He isn't flat out discrediting the use of CGI, he is questioning the way it is often implemented in modern movies, that's why he cited T2 and Jurassic Park as examples of it can be used in a way that enhances the sense of realism.
He said we got used to see the cracks in the VFX and accept it, when in reality we should be put off by it because our suspension of disbelief breaks. He wants people to believe what they are seeing is real, not computer generated, even if it is.
