My first visit to BC was Xmas, 1968. My sister's father-in-law was an electrician on the Mica Dam build. We enjoyed Xmas in Revelstoke, and Xmas morning I saw mountains for the first time ever. The impact still resonates with me today. All my problems became so minimal after I realized what a miniscule entity I was on this beautiful planet. I'm living on V.I. now with more mountains and delicious eye candy, 74 years young, and still appreciating that early lesson when I was just 18 years old.
Really enjoyed this one. The logging roads up there past Downey are absolutely wild. Never saw so much bear scat on a road before and when you get 5 kms back on any of those roads it's REMOTE.
You know Kenny is so envious of you right now, dont you??? Its so Beautiful, your so lucky to have stumbled into that place! Keep up the great work! Love your videos!
This was a great one Kevin. It made my day to see how excited you were driving up and seeing some of those views. And listening to you be so thankful you quit your job. Happy for you Kevin!
Your too funny but love this video, I like how you interact with us the viewers, I’m 68 mature woman and really like where you go in Canada as I’m ready to travel too, so checking out your videos for this reason👍🇨🇦❤️
The reason the train stopped was so the train crew could change. Unfortunately since the length of trains have increased over the decades, they now block the crossing when it is an eastbound train.
Kevin, I really loved this video because it seems the more videos you do you keep getting better and better. Safe travels my friend. LOVE FROM IOWA! 😊❤❤❤
I live in Revelstoke and my job takes me to Mica often. The whole village is exclusive to BC Hydro only so there isn't anything public up there. Also Revelstoke dam has tours but Mica no longer has any tours anymore due to security reasons. The highway is in good shape due to it's the only access to the dam outside of a helicopter but it is a 150 km dead end so if you go all the way up there you have to come all the way back and there isn't any stores or gas stations anywhere on the highway up there so make sure you bring everything you may need before leaving Revelstoke.
Really enjoyed this! Would love to see footage from the paddle board, I live in the desert in the States and miss my trips to Canada from when I was younger. Great music too!!
I love movies so, Star link would be the deal and stream movies. If I read or listened to a book I would sleep my life away. Unless it is a RV magazine, fishing or a how to book. It is ZZZ’s for me. Great video!
Congrats on 7k! 🎉 I'm almost there as well lol Im originally from the Okanagan and I love your reaction of driving through there with the lake! There's so many beautiful spots there. 😊
Carnes Creek is great after the September Long Weekend. Free too. Great paddle under the bridge up the creek. Nice boon docking sites at pullouts from old highway. Camping tonight at Boya Lake, south of Watson Lake. On our way to Dawson City. Beautiful up her right now. Fall colours on the Spatzizi Plateau.
The Canadian Rockies are so beautiful. 43:25 the mortal enemy of Starlink is mountains and trees. Might have to get a pole mount on your ladder or something if you do get one to get it up higher. I have one I use on occasion and it's great as long as there isn't too many obstructions in the sky.
They called the road from Revelstoke the Big Bend Highway. Yes it was gravel , long and dusty. Not a lot of fun to drive. In the Summer there was always construction so it took longer to drive.
Hi Kevin, first I want to say I enjoy your videos and look forward to each new video. I have question for you: if you were to buy a replacement truck, would you prefer vinyl or cloth seats in your replacement truck?
Dang Kevin, awesome views spot there. You appear to be are having an awesome adventure. What’s the longest time you stay at places like these? And other than upgrading to the new camper, do you ever take the camper off the truck to drive around without it?
I have come close to dropping it at a campsite but where I’d like to is in the back country but I’m honestly nervous about leaving it in a free spot and worry about someone breaking in
@@KevinWaldsAdventures I've been up to Revelstoke Dam but not up to Mica Dan, the history you were mentioning is very cool, I had no idea myself, we have wanted to explore up there do you recommend taking the time to venture up there ?
Watching further into your video where you were mentioning Blue River... I camped out there and checked out the place. I fell in love with that area! it's hard to believe hardly anyone lives there year round. even in winter there's plenty to do if you like the woods
@@KevinWaldsAdventures yeah, I don’t know what happened there…🤣 still, that’s way too much. Equates to about $6.60 US a gallon. I currently pay about $3.65 US gal so about $1.31 CN a litre/liter… tomato tomato🤣
@@noneya61 yaaa was a huge consideration for me when I started this trip to just go to the US as everything is basically cheaper. I miss when I complained about $1.20 a litre lol
Thank you for this excellent video! And you're right.. I've driven through Revelstoke for decades and never stopped at the museum. Not to mention I've pretty much had it with the Trans Canada!😅 Keep on truckin' kindred spirit. 👍😎🇨🇦
Thank you for taking me to a Railroad Museum. I was obsessed with trains when I was a little kid (kinda still am) but have never been to a Train Museum. Great filming!! I'd love the opportunity to take a vacation on the Rocky Mountaineer. 🚂🏔 (I typed this before you saw the Rocky Mountaineer while pumping gas)

I'm a big fan of Canadian Maple syrup! The sap runs deep in the great white north!
Really enjoy your videos Kevin. I’m getting on in years so this is my way of travelling around our beautiful country. Thanks for sharing. Cheers
Funny seeing this video. I worked at that Dam and stayed in the housing. Was beautiful up there… watching the bears, eagles etc.
Absolutely Stunning Views
Wow 😲 And Water the Color is out of this World Dang Great video Camera Work Editing & the Music 🎵🎶 Spot On😊🙏
First views I’ve had of Revelstoke area, gorgeous! Thanks for taking us along on your adventures into most beautiful natural places!

Oh wow, that's the Columbia River, that runs down here between Washington and Oregon. Epic spot by that trashed ferry.
I burst out laughing with your joke about the dam good on you!
Another banger Kevin! Keep em coming buddy!

always an interesting topic with commenters on the Revy rail cam.😂 especially when some one impatient does the illegal car hopping.

Yellowjacket campground lived up to its name then ! That's were all your hornets were.
Woohoo! Sucks the original spot was occupied but i'm glad you found another one not too far away!
I camped at Martha Creek provincial campground this past in August, it was amazing!
Thanks for sharing 🎉🎉
Some seriously unreal views in this vid! thanks for the great video :)
I got a 2001 dodge 2500 cummings diesel and a camper. I'm in love with that rig.

What did the fish say when he ran into a cement wall?
Damn…

You out did yourself on the camping spot. I would not move until after the long weekend.
My home city ! Revelstoke was incorporated as a city in 1899, so over 120 years ago....
Really that’s crazy! I guess it makes sense with the history

Seeing old maps of it it looked like quite a journey lol
Starlink saves me. Let’s the family know where the old folks are camping. Way up here in the Yukon. 50% plus have Starlink. Modern camping!,,
Hey Kevin great video. Looking forward to getting out west and doing the same.
You need a dog Kev, some good company.

Did you know these YT guys only let me give 1 thumb-sup? That was a 2 thumbs-up vid and the old ferry campground was a total high-fiver.
Thank you!!!😊
If only they had a damn tour of the damn dam.
Hi Kevin, first I want to say I enjoy your videos and look forward to each new video. I have question for you: if you were to buy a replacement truck, would you prefer vinyl or cloth seats in your replacement truck?

Kevin what else do you yu you're amazing what you do
I'm looking forward to stopping in Revelstoke this winter to do some skiing it may be my longest stop along my ski venture in the west
It’s prob one of my favorite mountains 🏔️
Actually, that's the ferry it'self. It was dragged up to the beach and dry docked.

I would be camping/living at the old ferry spot until someone come to run me off!
Did you come up from Nakusp into Revelstoke? We are heading that way ourselves tomorrow. To bad the damn was closed, have you been there before??

So presuming that fuel was in CN $ and liters looks like around $7.20/liter?
$1.75 per litre, $7.20 a litre and I’m trading the truck for a horse chuck wagon 😂

What’s your L/100km?
Around 17L/100km or 12-14 mpg
