This is very reminiscent of the old Where's Waldo books for me. The inking style, the scale of the image and the general design is very nostalgic feeling! it's a fantastic piece!!
@@vaughan2632 you can draw very simple figures but they wont necessarily look that good. to be able to draw a super simplified figure in an eyecatching way requires an understanding of the important details and how to shape them, whats ok to get rid of and what you have to keep. the simple artstyle makes it look deceptively easy to achieve!
I have never witnessed the process of creating a painting like this. It's beautiful and mesmerizing! Two things that struck me - the inking, after the sketch, it is like confirmation of reality. There is no way back and this/that figure stays in this world and is realized. The second one is the fact that creating such a detailed painting with so many characters, yet each unique, I imagine that when drawing or painting, every figure has a name. Or if not a name, at least something special like a code word which the author remembers them by. Because us viewers see the finished piece and the whole scene, but painting it one by one, well, I imagine that you spend a lot of personal time and focus on each and every one of the figures and are quite intimate with them. Thank you for sharing your world!
I used to draw castles sieges when I was a kid, as I was very, very fond of chivalry, knights defending the poor and the oppressed, strongholds, deep forests, and Middle age era overall... When I see this, I wish I still believe in it all and had such skill and talent as yours to draw so beautiful scenes. Thanks for sharing. 👍
Incredible. The tiny minute details. The scale. The art style. Definitely Waldo vibes, but totally unique piece. In ink none the less, and OMG after the colour!! ❤😮
As a fellow artist-just amateur oil painter-I am in awe of your talent! Truly well done! Please keep going, I can’t wait to see your next picture. I love seeing your process. Your style reminds me of David Macaulay. You’re telling a story with these images and it’s fascinating. Thanks!
Grandiose 👍 Acabo de conocer tu canal, y me a encantado. Tu trabajo es muy bueno. Y este castillo es mi favorito. Sigue adelante con tu buen trabajo. 🙂
I checked out your insta, etsy and website after watching-- this is so different from your usual style, but I LOVE it! I subscribed :) PLEASE making this available as a print! I love castles and medieval warfare!
@@josephmead8325 Thank you!! This style is where I go to relax and not worry about what publishers want in my portfolio, and to just draw as I like. I plan to have prints and originals available soon!
Just put aside the talent necessary to execute this for a moment & consider the astounding creativity necessary to create so many individual characters, doing their own thing. Being an artist myself, that to me is the more impressive aspect.
Precioso! Tu estilo es como de ilustración infantil, perfecto para un libro didáctico o un cuento. Me fascinó tu detalle y paciencia con este gran trabajo. 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Simply amazing. Someone mentioned it reminded them of Waldo and I had the same thought. Would have been cool to see some people with injuries, but other than that, this is brilliant. Bravo.
Wow. I like drawing small things a lot, but the thing is, I have to draw bigger to fill up the paper. I guess the solution is draw LOTS AND LOTS of small things!!!😆💕 Amazing art, as always. I feel like I'm a giant space alien looking at down at Earth with a magnifying glass! 😄💕 You've created a beautiful world.
Reminds me of one of my favorite books at the library as a kid, and just a few years ago a friend randomly gifted me the same book! I was stoked! Let's see, original language, "Cross-sections Castle", with illustrations by Stephen Biesty. Aha! One can even buy copies it seems! Just google it and it'll pop up.
Your work is awesome! It's remind of a flip book I used to read in library when I was young. It's been 30 years, and I still hope one day I will be able to see it again. Sadly, Im too young to remember the book title or the name of the writer. Whenever I see a booth that sell an old pile of books, Im still digging around, hoping one day I will find it : )
man i love that!! the scratchy looking lines are super interesting to look at, its surprising how neat they look despite being wonky up close :0 i was a little wary when you started to paint it because i wasnt sure if itd keep the same sorta vibe but it did and not only that but the colours really elevated the entire piece!! and the colours you used for shading are super good too, i struggle with shading colours so this is actually helpful :D i love the style of it too, the dot eyes and big noses, the scribbly look and watercolours really remind me of pictures in history books i used to read in class (they were the only interesting part of history class) also that sea monster is my favourite bit hes so cute
That was absolutely magnificent to watch. The best thing I've seen on YT for ages. I love the tiny details such as the poor dude hanging off the drawbridge, the anxious looking king in his tower, and that cowboy cracked me up 🤣Bravo and have yourself a new subscriber 🥳

I think we all need a print of this to get ourselves lost in that world and witness all their individual stories. 🙌
i can’t even comprehend how a rough sketch like that can become so detailed
The more "simple" the figure, the more skill it takes to draw
I figured that out trying to copy the style of those artists who literally just draw stick figures.
I disagree with that, Im not 100% sure why you would think that

you have such a steady hand, coupled with great patience to be able to draw all of these tiny scenes so meticulously omg
The cowboy friggin cracked me up when I saw it.
I love the thatched roof and how you were able to convey with just a few lines what it is.
I would love to see these in real-time, you're an incredible artist and I'm quite jealous of your imagination.
This is incredible! The level of detail is mind blowing! This piece must have taken hours! Definitely a Where's Waldo vibe. Wonderful!
That was so beautiful and SO educational! Thank you so much for sharing your process. :)
looks like a Where's Waldo illustration. Amazing.
when i saw this i immediately pulled out my old waldo book form when i was younger and flipped to the siege picture

I'd forgotten how fun dip pens are. Inspires me to get mine out and start playing again. Love the quality of your work and your choice of subjects.
Absolutely adore your style & dedication. This is what I imagined as a kid when I'd draw those big stick figure battle scenes 😂
❤❤❤❤❤ simply amazing... all the sounds just comes to me along the drawing strokes, the wind, the wave, the clashing of the swords.. Thanks. ❤❤❤❤❤

Big Stephen Biesty energy here. His Cross-Sections Castle book fascinated me with how detailed (and incredibly gorey) it was.
