Evie was the true villain of the film. I notice young men and women (teenagers) like her all the damn time, who come from bad backgrounds and take advantage of an innocent and unknowing friend (and sometimes their families).
My advice to any coming of age teenager who comes across someone like her? Keep your distance, especially if your intuition tells you something that you know is true but you don't want to believe. These friends will take you down with them in a heartbeat.
Peer pressure and the desire to fit in are the ultimate forms of deadly drugs when we are young.

I was thinking of this movie a while ago and it reminded me of myself. Having gone to therapy, I said I'll know something is wrong with somebody but I'll give them a chance anyway. The therapist replied, it is because when I see people I see the best in them. It makes me feel good that when I look at most people and I see the best in them. But realizing after being hurt and getting traumatized, you can still see good in people and empathize what's going on with them but you can't deal with everybody. Some people you need to stay away from. And that's no matter what and especially a young age.

I felt awful seeing Tracy go downhill. In the beginning, not the intro scene, she really looked like a cute pretty girl and the scenery brought me back towards Jr. High school. Like I wanted her to be my girlfriend because of how adorable & attractive she was but wow, these girls got turned out badly.
What could have been a romantic relationship gets traded for temporary late-night frisky & freaky which leads Tracy to arrive at the same place as she was in the beginning of the movie, alone.
During the fight at the end, she said how her mother was a high school dropout. Doesn't anyone see the beginning & the ending of life right then & there.
The mother messed around to the point where she couldn't continue going to high school & dropped out. The same fate & destiny has been passed on towards Tracy herself. Nobody at all is seeing the bigger picture?
We really need to become our own men & women. If it turned out that hanging around screwballs, future deadbeats, and bad people would lead good-nature folks towards the dark path of hedonism, its better off if the good-nature folks would be by themselves.
On one side, there are social misfits, awkward guys with no social skills, & mutes but on the other side there are chatty patties, yik yakkers, & talk for the sake of talking type of guys who are not productive. The latter is the worst.
The life guard who has his own place saw what was taking place when Tracy & Evie came over. He is NOT trying to have a baby with one of them AND have a bad event follow him afterwards. Every now and then, there are some guys in their 20s/30s getting accused of some abuse going on but the teenage victims are reported to NOT have any injuries or signs of being physically assaulted. The "victims" usually do not get in trouble or anything like that.
Anyways, after that scene, things got worse for Tracy & Evie and it did.

@@kimmymarky9538 lol you're good. I wasn't offended. Teenage girls can be a nightmare. It's just boys as well will enable girls like Evie bc they're seen as "easy". I was only 11 when I first watched this. Crazy now we're all parents ourselves and one day our kids will be that age and we'll be the worried parents. It's weird and crazy seeing this with an adult/parent perception now

I know Tracie wasn't innocent but Evie was a snake. I didn't have much sympathy for Evie.
Thankfully Tracie let her mom help her in the end

I could relate to my mom ignoring me. You hit 12-13 and your parents weirdly stop thinking you need any attention.
But other than that…this movie is wack. Not very realistic.
