      You say that Canada was the gold standard for harmonious and successful immigration. Then you document how first generation immigrants are corrupt as heck and profiting off of fraudulent immigration, fraudulent education, fraudulent home building and fraudulent home renting. You also document the violence and crime and unrest that these same first generation immigrants have generated via their greedy drive to profit off of subsequent immigrant waves. Sounds to me like Canada was never a gold standard and if it was, it was perhaps 30-40 years ago when every single immigrant wanted to shed their third world way of life and adopt Canadian culture. But that hasn't been happening for 20+ years now and the fruits of our immigration system have been disastrous BY DESIGN, not disastrous by happenstance.

      It was not accidental. Read book Cold Terror: How Canada Nurtures and Exports Terrorism Around the World & 2 while most people in Punjab don't support Khalistan but there is still a sizable population of people who are whipping up sentiments in the Punjab for Khalistani cause and are using international links for doing so while Indian govt. has been handing international govt.'s dossiers for years for extradition / cooperation. I understand your desire to see this from national politics perspective but not providing correct info. will not help anyone.

      Good report. Thank you for showing the truth. I do disagree with one portion @21:26, because I believe this was done intentionally. Allow me to explain why.
      Most of the ethno-religious trouble you see that stem from some Sikhs who sympathize with the Khalistan movement. Sikhs in India live mainly in Punjab. Punjab is like the bread-basket of India. Punjabis are very hard working. The Green Revolution that turned India from a grain importing country into a grain exporting country began in Punjab. The Canadian government has a lot of land, and it was the policy of the Canadian government to grant easy visas to people predominantly from Punjab.
      There is also an angle where Canada might have sought to favour importing those from India who harbour anti-India sentiments and have propensity for violence. This is done to allow Canada to have leverage over India. What happened accidentally is that the serpents Canada reared in its own backyard in the hope they will bite the neighbour is causing havoc in its own backyard. There is a joke in India that it is easier for an extremist to immigrate to Canada than a doctor or an engineer.
      This is only the only case. Canada has, along with a Khalistan problem, a Banderastan problem. Banderastan is roughly Lvovskaya Oblast in Western Ukraine that was formerly part of the Hapsburg Monarchy and the Austria-Hungarian Empire. These people are the strongest supporters of the war against Russia which began in 2014 with the Ukrainian president Viktor Yanukovich being violently removed and replaced by a western puppet called Petro Poroshenko, who then invaded the Russian speaking Donetsk and Lugansk. Canada, specifically Alberta, is home to this demographic.
      I am waiting to see when the *Khalistan* problem is paired by a *Banderastan* problem. Good luck Canada.

But I go in there last week and there's an Indian man with an accent thicker than oatmeal, who doesn't know what theyre doing working as manager... I'm sure he only wanted minimum wage so he could remain in the country. That's a 12$ an hour pay cut. The reason they do that is cause they are so used to pay low wages cause of all the immigrants that work there. So frustrating. Mass Immigration is an explicitly bad thing, in this context and most others, calling it "too much of a good thing" just shows the wrong frame of mind in dealing with this issue. Being OK with outside groups, even of your own race or culture, coming in to compete with your native population is incredibly unwise, and shows a divorce from very real biological, cultural, and historical bonds. But the simplest way to understand it, is that every single other political concern is meaningless if you are being displaced or replaced in your polity, electorate, province, etc. Which is exactly what's going on in Canada to actual Canadians through mass immigration.
      There's exceptions to the rule, small amounts of immigration from your "family peoples" is one thing, particularly to get "the best", but the exceptions prove the rule and beyond that, you're playing with fire.

    I'm from Brazil and our country did something VERY similar a century ago: After slavery was abolished, the Brazilian government started looking for a cheap labour force from other countries. So we basically started a propaganda campaign targeted at southern Europeans and at the Japanese people, saying all of those "great" things our country had and how much opportunities we had. However, when those immigrants finally arrived, they realized that none of those opportunities were true and that they were actually being used as cheap manual labour. The worst part is that they were in so much debt that most of them couldn't go back home so they got stuck here working at low paying jobs in terrible conditions.

    Yes it is STILL the students' fault that they were bamboozled. It doesn't matter what they were told- they have the internet in India, they should have enough agency to research this topic before essentially bankrupting their family to move to an entirely different continent.
    The English requirement in particular exemplifies this. People know if they don't speak a language- those students came to Canada knowing perfectly well that they would not be able to function adequately here and their contributions would be limited, and they came anyways. This alone should disqualify those particular students from sympathy due to arriving here in bad faith.
    All of the students that should not be here due to be unqualified, or by getting in through illegal means should be deported- however the Gov't should seize the assets of the colleges that have participated in the dipoloma mill scams and have gotten filty rich on the tuition fees. Those fees should mostly be returned to the students when they are sent home.
    Administration that knowingly participated in the scheme should be prosecuted.

      We need more Indo-Canadians warning these people about the cost of living in Canada, and how it is not quite as advertised. I think the first thing I would tell them is that they need to have a good paying job lined up, BEFORE even thinking of immigrating ($100K/yr is middle class in Canada). These immigration consultants work at arms length of the oligarch corporations that want low-wage labor for their factories. They promise a great lifestyle, but in truth, are given salaries so low, that things would in fact be worse for immigrant after relocating. This whole program is a lie, to strand immigrants once they are bankrupt, into having to work for one of the Canadian oligarch corporations.

    I think the thing that's misrepresented here is the housing crisis. I'm not denying that immigration can cause increased house/rent prices, but the reality is that plenty of places like Saskatoon, Moncton, Red Deer and Quebec city have 1-5% population increases from immigration with 20-30% increases in rents in the last year alone. Combine interest rate hikes, construction backlogs from the pandemic, and increased corporate buyers like REITs outbidding regular people (1 in 5 rental units nationwide is now owned by corporate buyers, up from 1 in 10 a decade ago) and you have the much bigger culprit for housing costs skyrocketing. Banks and landlords are taking advantage of the situation to the detriment of both immigrants and the rest of us and driving housing cost hikes

      @@seanandernacht800 because older Canadians get pushed out of cities and start looking at smaller places to move, hence the rent goes up, it’s still linked to immigration, and I’m tired of people trying to find a “oooo corporate greed” angle, like no, there’s too many people coming here, it’s simple as that. Where was the corporate greed 30 years ago? Why does corporate greed magically correlate with other problems that people want to ignore?

    • @lilpwnige
      @lilpwnige Месяц назад +12

      That's a misrepresentation, pretty much every city has grown by 8-10% over the last 8 years. Saskatoon is actually outpacing the GTA and even Calgary when it comes to growth over that period. As people have said largely due to internal migration. The bottom line is in 2023 we built 219,942 homes, we let in 433,842 immigrants, about 0.5 homes per immigrant (the US, for example builds 0.89 homes per immigrant), which we have maintained for decades, while over this same period we have seen some of the greatest year over year increases in the cost of housing, in the developed world.
      When you have lots of demand, prices are going to go up and the accommodations people can afford will get worse. I wish we could blame the banks for this one, but the solution to affordable housing is either to let less people in, thus lowering demand and allowing supply a chance to catch up, or to improve Canada's ability to build more homes (reducing red tape, investing in skilled trades, subsidizing new developments...etc.), thus allowing supply to outpace demand.
      "Corporate greed' is like this magical panacea that explains all of our problems, but the reality of the matter is that corporations follow the money and thus its a symptom not the root cause. Companies wouldn't be investing nearly as heavy in rental properties if supply and demand were normal, because it would be less profitable to do so. It also works against itself, because there's always a different group of corporations that stands to gain immensely from flooding the housing market. Thus, corporate greed cancels itself out.

    • @seanandernacht800
      @seanandernacht800 Месяц назад +4

      @@papermind4010 I'm not saying that housing built isn't being outpaced by migration/immigration recently, but immigration also isn't the only factor in this equation. 30 years ago REITs and major investment firms like BlackRock weren't buying up apartment blocks, multiplex houses, and single family homes at the pace they are now, as I said, 1 in 5 rental units now. There's plenty of data to back up this acceleration, look up the work of Martine August, she's researched this extensively. 30 years ago we were also building the same amount of public housing each year that Trudeau's "once in a generation" housing fund was building over 10 years, and some Conservative premiers rejected that funding. Mulroney and Chretien gutted those old housing programs and set the pieces in motion for where we are today, historical context matters

    • @seanandernacht800
      @seanandernacht800 Месяц назад +5

      @@lilpwnige think about what you're saying. The supply and demand nature of a commodified housing market IS the root of the problem. When you or I have to bid against a company with tons of raw capital and building assets to leverage against, who do you think has the ability to drive up prices more? 1 in 5 rental units are owned by corporations, and those are increasingly becoming single family homes, proportionally. If 20% of all rental units were to be expropriated by the government and brought back into the market and only regular people could buy them, how does that affect your supply/demand calculation? Yes, migration/immigration is a factor, the brain drain of city people moving to small towns during COVID also drove up prices, hell, I was a part of that. But until we treat housing like a human right and stop letting people own multiple houses (let alone multiple apartment blocks) until everyone has one, then capitalists keep us poors (born here or not) fighting amongst ourselves rather than fighting them

    I live just outside Brampton in a majority Indian neighbourhood, and spend most of my time in Brampton so I'm used to feeling like an outsider lol.
    But just wanna point out that the number of Indians isn't actually more than the other immigrant groups combined. If you just look at the top 10 source countries for immigrants it is, but including the rest of the countries Indians are about 1/3 of the immigrants, the other top ten (Philippines, China, Pakistan, Iran, Nigeria, France, etc.) are another 1/3, and the remaining countries are another 1/3. Also not the majority are coming from Punjab. I'd guess its also around 1/3 of Indians coming from Punjab and are Sikhs, so they are definitely overrepresented, but Indians from all parts of India are coming in large numbers. I've met Indian international students who've come in the past year from all over India--Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, Gujarat, Maharashtra, Kerala, Telangana, Jammu, etc. Disproportionately the Punjabi Sikhs will go to Brampton and Surrey because that is where they're dominant, but Indians of other groups settle all across the country whether in other parts of Ontario, Quebec, Maritimes, Prairies, etc. This isn't just a Brampton issue. As someone who has spent my whole life living next to Brampton I'd actually say that the effects are felt less here than they are elsewhere in the country because there was already a large Indian community here before the Post-Covid migration wave.

So naturally MNC's and different organisations outsourcing Indians from decades for running their businesses. While natives of those countries specially youths are not Educated and skilled enough so that's why their countries organizations outsourced Indians. In USA Indian Americans are the highest earning ethanic groups and largest Tax payers to the Government of United States. Only 1% Indian American population of total countries population pays 6% of Taxes . They are the richest race over there and also same for UK. In Canada they are having share with Chinese immigrants besides as highest earning ethanic groups than major native Canadians. Yes Indians are talented so they get admired everywhere. Out of 1.4 Billion less than 1% immigrated to such nations in recent years. Majority is not leaving. And we don't need others to tell about India's greatness. India is world's fastest Growing Nation and its in 5th position right now. It's has one of the most powerful Military in the world. In terms of critical Technology innovation. Hey man, Amazing video. I usually do not comment on videos but I wanted to say some words. I am a first gen south Indian Canadian (not from the Punjab state mentioned in this video) and I think that this is a very neutral way of expressing your love for Canada. I really like how you did not bash on the students and blamed the root cause, which are the "middle men" the greed colleges and the "loose" immigration system. I also like how you were optimistic at the end and did not really show support to any political parties. Very respectable content.
    It makes me so sad to know that the Indian international student - Permanent Resident Loophole has gotten this bad. I first started to notice the uptick in international students around 2018-2019. I just want to add that I am not trying to generalise all international students, there are many who study and go back home, but I am aiming for the ones that come here for the reason to become a permanent resident and eventually bring their family here.
    What frustrates me so much is that back when I started to notice the uptick in 2018 and mentioned it to friends and forums, they all called me "racist" "ungrateful" or "your parents were immigrants". People only started changing their mind after how many issues have risen since then. Cancel culture has scared many of us to talk about such topics.
    I grew up in Canada so I might be a little biased here, but the issue is that Canadian "culture" is slowly fading. The Indians are hanging out with other Indians. They are not trying to learn Canadian culture. Without "culture", conflicts will arise just like the one you mentioned in the video.
    I just felt like I needed to let it out here in the comment section as I am sure that this video is viewed by many other first gen Canadian - Indians who feel the same way that you do. We love our country and we do not want it to get ruined.
    To the Indian international students who read this, I am not angry at you, I am angry at the people who brainwashed you to come here and struggle. I am angry at the money hungry people that profited off of your misery. You deserve better.
    Glad the government is making changes, although it may be late. I do hope the new government continues to tackle this issue quite seriously. We can not fix the international student immigration system in a day, but we can make huge steps towards it!

    The immigration selection system needs an overhaul. I have worked in both the US and Canadian immigration fields as legal counsel. It seems to me that Indian immigrants are quite favored by our government and they are given more quotas, less scrutiny. I have nothing against immigration, but to massively import people from one or two particular countries is not productive for the host country and for the immigrants.

Even among the various ethnicities of India, Punjabis and Jats are especially known to live lavishly (many times out of their means) and are known for their superflous, show off culture. That is why you will see them with luxury cars, it is their culture to show off. And most immigrants to Canada can from the Punjab-Haryana region, where these two communities originate from.

      Then there is the second group who basically don't have much skill and are unwilling to work hard in india and compete here, these are the people who are running to the diploma mills in Canada hoping for the easy and grand life there.
      Most of the middle skilled indians actually stay in india and are contributing to the growth of the country.
