    Hi mate, so I've just purchased a 180-190 litre aquarium as an upgrade from my previous 100 litre. I'm trying to choose what filter to go for, internal vs canister & what brand. I've previously used Fluval (without any troubles), however I've been pointed in the direction of Eheim as a far superior brand & product. What's your experience & do you have any thoughts on the brands? Would you recommend an internal filter or a canister? To give you an idea of my goal for the aquarium... Leaning towards a planted aquarium, a couple of Opaline Gourami as the biggest, with other smaller ones (guppies, swordtails, cardinal Tetra's). Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

      I would defo consider and external if you have the room and you cant go wrong with the fluval 307 I have found that eheim of late seem to be using poor plastics having said that they are quiet ,,,you could use a hang on back

    Hi, I’m looking to get an internal filter for my two baby turtles in a 30*50 tank with 12 cm water depth. Just wondering how often do you need to clean the filter? Many thanks in advance!

      @AQUAGUYUK  Год назад

      i have turtles and think cleaning on any filter should only be done when the filter flow stutters saying that in the roma 200 ltr tank with adult musk and guppies i used to run a fluval u4 and that required a clean out every 5 weeks

      Agreed i have an aquarium by them they give you a black back grounds but the cabinet is grey

    Does the light-grey top of the lid have to be submerged at all times?

      i have tried to keep it a little out the water but mine suffered from really low flow and think it actually stopped the filter working effectively having said that they are tall so i wouldn't recommend it as the water level lowers overtime it could allow air into the impeller causing damage

    Is it a fan that makes the noise or is it the filter?

      Thanks for your answer.
      Sorry.
      I didn't quite understand what I should do for this Eheim biopower filter.
      Can I use it for baby red cherry?

    • @AQUAGUYUK
      @AQUAGUYUK  5 часов назад +1

      @nicogall.8351 a media bag is a fine mesh and would protect little shrimp and babies being pulled in

      @@AQUAGUYUK Now I understand. Thanks.
      I have viewed the product.
      Should I put the sponge in the bag and then put the sponge in the filter compartment or should I wrap the filter grids from the outside?

      @@AQUAGUYUK Thanks. What's the output flow like? I find many internal filter's output is too strong for the size of thank they're made for, so end up blowing everything across the tank. I see the 240 is made for tanks up to 240 litres. Is the flow not too strong for a 105 litre tank? 🤔

    • @AQUAGUYUK
      @AQUAGUYUK  Год назад +1

      @@MCorrigan Most filters will be strong out the box until they mature and get gunked up with sludge but if flow is the worry maybe the fluval U series may be better as you have multiple options on flow including built in spray and directed nozzle ruclips.net/video/55X1Mtj3VBg/видео.html

      @@AQUAGUYUK I already have a Fluval U3 and it's by far the best filter I've had. Was just wondering if this Eheim was better, but the wattage has put me off. I feel the flow will be too weak, as I've read from some comments. It does look like a decent filter though.

      @@MCorrigan Well media contact is a better point to look at though as i still think for filters having four times water turn over so 100 ltr tank needs minimum 400 lph but remember quoted figures are empty so times it by five for peak performance and times by at least 6 in external maybe look at eheims pick up range
