that is the dumbest thing I ever heard yet. If you read Act 18 you will find out who these folk were that were not baptized in Jesus name. They were taught by Apollos. Talk about ignorant. Apollos has just been in Ephesus and now Paul finds these folks in Ephesus and he teaches them the truth. He was going to give them spiritual gifts of the Holy Ghost and that is why he ask about the HG. When he found out they knew nothing of the HG he knew they were not baptized properly kinda like Baptist.

JESUS SAVES, and anyone else who would like to respond, if water is not essential for salvation then explain 1 Peter 3:20-21? Or Acts 2:38? Or John 3:5? Or why Paul wasn't told by Ananias to continue praying for salvation in Act 9? Ananias found him praying (Acts 9:11), which would have been the perfect time to make the sinner's prayer scriptural. The sinner's prayer wasn't mentioned but baptism was in Acts 9:18. Water baptism is essential for salvation (Acts 2:38, John 3:5, Matthew 28:18-19) just like believing (John 3:16) Repenting (Acts 2:38) confessing (Matthew 10:32-33) and baptism. Thank you for your comments I hope to hear from you soon.

Baptist Doctrine on Salvation is Unknown to God’s Word
Many Baptists say we are saved by praying to Jesus as our Lord and personal Savior - and that is all. But, in the same breath, they will deny that we’re saved through any act of obedience of our own. It’s quite a puzzling doctrine, because: (1) Why would they think that their faith was not an act of obedience? Faith is a work of obedience to God (Jn.6:29; 1Thess.1:3; 2Thess.1:11). (2) Why would they think that acts of obedience to Jesus are not necessary for salvation? It sounds like rebellious talk to me. Heb.5:8-9 says that Jesus “became the author of eternal salvation to all who obey Him.” (See also 2Thess.1:7-9.) Clearly, the Baptist position on salvation is not in harmony with plain Scripture.

Baptist cant even read Mk 16:16 without messing it up. THEY READ HE THAT BELIEVETH AND IS SAVED THEN IS BAPTIZED, WHEN IT SAYS HE THAT BELIEVETH AND IS BAPTIZED SHALL BE SAVED, kinda like they cant read act 2:38 repent and be baptized everyone of you in the name of Jesus for the remission of your sins and you shall receive the gift of HS. Hard to mess that up.unless u believe in faith only which is found once in Luther's german bible only.

26 And whosoever liveth and believeth in me shall never die. Believest thou this?"
The only thing that atones for sin is blood. Baptism is a symbol of your faith in that blood. Our resurrected high priest presents his atoning blood to his father on our behalf when we believe in him. Our robes are washed clean in the blood of the lamb of God not by water. • @curtis-thebicentennialist1776
    @curtis-thebicentennialist1776 6 лет назад +2

The word "baptize" has dual meaning. It can be used to describe one being submerged in water and it can be used (majority of time) to be immersed in the belief or knowledge of something. COC goes to extreme measures to say that it's not a denomination while simultaneously declaring that it's a specific group aka denomination.

    • @danny3656
      @danny3656 6 лет назад +1

      Gday Curtis,
In the Greek, there is no dual meaning.
Baptism literally translates to being immersed, submerged. It is not a religious word as most believe. To the people hearing Acts 2:38, they knew it was to be immersed under water. John 3:5; 1 peter 3:21; Romans 6:4
As your position would predicate, you are submerged in Christ, then what are you risen to? Out of christ?
The bible is very clear we are submerged in water.
“See, here is water! What prevents me from being baptized?” ACTS 8:36-39
Also, denomination is generally defined as a recognised branch of the "Christian church".
COC, ICOC claim there should be no "branches", the bible has one intended meaning (how else could it make sense). Thus, there can only be one true church, which has the correct life and doctrine (1 Tim 4:16 - which espouses there is no salvation outside or true doctrine, you could also use the branches of the trees analogy Jesus uses). Therefore, his claim is that the churches beliefs align with the bible and therefore are no part of a branch of group. Otherwise, we are just arguing semantics.
Hope this helps Curtis, have a good one.

@@danny3656 You are wrong. There is no proof that the people in Acts 2:38 knew that baptism was a reference to water. In fact, the only reference to water baptism in the NT is when the eunic asked to be baptised in water in order to celebrate his conversion into Christianity. When John the Baptist, said that The One coming after him would ' baptise with fire and with the Holy ghost', do you think he was going to dunk people in a fire pit or in a pit of holy ghosts?
When a denomination, cult, group or whatever you want to call it, stops preaching that it's followers are the only ones who are going to heaven, then they may be respected. Until then, I'll take Jesus at His word..."Noone comes to the Father except through me". He did not say..."Noone comes to the Father unless you attend the CoChrist". Hope this helps.

      God's Plan of Salvation
      GOD'S PART
      1. The great love of God for man (John 3:16)
      2. He gave His Son, Jesus Christ, as the Saviour (Luke 19:10)
      3. Sent the Holy Spirit as a guide (John 16:13)
      4. Gave the Gospel as "the power" unto salvation (Romans 1:16)
      5. Provided atonement by the blood of Christ (Romans 5:9)
      MAN'S PART
      1. Hear the Gospel. (Romans 10:17, John 8:32)
      2. Believe the Gospel (Hebrews 11:6, John 20:31)
      3. Repent of past sins (Luke 13:3, Acts 17:30)
      4. Confess faith in Jesus Christ (Romans 10:10, Matthew 10:32)
      5. Be Baptized (Galatians 3:27, Mark 16:16, Acts 2:38)
      6. Be faithful unto death (Revelation 2:10)
God has done His part; will you do yours?

The phrase, “shall be saved,” connects the blood of Christ and baptism. In Romans 5:8-9, the apostle Paul said, “But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us. Much more then, having now been justified by His blood, we shall be saved from wrath through Him.” But when Jesus gave the “Great Commission,” He said these words: “Go into all the world and preach the gospel to every creature. He who believes and is baptized shall be saved; but he who does not believe will be condemned” (Mk.16:15-16). So, while there is no doubt that Jesus saves us by His blood, He only does so when we are baptized. This connects the blood of Christ to baptism!

Peter preached the baptism of the Spirit through faith in the gospel not water baptism.. He had already preached to gentiles in Acts 10:47-48 who had already received the Spirit through faith in the gospel.. Peter then asked "who can forbid these water baptism seen as they have already received the Spirit.. Philip a Jew preached the gospel to the gentile eunuch and he was told he had to believe on Christ first before he could receive water baptism. Paul rebuked those who were exalting water baptism above the gospel in 1 Cor 1:17-19 as he clearly separated the gospel from water baptism as did Peter and Philip.. There was NO command to hear, repent, or confess, so again how did they know to do this when they were not explicitly told? Or did they have to wait till they received the epistle to the Romans to figure that one out. Maybe they had to do all of it again since according to your logic they weren't saved.

Deal with the verse i gave you before asking me to deal with another of yours. You guys always answer with another question. Paul said Christ did NOT send him to baptise... but to preach the gospel. Therefore water baptism isnt part of the gospel (read the verse a few times). The gospel is the power of God unto salvation to them that believe. Period.
The book of Acts is a dangerous place for those who are unlearned.
For example... Cornelius recieved the gift of Holy Ghost BEFORE getting baptized (Acts 10:43-45). Funny how you dont wanna mention those kinds of examples since they go against what Peter said in Acts 2:38... he said you must be baptized before recieving the gift of the Holy Ghost.
Now, deal with those verses. Put down the phone/tablet/computer or whatever it is your using, open your kjv bible, pray and ask God for wisdom, and deal with those verses.

Also, in regards to Acts 2, Peter preached the gospel which is the death, burial and resurrection of Christ to these Jews who did reject Christ beforehand.. Peter didn't tell them to receive water baptism for remission of sins, it was the baptism of the Spirit through faith in the gospel which is faith in Jesus Christ for remission of sins give all the prophets witness. Acts 10:43 KJV
    j
Acts 2:41 says they received the word which was the gospel preached by Peter and then they were baptised by the Spirit of God. Acts 8:36-38 shows us Philip explaining to the eunuch a gentile before he received water baptism he had to receive Jesus first and he had already preached the gospel to the eunuch from the old testament.
Peter also again confirms that there were gentile believers who had already received the Spirit through faith in the gospel as he said to the Jews, "who can forbid them water baptism seen as they had already received the Spirit.." You see, if one doesn't compare scripture with scripture then one is going to end up twisting the scriptures like this man on the t.v..
Paul clearly separates the gospel from water baptism as there were Christians who were exalting both the baptizer and water baptism above the gospel so he put them all straight on the matter. Furthermore, the thief on the cross wasn't baptised and God is not a respecter of persons meaning that every man can be saved only one way which is by faith in Christ for remission of sins. Acts 10:43, Acts 26:18, Rom 3:25-26 KJV
Water baptism is not once mentioned in the gospel and Peter, Philip and Paul all preached the gospel to both Jew and gentile alike.. Eph 1:13 clearly speaks that after ye heard the word of truth the gospel of your salvation after ye believed ye were sealed by the Spirit and that applied to those Jews and gentiles in Acts 2:38-41, Acts 8:36-38, Acts 10:47-48 KJV God is not the author of confusion but man is..

It is a matter sematic. There is the church of believers and there is the local congregation of believers. No matter what you call yourself or call your beliefs, Church of God or Church of Christ or First Baptist of so & so, you are still a denomination, ie; a group of believers in Christ Jesus. As I recall there was the Church of Antioch so named after the city of Antioch, not to mention the seven Churches of Revelations. So, lets get real people - there is no such thing as a non-denominational church. No matter what town or city you may travel to you will always find a Church of Christ near by. An by the by, Christianity itself is a religion. To worship Jesus Christ is a religion. Religion, look it up... denomination, look it up.

There was also outside influences that tried to corrupt the gospels when Christianity was young. Hence, the Epistles of the Apostles. Is it any different today? If you plant an apple seed, and apple tree will come up, if you plant a peach seed, a peach tree will come up, if you plant the seed of the Word of God as found in the New Testament, a New Testament Church will come up. That's why we don't add to God's Word or take away from God's Word. No where in the New Testament does it tell them to sing praises to God with an instrument of music like a piano or organ. That's adding to God's Word. The only instrument of music we have scriptural authority for is our vocal cords. (Eph. 5:19, Col 3:16) How can a man sing with the Spirit and understanding if he or she is busy worrying about what chord or key to play the instrument in? God wants all your heart not part of it when you worship. Jesus said in John 3 that those who worship Him must worship Him in Spirit and in truth so its necessary that we not go beyond what is written in God's Word because to add to God's Word is adding our human opinions to God's Word.

I disagree that COC isn't a denomination. It is the Cambellite Church. Alaxander Cambell claimed to have restored the church. Who made AC a apostle?? Such things as forbidding musical instruments is not scriptural and man made doctrine of the Cambellite church. Musical instruments are not authorized. Well who authorized the use of electricity to assist in worship?? I agree singing is from the heart and mind but using a piano in the background doesn't stop anyone from singing from the heart. This is denominational doctrine of the COC. Scripture does not forbid musical instruments in worship.
You say the Baptist just decided to do their own thing. Well what enzactly the the cambellites do?? They came up with their doctrine and put church of Christ on the door to claim theirs is only true church. Baptist only represents the people and their specific beliefs to clarify them against other groups. I think it is dishonest for church of Christ to not be honest about what they are....the cambellite church. If baptist take the sign down and replace it with a COC sign nothing changes. Baptist are Christians that belong to the body if Christ but need a specific name to differentiat themselves from other groups who they disagree. I also believe COC are Christians and in the body of Christ. I believe the followers of Jesus Christ are his CHURH. You make it as if Baptist started own religion and worshiped John. Baptist worship Jesus Christ!
Here's on for you.....when the disciples complained of others healing and casting Demond's in Christs name he told them to leave them alone. Those who aren't against me are with me. Are Baptist against Jesus Christ?
The founder of the COC, Alexander Cambell was also Baptised by a baptist preacher. The guy didn't even practice what he preached. That makes his following based on a lie

    • @Concatenate
      @Concatenate 10 лет назад +1

"Well who authorized the use of electricity to assist in worship?" So, is your argument that instruments "assist" you in worship? And how is electricity being offered by us to God? I don't understand this line of thinking at all. You act like the Campbells rose up one day and stopped all instruments and created their own church. That is not what happened. Instruments were ADDED hundreds of years after the church was established by Jesus. That is a fact. If the Campbells simply recognized that fact, why criticize them for it?
And another person who complains about the words "church of Christ." We don't use "church of Christ" the same way you do. There is only ONE church that Jesus built. It's His church, and we are the ones who are called out (Greek is ekklesia, the called out, English is church). The called out ones of Christ is what we are. If a Baptist can be a Christian, then why keep associating themselves with the word "Baptist" and not with Christ?? It's His church! There is no Baptist church in the Bible. And generally, what Baptists preach isn't found in the Bible either, so how can they be Christians when they teach something contrary to God's Word?
I've never read one word from what the Campbells wrote. Don't need to either, they didn't start or build a church, Jesus already did that 2000 years ago. If you want to be a member of HIS church, the scriptures tell us how to do so.

@6153calme What an interesting non-response to my question. By the way your biblical knowledge is sorely lacking. The gospel was preached both in John the Baptist's ministry and during Jesus' ministry. After all didn't Jesus go about proclaiming the gospel of the kingdom of God? Did he not command all the Jews that they must repent and believe the Gospel? They weren't given the option I following the law or the gospel. You seriously need to read your Bible and not your CoC Sunday School charts.

Furthermore, your comment on Johns disciples in Ephesus shows your ignorance of the whole story found there and subsequent Church History. There were a contengent of John's disciples who never joined Jesus. After John's death the remaining followers dispersed and became heretical as Acts 19 indicates. By this time, a particular group claiming allegiance to John was there. Notice too they knew NOTHING of the Holy Spirit. Also the apostles only received John's Baptism. Were they lost?

Baptism literally translates to being immersed or submerged.

The bible is very clear we are submerged in water.

Jesus says "He that believes AND is baptized shall be saved (Mark 16:16) NOT "He that believes is saved and is baptized." Also I Peter 3:21 says that baptism doth also now save us. We (coC) are not trusting in the water but trusting what God said happens in baptism ; Colossians 2:12 buried with Him in baptism (it is immersion in water since it is a burial) in which you also were raised with Him through faith in THE WORKING OF GOD, who raised Him from the dead. Once again God does the work in baptism we only obey Him in submitting to baptism; we are not trusting in ourselves by doing what He says. How can my obedience end up trusting in myself when God says to do it? I am counting on the operation of God to save me in baptism not there is power in water. It is God's power that saves when we do as He says and and are baptized INTO CHRIST and have PUT ON CHRIST in baptism; Galations 3:27. Can one be saved without being baptized into Christ? Baptism by itself does not save must also hear the word, believe; for faith to provide salvation, it must exceed mental acceptance: John 12:42-43; James 2:17-26. We believe that Jesus died, was buried and resurrected for our sins. Our trust in Jesus as "Lord" motivates obedience to His commands Acts 2:36-38, Hebrews 5:9 as well as many others listed above and the following: we must also confess that Jesus is the Son of God; (Read Acts 8:35-39 and see what needs to be done when Jesus is preached and especially note verse 37 to see the confession that needs to be said). Next one needs to repent (Acts 17:30-31). Repentance exceeds feelings of remorse and reveals itself in actions (Matthew 3:7-8). When the mind (example "heart") changes about sin, the penitent soul begins to "put off" the old actions of wickedness ((Colossians 3:5-10) and to "put on" the new behavious of a child of God (Colossians 3:12-14). When Jesus died on the cross He offered His blood for the sins of the world (John 19:34; I Peter 1:18-20, 2:21-25). For God to provide salvation, therefore, sinners must receive the blood of Jesus. Essentially, salvation requires a way that takes the sinner to the death of Jesus. The New Testament identifies this as baptism (Romans 6:3-6). The Christian faith for today only authorizes one baptism (Ephesians 4:5). This baptism requires water and involves immersion (Acts 8:36-38; Romans 6"4; Colossians 2:12, I Peter 3:20-21). New Testament baptism results in salvation (Mark 16:15-16; Acts 2:38, 22:16; I Peter 3:21). God has confined all spiritual blessings "in Christ" (Ephesians 1:3). According to the word of God, in addition to providing access to the death of Christ (example blood) of Jesus, baptism transports the obedient soul "INTO CHRIST" (Romans 6:3, Galations 3:26-27) where every spiritual blessing dwells. According to the Lord no disciple enters a relationship with the Godhead without being baptized (Matthew 28:18-20; cf. Mark 16:15-16; Acts 2:38. Let's end by saying that baptism is how we put on Christ (Galations 3:27), baptism is the way into Christ; Romans 6:3 and Galations 3:27 and baptism if for remission of sins; Acts 2:38 and Acts 22:16. Remember that today is the day of salvation.

First you must believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God, then you call on Jesus to save you.. Baptism doesn't save you.. believing the Son of God, it's Grace and Mercy that saves us.. Baptism is a symbolic of your Faith.. John 3:16
      1 John 5:13
      Ephesians 2:8-9
      Romans 10:13

Note that baptism comes after salvation; not before as you mentioned....Jesus, himself, said "He that believes AND is baptized shall be saved and he who does not believe shall be condemned; Mark 16:16. If one thinks they are saved before being baptized they are still in their sins and must be baptized for remission of sins; Acts 2:38. In baptism one contacts the death of Christ where the blood was shed; Romans 6:3 and note it is a burial Romans 6:4. Also read Colossians 2:12 and note who does the work in baptism (faith in the working of God). Also read Galations 3:26-27.

The Lutheran Bishops quoted Romans 13 to support Hitler and again the same to the communists. There are 7,957 verses all can be used to justify not loving God and your neighbor.
