I am a first time user of the newer better serger machines. I used the JUKI years ago. I took a class on my new machine but I was still left with lots of questions. The explanation of the purpose of the dials the needles and the elastic applicator foot was my AHA! 💡moment. I am 76 and loving it. Looking forward to more of the serger tutorials. Margret has a very special way to explain things regarding the serger.
This was the best tutorial I've ever seen on sergers. I have a serger but have never used it. I will watch this again and go along with the training and try it on my serger. Thank you so much Margaret.
You'll love your serger once you get used to using it. By now, you probably know that. I have made many crib sheets for my grandbabies and others. They make wonderful shower gifts. Also, I have used my serger to completely make baby onesies, then adding snaps. (a onesie has short sleeves, no legs and a snap crotch.) I've noticed that so many people call those one piece PJs with the feet in them ONESIES. Not so. A onesie is like a t-shirt that has a snap crotch. That's my story and I'm sticking to it. :-)
I have had my Ovation for a long time. This is THE best tutorial I have ever watched that explains the stitch width and extra feet usage. Thank you so much. Susan
I have SO MANY Applique Corner embroidery designs, and I love them all. I really enjoyed this video tutorial, and I will be searching for more. Thank you, Ms. Tully for your great help!
Thank you Ms Margaret and Ms Kathy!!! That was a great video and super easy explanation on how to make a crib sheet. I am going to get started right away!!! My 6th grandbaby is coming in Nov. and this will be the first time Ive done sheets, so super excited to use my Ovation for this purpose!!
Best explanation of a BabyLock Serger to date!! Who knew about the "M" letter!!?? Only Mr. Marrow!! Thank you so much Margaret for you very deliberate, slow explanation - I loved it and learned so much - adding this to my Favorites, Watch Later and created my own album!!Make more Serger video tuitorials!!
I was thrilled to see Margaret Tully! I have her dvd, and I agree she can do anything on the serger. I hope you two will do many more tutorials. I am 85 and still crazy about sewing. Got a new baby lock serger!
Just the explanations about the Ovation and the elastic attachment were so helpful. The whole video was great. Thank you! Can't wait to see all the upcoming videos with Margaret 😍!!!!
OMG where has Margaret Tully been all my Ovation Life. 😅. I am so saving this video. I need to surf around for some more of her "well explained, easy to understand" videos. She is a real treasure .......Thank you
Hi Kathy, I just happened upon your video and I have to tell you how excited I was to watch it because I have had a serger for , Lord, decades, and I have not used it because I did not buy mine from a place like JoAnn's so that I would get lessons on it. I bought mine from Walmart's and when I asked the people at JoAnn's if I could come to their classes, I was told no, the classes were only for JoAnn's customers that buy their sergers from them. So, consequently, mine has sat in a case on a sewing table for at least 20 years. I will look forward to further lessons so I can learn how to use it. Thank you Margaret & Kathy!
Margaret YOU are an AMAZING INSTRUCTOR !!!Thanks to you ,my Neice will now receive just now finished :Sergered 4 Bassinette fitted sheets & 1 Large Crib sheet & soft waterproof fabric fitted sheets for her Bassinette & Crib ! My Hack Tip : EASIEST WAY to attach Elastic applicator Foot Attachment is PUT NEEDLES down before you slide the attachment on & then yes slide it in from laft towards needles ! Margaret & Kathy ,am looking forward to more of your Tutorial Videos .Ruffling Foot next ?
This is the best explanation of a serger I have ever seen!!!! Thank you so much for bringing her to your video's, I can't wait to see more. And I will be making a crib sheet soon. :)
Am I silly that I felt a little emotional listening to Margaret explain the serger and the process? Oh, how I wish I had a "Margaret" nearby to teach me! This video has been one of the best I have ever watched! (and I am totally self taught from You Tube videos) Thank you, Ladies!
This has been the most helpful video! I have been looking through videos and for help with making circle table coverings with an elastic foot and make them look clean and professional. Thank you so much for all the useful info!
Fantastic video on Sergers/Overlocker (in England) I have a Janome, not as elaborate as the Babylock, but I love it. This video will enable me to make a fitted sheet for a single (adult) bed too. Thank you so much for sharing.
I agree with the other posters...this is the best video I've seen. I have a Brother serger that I bought from a lady in 2005 or 2006. Haven't used it much because the manual isn't very clear. As one poster asked, though, how do you know what tension to use on the elastic pressure foot? BTW: Thank you sooooooo much for sharing.
very nicely done, how you explained the functions of the machine. I do not have a serger ,because mainly I do not know what they can do that a sewing machine can't do except cut the fabric as you sew. This is one more thing I now know.
I have this serger and love it! A great video - this lady is a wonderful teacher, very detailed and love her comments! My only question would be how tight did they make the stretch??? Halfway???
I very much enjoyed this video. I was searching your channel to find more with Margaret, but there doesn’t seem to be any. Will you be doing more serger videos?
I’m going to save this! Great!! But I’m just a bigginner and this is way over my head, but will be there one day, I also don’t think my machine does that! Lol I don’t know, I have to get to know it better, but mine is way way different!
Thank you so much for this video. Totally took away the fear factor of using the elastic foot. I have so one to make a crib sheet for but totally worth making one to donate just to use the foot and use my beautiful ovation. I have one question though, how do I know how tight to adjust the foot? Did you test it and come up with the stretch factor
Thank you. I do not have a BabyLock serger so I will have to translate the information so that I can serge a crib sheet with the 5 thread serger I do own.
I have watched the video twice, and have an email into my dealer for this foot for one of my sergers! I have one question--I never heard what yardage of the elastic was necessary for the crib sheet??? Does one pre-cut package of the 3/8" Swimwear Cotton Elastic enough for one or more crib sheets? Also--I need to re-do the elastic on a set of my king sheets, so hopefully the same techniques will work. Great Video!
I see that someone asked my question but I don't see an answer. How do I know the correct setting to get the correct stretch? I've been trying to figure this out for weeks! Thanks in advance for any help
Did I miss how long to cut the elastic? Also - how do you know what tension? Is it a trial and error? I have an BL Elighten and my tension screw on the elastic foot is black- not white. Thanks for any additional insight you can provide. MA
Hello my mattress is 53 x 28 with 5 inch depth on the side. Do I add another 1" of fabric on both sides when cutting fabric so it would be 46 x 71 & Is it still the 9 inch drop or do I increase that to 10 " dtop now because my mattress is bigger? I haven't found any cloth fabric that measures 45 or 46 inches. They're all 44 inches in width when you buy cotton Quilting or Calico fabric at the fabric store which means I need to sew more pieces on them to make them longer. Please help
I've tried this method. It looks nice until it's placed on a mattress, the elastic is like "granny panties". For crib sheets to fit correctly, you need about two yards of elastic. How do you adjust the elasticize foot pressure to apply exactly 2 yards f fabric? The answer is, you can't.
I watched this for the tutorial on crib sheets, not how to use the babylock serger, which I do not have. So all of that instruction on the machine was a waste of time for me and anyone who does not have this machine. Maybe you should've made a separate video for that.

The best video on using a Babylock elastic foot. Especially like the demonstration of inserting the elastic. It works!
Just the explanations about the Ovation and the elastic attachment were so helpful. The whole video was great. Thank you! Can't wait to see all the upcoming videos with Margaret 😍!!!!
I’m having a new grandson in 2 Months and can’t wait to make a DOZEN, thanks to the both of you! God Bless

This was absolutely awesome. So plainly explained and shown. Taught me something about my Evolution serger.
Hi Kathy, I just happened upon your video and I have to tell you how excited I was to watch it because I have had a serger for , Lord, decades, and I have not used it because I did not buy mine from a place like JoAnn's so that I would get lessons on it. Thank you so much from one southern lady to another! Can't wait for more serger information.
So glad that you plan to have more serger videos. Also, Margaret is an excellent educator. Great Video! Thanks!
This is the best explanation of a serger I have ever seen!!!! Thank you so much for bringing her to your video's, I can't wait to see more. And I will be making a crib sheet soon. :)
This was a really good serger lesson and quite easy to understand from Margaret. Thank you so much and hope to see more of you gals!
I DID IT!!!! Thank you for this great, thorough tutorial. I learned a lot about my evolution as well!
Am I silly that I felt a little emotional listening to Margaret explain the serger and the process? Oh, how I wish I had a "Margaret" nearby to teach me! This video has been one of the best I have ever watched! (and I am totally self taught from You Tube videos) Thank you, Ladies!
Terri Bradford You are not alone! Why can't Margaret live next to me! We could have serger parties!
Terri Bradford she reminds me of my grandma 😍
I’m agree I live in Tx I buy the machine, but they don’t explain to much how I use
Long time serger user for alterations....loved this video for a fresh look at our serger!!!
Wonderful tutorial! Looking forward to seeing more video tutorials with Margaret Tully. You are both awesome!!!
Thank you, Not only for showing how to make the crib sheet but explaining the dials on the serger.
This has been the most helpful video! I have been looking through videos and for help with making circle table coverings with an elastic foot and make them look clean and professional. Thank you so much for all the useful info!
I have been using my Babylock serger for so long and wish I knew all this long ago. Great video!
Great video, thank you so much for your wonderful knowledge!!❤
Always learn something interesting when Margaret teaches!
This is the best tutorial that I have ever seen for my machine! Thank you!

Great video! I'm looking forward to more tutorials.
Such a simplified, informative video! Thank you.

Thanks a million for this great tutorial! 😎🌸
Thank-you ... just made my first crib sheet and it turned out perfect!!
I love Margaret Tully. I miss seeing her on sewing tv programs.

what a lovely lady I just so enjoyed both of you

What was the adjustment on the elastic foot?
Great video. Thanks

WOW what a video.
Love this!! How many spools are you using? Thank you!

👍👍
Did you use a minky fabric? What type of thread did you use? Was it polyester?

Please help
Can you do it with a 42" wide fabric? The one I found I want to use is only 42" wide.
How do you know how much elastic you use, so you don't come short??
Where do you get your elastic???
Can I use 43" wide fabric
Margaret is hilarious...
Attaching elastic begins at 17:30
My brother serger 1034d will NOT cover my 3/8" elastic. Can you please give me possible tips? Plus I'm only using the left needle only. Thank you!!
How much do you tighten the screw for elasticity?
Could you do a video of how to make a queen size fitted sheet from scratch
Can you show me how to make sheets for playpen or sleep and play need your help
My widest stitch on the Brother 1034 D is not covering the elastic like it is for Mrs. Margaret. Is it still going to work correctly?
I'm having the very same issue! I'm so crushed!
Do you cut off selvages?
My eleastic foot doesnt look anything like that one...at all. You makenit.looks sooooo easy...and i know i wont be able to.donit like this.
Did you wash your fabric before cutting?
Yes, it's best to always wash cotton fabric before using it.
This tutorial was very informative, but it's very disappointing to see that Applique Corner never responds to any of the questions from the viewers.

so, I don't need to have my cutting blades engaged!
+Rita Decook ... I posted before watching further into the video.
I watched this for the tutorial on crib sheets, not how to use the babylock serger, which I do not have. So all of that instruction on the machine was a waste of time for me and anyone who does not have this machine. Maybe you should've made a separate video for that.
They don't answer any questions ! None here that's a bummer wanted to start following them but i will move on to someone that will
Harihariharibol newsubscriber lets c what u got best south africa
