It is very risky to overheat the kutting edge and to ruin the hardening. Also if it is an expensive knife you may eat too much of the metal at one sharpening. This may work for a cheap knife or some machete but you still need to be careful and to have some "hand".
Sanding wings disk is the worst to use to sharpen a knife!! Let me tell you the secret... You don't need to sharpen the whole 2 sides, only small bevel with a "hard, smooth" disk. Then the wax and polishing disk for smooth edge. Try to use volt step down module ( if your angle grinder has no speed control button ) to reducce the speed to 4000/5000 rpm ( usually it's 11000/12000 rpm for 5" angle grinders !!) and regularly dip the blade in water to keep it cool and don't burn it ( and lose it's hardness ). If you are patient enough... Wetstone is your best friend.
@@AstrixCloud as someone who makes knifes and swords sharpening a sword or a knife with an angle grinder will destroy it bo matter how skilled you are there are electric sharpening tools that dip oil or water during the sharpening process and keep the blade in good condition considering you know how to hold the sharpening angle a whetstone is the best procedure to sharpen a sword or a knife
wonder what half of that video was filmed first , with the factory edge still on the knife ..... once you see the guard off the grinder you know who ever turns it on is a fool.
I don't recommend this since the knive's steel looses it's hardness when it is getting to hot due to the too fast rotation! Don't do this, you'll destroy your knive's blade forever!
What in the crystal meth is going on. How do you remove 7 sharpenings at once worth or blade stock instructional video, or how to remove fingers the fast way?
Firstly it's extremely dangerous to use that angle grinder disc. Far too fast and one kick-back could be disastrous. Secondly, your knives will not last long taking off so much metal each time.
It can be done with enough practice and a light touch is all it takes, I lay flooring for a living and I use 8 inch scraper blades in my four inch scraper and break them in half because they're a thicker wider blade and I use a paddle wheel on my angle grinder to resharpen them back to and beyond their original sharpness, create a bur with the grinder and take my LANSKI BLADE MEDIC pull through sharpener and pull it through the ceramic a couple times real lightly to take off the bur and BAM,,, better than new and it looks like the factory grind, like I said practice and a light touch, PLUS I reprofile my carpet scissors with the paddle wheel as well, better to use one that is well used so it doesn't take too much off, creating the bur, take my small 3 inch flat diamond stone and lay the back of the blade flat and lightly take off the bur and you're back in business and if you run the bevel side on the stone as well like a knife for a few passes being careful to keep the bevel flat then lightly on the backside again and the edges wily e razor sharp, again,,, practice. I ONLY reprofile with the grinder when the edge is just absolutely gone and the backside of the blade is rounded off, but mostly sharpen with the flat stone to maintain the edges. But carpet is like sandpaper and eventually the backside will round off. I only have to reprofile maybe once or twice a year. Any knife should be treated the same way. Rarely reprofiling unless you get a nick in the blade or something but maintaining after a few uses and it'll last a long long time. I do the angle grinder freehand, locking your wrist and pulling with your elbow, no movement in the arm below the elbow to keep a consistent angle. Even with a light touch the paddle wheel cuts extremely fast so you have to be extremely careful, it's ALWAYS best to use a well used paddle wheel. A couple of light passes on each side then dip it in water to cool it off as not to lose the temper. HAPPY GRINDING LOL. If you're really feeling froggy, after all that then strop it but the polishing wheel will do.
Polishing wax, different colors for different materials and finishes. Usually White wax is for light matt finish, blue wax for shiny finish and brown wax is used for red and yellow metals like copper, bronze and gold
This method can be dangerous for 1st couple times you try it so keep everyone out of the area and once you get it itll shave years off your sharpening time, stones are so slow it can drive you insane, days go by then you realize ...wrong angle again? damit i just dulled it even more
Turn off fairness, a lot of people use Grinders in ways that aren't not necessarily the safest. You could use a drill with attachments and accomplish the same thing but for just 40 bucks you can get a sander from Harbor Freight and if you spend a little more you can get one that has a belt and a sanding disc on the side
Yea there was nothing special or unique about this sharpening method especially since you can buy a real knife sharpen stone or tool cheaper than that cost it takes more knowledge of knives and sharpening to do that than using a regular sharpener
I can see a lot of unskilled bpeople destroying a good knife with that disc
Bee cous its knot a first time to sharp a knife he know the angle and every thing I say he is got a skill
I sharp the knife 🔪 like that and polishing and everything you can Sharp the knife 🔪 on the stone 🪨 frome the river
I know i destroyed a bicicle the first time i used one because they are so much harsher than I thought
Not at all. U don't know wat ur talking about
So don't do it
clamping a grinder into a vice like this is an unmistakable trademark of an expert.

Very dangerous way of overheating your knife and destroying the blade.
Mucho desgaste innecesario
The sharpness will long-lasting only if the knife material is very hard otherwise every week we have to sharp it.
You completely destroyed the bevel.....😢
Whay is this wax applied to the grinder?

How to destroy your bevel faster than a stone!
As a pipefitter. I’ve seen those tiger paw discs blow up. Wouldn’t want a knife in my hands. Be careful
Are we gonna act like the blade still isnt dull. And at first he was cutting with the knife pointing away from the apple
You catch that blade in that disc in any way, chances are you are a goner.

No… this is not how you sharpen any blade…. Just stop.
Well… maybe a lawnmower blade, but not a knife blade.
Knife abusing
Just use diamond stones. Nobody needs to have the blade catch and fly into their gut.
Single most dangerous thing I’ve seen all week.
Used cubitron flap disc works best (must be a used one)
Wow! That's quick. Nice!
There’s 3 different knife shapes in this video…🤔

Stroop with valve grinding compound, then stroop with jeweler's rouge. Will dry shave the hair off of your arm.

The sparks weren't flying using that filing disc!

Great, the heat from the fast disc burns the metalat the edge, so now itˋs soft and will hold no edge. Yoùre welcome…
With a grinder? Uhhhhh….. yikes
