I know not everyone will want to make a shawl, but I have no interest in doing a blanket. There are many RUclipsrs who do CAL on beautiful blankets. Also, the first shawl will have NO pattern, I will not take close-up pictures for people to try and recreate it themselves. It's one of a kind for a charitable cause. Please respect my wishes of keeping it that way. Not everything I make has to be recreated. I can make so many different intricate shawls, they are easy for me to design...Just give me this one shawl to make it special for the person who wins so we can help the rescue... please!!!

You know what I did? I saw one of your shawls, and it was a little more intricate, and I had a hard time following it so I started with a basic beginning portion of a shawl. Then I incorporated interesting stitches that you had in other tutorials, and I made my own unique shawl. You could do something like that where you introduce stitches and then tell us how it could be incorporated into a shawl. That way, we have our own one of a kind. But this one you’ve made is simply GORGEOUS and would be a total stretch for me!!

Crystal, thank you for being so up front, honest, and kind. I am one of those people who tends not to watch long tutorial videos. In my life, I don't have lots of time all together to crochet - it comes in smaller (30 min or fewer) chunks, so long videos tend to be impractical. However, I absolutely love making intricate shawls. I think your idea for an intricate shawl crochet-along is genius. I hope you decide to go ahead with this idea. RUclips has taught me that there a LOT of folks who love crocheting shawls, and I think you would have many people who "never thought they could" - but they come to your CAL and realize, thanks to your teaching, that YES, they can! Here's hoping you'll have enough interest for you to go ahead with the shawl-along!

Intricate shawls and ponchos are my favorite things to make. I try to do several of these each year. They take time, but to me they are enjoyable to create and also a joy to wear or gift. I find interesting or unique yarns and materials and theyjust scream at me to make them into something like a shawl or a poncho, maybe a ruanna or a cape. These items always get positive comments when worn in public and are a source of some pride for me. I'd certainly watch videos spotlighting more intricate designs.
Edited to add something I've done in blocking shawls: I have pinned my shawls (especially lacy ones made with fingering cotton) to a heavy unbleached canvas painter's drop cloth (or any colorfast heavy drape would work) and then stapled that to a 4x4 wooden piece hung from sturdy supports. Then I used a steamer to set the piece, letting it cool and dry pinned in place. There's a lot of ways to adapt this technique to your individual situation and space. I find it easier to have a vertical surface than a horizontal one for such projects. Perhaps others have the same needs and can use this technique to make blocking items a little easier.

It's gorgeous! Wish I could crochet like that, unfortunately due to illness I never will. After twenty years was happy to be able to just crochet again for couple hours a couple times a week while bed ridden. After being hit by semi truck 5 years ago. Just started back last year when my grandson wanted a.character hat took me forever, but he was so happy. It motivated me to make all three grandsons something & my daughter. Things that used to take me half hour now take me few days to a month depending on symptoms & pain. But I'm great full to be able to do some of what I used to love so much.
You're such an inspiration, I love your inspirational videos, they inspire me to try more. Especially when I can't sleep, or get comfortable due to pain, I try to distract myself and just push through the pain and occupy my mind.

Crystal, I am only eight minutes into this video, oh my gosh, I would love a crochet a long for a shawl where every row is a different stitch! How cool would that be! I love CAL’s anyway, but this is so exciting, yes, yes, yes!❤

I would love a shawl CAL! On a side note, your wonderful tutorials are boosting the confidence of so many crocheters, I believe there will be many who will love to challenge themselves, knowing you are there to guide them.

That is a beautiful shawl, Crystal. It truly is a one-of-a-kind design.
A CAL for a shawl with intricate stitches would be really cool. It
would be awesome to see all the color choices.
I would LOVE to participate in a crochet along with you. Once a week
for 6 to 8 weeks would be a reasonable timeline for the project.
Very cool that you will be adding a video to show how to block the
shawl, too. I don't like blocking either but is a great way to open up
    all the lacy stitching.

Yes,,yes, yes!!! Please do a crochet along!! I love this style of shawl. I'll make one for me and one (at least) for the prayer shawl group I belong to! Your shawl is so beautiful I know the next one will be as special. 😍

Were it to be allowed, I should vote yes x 1000! To be clear, I am a 75 year old, male (yes) and have been crocheting since age 11 - so for 64 long years. This shawl-a-long would certainly be a pièce de résistance to be added to my collection. Let us hope you receive enough response to make it happen!

And YES! I would like to do a crochet-a-long!
I would like to be able to use the exact same yarn as you are using, so I hope it would be easily accessible and not from overseas.

That is one stunning shawl Crystal and you should leave it as a one of kind for sure!
I think you have an amazing idea with a CAL shawl. Detailed shawls tend to be long videos Soo breaking it down to one a week is smart. Also gives ppl something to look forward to or to be included in as a community. Great idea Crystal. I’m on board and would love to make an intricate shawl with you by you ❤❤❤😊. Also I had the same issue with Scheepjes whirligig’s and had to order a small one to lol. Marketing at its finest. Lmao.
