- Hillsborough semi-final, infamous for two things:
The severe crushing that injured nearly 40 Tottenham fans at the Leppings Lane end.
Clive Thomas' penalty award for Hibbit's dive.
The fa never took heed of over crowding in the leppings lane stand years later 96 fans died in that stand when Liverpool played forest in a semi final so easily could have been avoided but f a did nothing as usual
Leppings Lane was a awful terrace with that pen system the entrance tunnel lead straight to pens 3,4and 5, which are right behind the goal so, of course supporters would head straight for them. The 20ft high fencing at every ground was also a death trap. But nobody cared about football supporters in those days.
I guess that's where the expression 'doing sweet fa' originates from...
@@alunjones685 Dark humour if ever I've heard it. Respectfully of course.
Clive Thomas was a dreadful ref...made mistakes in the Everton v Liverpool semi in 1977 and Ipswich v West Ham replay in 75 as well as this game!!
Also the World Cup in 78.
Was very happy with them holding the replay at Highbury, it was virtually a home game for Sours I'm surprised it was allowed.Wolves couldn"t of been to happy.
What was it with Clive Thomas and late drama in FA Cup semi-finals? 4 years earlier he disallowed a perfectly good winning goal for Everton v Liverpool again the 90th minute.
and Ipswich in 1975 in the semi-final replay against West Ham, ruled out 2 goals! I thought he was really overrated.
Penalty my arse. Terrible decision.
Clive Thomas .. Worst Referee EVER .. cheat plan as day
The game should have been abandoned .
Clive Thomas did love being in the spotlight.
Wolves were a great cup team, always great to watch thru the '70s.
Was there ever a more corrupt ref? I’m sure he was on someone’s payroll
Clive Thomas a very controversial referee. The only Welshman to referee the cup final and even then made a major mistske.
Clive Thomas hated us almost every time he was ref for our games he gave a penalty against us only time I remember him giving us a pen was v west brom he actually gave us two but that was after he had given west brom one early on even now if a ref gives a decision against us we sing are you Thomas in disguise that was never a penalty hibbit admitted later he had dived for the penalty so glad we stuffed them in the replay

I was there🧡🖤🧡🖤
Who's side is Brian Moore on? And did Clive Thomas Nick the whistle off a copper? 😂😂😂
Brian Moore generally perceived as being anti-Spurs for some reason with derogatory chants about him often coming out from the Shelf in the 70s. His final analysis is a bit ridiculous - 'Let's look at it from the normal angle' - no that's the camera, from behind and high up on a gantry in the stand, angle, Brian. Look at where Clive Thomas is just after the incident, he had a perfect view of that...
Another great upload
Clive thomas really was a berk
