Fellow s5 owner here, great video! The 4.2 FSI is basically bulletproof compared to the older 4.2 40v in the s4. Really the only thing to look out for is the carbon buildup and routine maintenance and its a solid car. I've heard some people have issues with the HPFP's but I haven't had any issues yet. Oh almost forgot, the timing chains in the 4.2 fsi were "fixed" from the 40v, so no need to worry there! (Im sure they will still fail at some point near 140-150k miles but that's way better than the 60-90k that the 40v would fail at)

Super helpful video to find. I went and drove a 2010 S5 6 speed a couple hours ago and have been trying to find more info on cost to own and such. Audizine forums don't have a ton of info for the S5, it's mostly for the RS5 which is a bit different than the S5 with a lot of RS only parts. Definitely gonna be checking out more of your channel and high likelihood I'm gonna toss a sub over to you here in a few since you're putting out relevant content. But I dig the video. 200 on the carbon? That had to be the chemical clean not the Walnut shell. I did the same got it for a bill out in the country in San Antonio but I'ma be honest there's a huge difference. And I feel you on the control arm bushings. That's an absolute must after like 60k atleast, replace the coolant resivour and lord almighty PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE WHEN HANDLING ANY OF THE HOSES OR PLASTIC CONNECTORS ON THE COOLANT SYSTEM....handle with EXTREME CARE .it should be illegal how they designed it to literally fail on you . The connectors absolutely will crumble like petrified paper in your hand like it was the guy that drank from the wrong cup in Indiana Jones..if anyone or you have ever topped off with anything but the exact coolant that it came with factory your fucked it will destroy those parts. But I do suggest flushing that system like every 30k Miles..you will hate your life with cooling issues.
I miss mine so much. I created a monster. Had an 11 and upgraded to the RS front end metal flake black with the silver mirror caps, silver 20s and rs trim up front. 🥵Wish I would have done my JHM lightweight crank pulley first thing but did it last and suggest it to anyone. It goes from having to spin like an 8.5 lb down to spinning a .5lb or 1.5 something that's basically 0 lbs compared to the factory. Man it's like being gifted a new motor. You pedal opens WIDE up. Suet up on KWHAS adjustable springs full carbon GruppeM ram air intake ($1400) and I paid 100 for it from some old lady had it in her garage still in the box🙏🏽. Apt stage 1 tuner, Clinched blended in super high kick spoiler, side skirts, carbon from lower lip fully functional bolted to the frame, the morimoto foglight upgraded is also a must..$120 and better than my headlights. It's a must and they look so dope. BMS pedal tuner every brace, mount, sway, man I literally did everything to that car but the supercharger. And I kept it immaculate. Always proactive and early on preventative maintenance , that was my gift from god..what kid.😏.and then came the 99,995 mile marker..that car never saw 100k.
And I had just dropped close to 17k in upgrades over 1.5 years. I had to replace 2 alternators within 2 months, voltage regulator inside made the battery overcharge and it ended up frying other components and that car is damn near a Tesla with all the electronics. Never could sort it out. 2 new wheel speed sensor s,Replaced a water pump ,thermostat, coolant resivour, flushed the cooling, ac, and had to strip the car down past the radiator bare bones to do all this at once. Just to do the alternator because of it's location they quoted me $2k...and I replaced 2..needless to say I quickly became a mechanic and did it at home but it took 3 weeks cause if bad parts arriving and me winging it . What a mess. Replaced the belt tensioner and motor mounts. That's a must. The motor mounts check em I promise yours are already shot. The design is also designed to fail. Go for the 034 or blackforest solid not bagged one .
I miss that deep V8 sound so bad..I just couldn't afford to be paying Ferrari prices in all these repairs and be driving an audi. literally it was every singke time I got in the car after 99995 something major broke engine or drive train wise. I thought someone was fuxn with me for a sec . Sorry for the rant but man its she was my greatest wing man and could account for atleast giving me 3 baaad bodies all on her own lol..dead ass tho..
    She was a beast ..
but motor mounts and for sure 034 shock mounts. They're $33 and they will be the biggest best thing you did comfort wise on the suspension. Never did it b4 till then and I kicked myself for not knowing this before. I promise it's a must as well like the bushings cause it's rubber and sits on rubber teeth and after 40k miles they look like meth teeth . $33 can't go wrong. These here ..www.fcpeuro.com/products/audi-shock-mount-kit-034motorsport-0346011003tdkt?ads_cmpid=16581601634&ads_adid=135963601393&ads_matchtype=&ads_network=u&ads_creative=587867583518&ads_targetid=pla-1640831826929&ttv=2&gclid=Cj0KCQjw8O-VBhCpARIsACMvVLNe7OU8rWQnXVn21KwsrMohx48eDbxF7SztRthvFcX8hXAIWFpy0ZEaAqYcEALw_wcB.
