What did you think of how IT Chapter Two handled Richie's reveal?
Its gay
Wish it had been built up more throughout, but was handled well and still hit the feels
They should’ve kept the story going I would’ve liked to see more of richies gay storyline so that sucked that they barely showed anything
It made sense exactly how they did it. Thought it was smart to not show “this is our gay character”
Wait...what? He’s not gay in the book
This interviewer seems so chipper and excited to be there and really knows his stuff, give this guy a raise. Half these interviewers I see are annoying and unintelligent.
(SPOILERS)
I think the R + E moment was a wonderful way to show how Richie felt about Eddie. The way I see it is that he was ashamed of who he was and afraid of accepting himself which is why he never finished carving the E but after Eddie faced his fears and died saving him he realized that Eddie did love him too and that he could finally face his fears too and accept who he was which is why he went back to finish carving the E. I don’t know but that’s the way I see it. The movie was great but I did cry a lot during the movie but it was definitely worth the watch.
He didnt finish carving it, it was already carved he just retraced it
young richie finished carving it. in the movie, adult richie retraces it.
readwithrylee/ yeah my bad, I guess all that crying got in the way of me noticing that in the theatre 😅
I’m really glad they took the queer subtext around richie and eddie from the book and made it more explicit in the movie! I’m also glad they didn’t make eddie explicitly gay in the movie like richie is, since eddie having a lot of issues with repressing his sexuality and internalized homophobia is a big part of his book arc and he only really accepts himself when he’s dying and “all of the impurities flow out of him”.
As a big fan of the book, I absolutely loved how the movies portrayed richie and eddie, both as individuals and their relationship
Us too!
I didn’t catch any subtext 😂
R + E
Agree 100%
The Piano Man bc ur dumb
Knowing how much cocaine stephen king was on writing it, I doubt even he remembers the gay subtext he was writing but it is there
"He pinched Eddie's cheek, cute cute cute he exclaimed!"
"That's because you're such a cutie"
I always feel so awkward for Andy bean in these interviews lol
interviewer: how was it working with andrés?
andy bean: yea-
bill hader: *bill hader noises*
When was that?
Richie was implied to be gay in the book too, it just wasn't as direct.
King himself didn't realise the gay subtext til the movie which is extremely funny
@@lex4103 He was also on a heap ton of coke at the time so it doesn’t surprise me lmao
@@becca-de6so yup hahaha
I was so psyched about that reference to The Thing, and OF COURSE it was Bill Hader's idea. He's truly the movie nerd man of my dreams.
Movie: Richie is gay.
Audience: Surprise
Seth Meyers: Am I a joke to you?
LMAOOO TRUE
this made me laugh
What does this mean lol
amelia cool Watch Stefon sketches from SNL :)
@@uns0ciable4ever Bill Hader plays stefon in SNL and Seth Myers is his husband there lol
omg finally somone mentioning richies sexuality :'(
Do they give Oscars for Casting?
Ozbully Morales is they do the caster of this movie should get one
They give awards for ensemble casts
I think Andy's sister did the casting, Barbara Muschietti (Producer)
His relationship with weeeemen lol 3:50
Eva Fickett channeling Pewds
They prefer to be called little people.
@@ozbullymorales1020 underrated comment
LOL Jessica’s looks like daphne from scooby doo!!!
i feel so bad i didn't notice barbara in the movie, but i did notice andy in the pharmacy scene
I need to see Bill do PATRICK SWAZE
Everyone’s talking about the interview and what not and I’m just.. looking at Andy. He’s in the corner just like “lmao I died in the first 18 seconds whoops”
I’ve been watching a few Bill Hader interviews lately and I feel like during the It 2 interviews he was really exhausted. He defiantly seems much happier when with his friends.
Really like that we get to see more members of the production team such as the producer, these are the people that helped create such a brilliant film so it’s interesting to hear their stories and experiences
rollin around in a kiddie pool of blood is a regular thursday night for me
Andy Muschietti: This is actually a deeply philosophical film about humanity and the way we deal with fear and our own personal demons.
IT adult cast: lamoooooo clowns and weird shit.
Guillermo almost had a cameo omg
That would've been so cool, too bad it didn't happen :(
Finally someone spoke about the R+E on the bridge !
Read the book. Spoilers everywhere
T R on God 😂 people complaining about Spoilers may not have read the book
@@veolaperry7165 or watch the miniseries 😆
2:08 #BillHader in his Barry muscles was in a movie previously with James McAvoy & Jessica Chastain, called The Disappearance of Eleanor Rigby.
3:05 Jaden Martel is in the final scene of Barry. :D
"Weemen"
Elrich Gomes i was waiting for someone to reference this so thank you so much lmfao
I didn’t know Benedict Cumberbatch was in this movie
I believe his name is Benefits Lumberjacks.
No, no. I’m almost positive it’s Bundleup Catchyourdeath
It's spelled Benadryl CumberWumber
It's Bentmyneck Cataract
Doctor Strange
i didnt notice barbara in the movie!! which scene was she in??
I saw her!! when ben is walking into derry high school, there is a woman leaning against a tree on the right. I thought I just imagined it, but was actually her, so fun
Wouldn't it have been great if Richie were more handsy or physical with Eddie? As well as teasing him, his overweight wife being a replacement for his overbearing mom, and his boring career, he's basically trashing his childhood crush as flirting. Richie getting in Eddie's head about wanting to get in his bed.
Dammit.
6:02 best part of the ovie
ok i really like this interviewer. asks great questions, takes interest in the answers and isnt FUCKING BORING
Andy muchietti also had a cameo.
finnally an interview where Bill H didn't trash Andy M
U know he's just joking right?
Tossed him shade tho ;b All in good fun I'm sure however I worry. Luckily it's not my place and also there isn't really a conceivable way for me to be around them both when this banter goes down for me to feel weird about.
Jessica Chastain was very good in the movie.
IT Chapter 2 was great
Anyone else notice that their clothes change....??
wait what when was barbara in it
she's the producer
Amber Dawn i fucking know i didnt ask that?
I didn't notice her too! Fuck
I feel bad for not noticing her omg
she was leaning against the tree when ben was walking back into derry high school i believe
Richie isn't gay in the book?! Oh damn!
I thought he was.... like the subtext screamed gay
he is but they don’t like explicitly show it like they do in the movie
Something about Richie's development is confusing, wasnt he like.... checking out Beverly as a kid along with the other losers(the scene right after the pool scene)
not really, it makes sense. richie as a kid was still figuring out his sexuality. gay or not, the existence of a girl will turn any group of pubescent boys‘ head, especially if you dont hang out with girls a lot (in this case the losers, they got bullied and girls their age dont really took interest in them aswell, until bev came along) like stated, richie jokes about women and sex in the first movie was like a defense mechanism for him to sealed off his confusion. richie in the book was also hinted with several bi subtext, though it didnt explored further.
@@trista443 I really dont remember this in the book... Him being gay was liberal bs in this movie
shamrock balls it was definitely implied in the book. Read his interactions with Eddie; they’re extremely close and Richie is completely destroyed by his death. Richie even kisses him on the cheek in the book and flips out, and when Bev asks why he did it, he says I don’t know, but the narration says, “but he knew well enough.” King simply couldn’t write a textual gay storyline at the time because it was the 80s and it wasn’t as accepted back then.
shamrock balls like i said and explained by the others above, it was implied by several subtext in the book.
@@shannonoreilly4695 I cant remember this in the book at all. I never got the impression any of them were gay in the book, especially since they were all ogling Bev, not to mention what they done to her at the end. I know some of them were hesitant to do it, but I put that down to fear and being kids. Are you sure it isnt just about friendship!?? Lol people can see what they want to see.
they make it v clear richies bi in the book lmao fuck sake
Woh ok Richie is gay....
Jack technically actually bi :) eddies gay
@@holllyrhode its hinted at the fact that in the movie Richie is gay. In the book its stated that Richie is Bi.
Jack uhhhh yeah unfortunately
babyhols666 it’s never said anywhere that eddie is gay lmao and in the movie richie is gay
@@kibi2380 its not stated in the book?
Rich being gay and pennywise blackmailing him for that were okay, but Rich fell in love with Eddie was so out of nowhere. I didn't know it until I read about it on internet.
the book has a lot of subtext around richie and eddie’s relationship and during chapter 1 there are some background moments that kinda show how much richie cares for eddie so it was hinted
rich and eddie being bi were always hinted in the book, though it was never explored further. the movie took a leap on exploring it, more so on richie arc. so i wouldnt call it out of nowhere.
TRIS yea but these are movies totally separate from the book - there’s no set up or elusion to it in the first movie
The Piano Man for me richie constant jokes about woman and sex makes it for me. so its not out of nowhere “bam im gay”. like andy (director) said, those jokes by richie in the first chapter was like all talk and his defense mechanism for him to cover up his confusion about his identity. yes it was never stated that he IS gay in the book, but subtle bi subtext were implied several times.
TRIS bisexuals exist..
