like 2 years to learn the right language and grow his beard and everything and then find a guide to take him through this area where he would have been killed instantly if they thought he was an infidel. It was an amazing journey and I wish I could find the episode but it's somehow gone. I think they called it rose red City but there's so many references to Petra that are called that that the search doesn't help. RUclips does this thing where if you don't watch a video in a certain amount of time they take it out of your categories and so it's gone from that so I cannot find it anymore. It was an epic story though and the guy was nearly discovered a few times but he was a master of the language and survived to relate the story to a British archaeological and geographical group. One of those Victorian British explorers clubs

It was on a list I had that I called sleeping histories which were stories that I tended to fall asleep easily to. I'm not saying that they were boring or anything like that, they were all really good stories but also relaxing. It was kind of a strange thing because he approached somebody important from a geographical society with this idea of becoming the first non-muslim to see these areas and the things he had to do to even prepare for this mission were above and beyond. I think he had an unfortunate end and died of illness very young. This is all going off of the memory of a video I haven't seen in probably at least three or four years.

Pagan is not even an indigenous Afghani word, it is a Yahoodi word which comes from Christianity. You have no idea about your own language, your own terms and your own identity, and you are showing nothing but a fake pride to desperately hide your pain of being completely enslaved and humiliated for thousands of years by foreigners from the Middle East. Now you hate your own brothers and sisters from India just because THEY survived while you guys got DEFEATED.
Okay, keep crying. But we Hindus will not stop spreading the truth. Kalashas ARE Hindus, the word Kalash itself is a Hindu term. Too bad this beautiful region got succumbed to the ugly discriminatory politics and war waged by Muslims. This makes me, as a Hindu Indian, even more strict and patriotic about my country and strongly connected to my own religion, language and culture. Forced monotheism, Abrahamic values and their languages have NO PLACE whatsoever in India. Even our 200M Muslims today used Sanskritized language when indulging in intellectual debates, we are not interested in Arabizing or Iranicizing ourselves.
