For me, the ideas in ruclips.net/user/postUgkxAfqpMLyFn37qcqUl0FAzqkkycQeXqrhP Plans were a starting point for building different sheds . Ryan gives ideas that allow an individual to draw nicest conclusions into the design and building of his or her own shed.
Kyle you've been an inspiration. My situation here in the UK is very different, but with the way the world is going instead of selling my old house for something more modern I'm thinking about solar, opening the chimneys back up and putting stoves in, converting the barn, and growing my own food. There's already a well and plenty of space for a fairly self-sufficient small family to grow, keep chickens etc. I'd like to find myself a nice lady like you have lol, and am a generation older, with no practical skills (yet!) but you really have inspired me over the last few years of seeing what you've accomplished, it's amazing. Thank you!!!
Don’t sell yourself short, you got most of it already, do what the people in Canada and US did so many years ago put a add in a paper telling the Ladies what your wanting and looking for in a partner might be surprised at the responses 😁
I am in UK as well. What a great comment. I woukd say,you are half way there, already. Realise your Dreams and create them. Make A Way 100 Per Cent- Life is Short, ❤Do it!
Not entirely sure, but when I looked into solar panels here in the UK, it was almost worthless now. If you're done out years ago you actually got something for it. But now you only get pennies of a return on them because most of it goes into the grid. Unless there's another way to do it
No plumbing can be a bit brutal… atleast with kids haha and or when you get sick. I lived that life for over a year. There was one time where my daughter, my husband and I all had a stomach virus and her being 2 would just sit up and throw up all over herself, our sheets and blankets, you realize being able to throw a blanket into the wash instantly is such a perk.
Convenience is nice, but this isnt the boomer generation anymore. Many working class folks have been priced out of modern luxuries such as electricity without working their entire life away for it. There are always sacrifices to be made for freedom
It's nice to hear that you're living this life. To see a millennial living this way is refreshing. I lived this way for 10years here in maine, I have done everything you have. There is no better way to live in my eyes, best of luck to guys. I hope to return to this life soon.
I know u both work hard there & Cierra has her dancing to do too but u have a wonderful life. Few bills to pay & no boss to tell u u are late etc. I envy u . Stay well & enjoy x
Quite interesting how we've been living with basically the same set up, except the water, which is a drilled well and hand pump for our drinking water, and collected rain water that is pumped to an indoor 80 gal water reservoir that is gravity fed to our sinks/tub, which has served us well.
You & Cierra stroke a piece of my heart,I'm 60 & love a wood stove,I have problems with my bones although a few minutes by the stove helps,Skeeter seems to be your right hand man, nice job, snow water yum
Small tip. We always had a larger metal drum inside our house. And once you had good supply of melted snow. We would add snow every day and it would melt itself. So a large metal garbage can beside your wood stove and add extra snow all the time to keep a good supply of extra water.
You are right, there is nothing like wood stove heat. I do have bedrooms with beds in my cabin but when I'm by myself I sleep on a cot in front of my wood stove so I can take in that comforting heat. Falling asleep to the fire going through the window is nice to.
This is the only channel I subscribe to with notifications turned on and drop everything to watch with the family. You're truly living the dream and thank you for sharing it so beautifully with the rest of us.
I live in an area that is on grid ( off grid is forbidden by law ), so my main objective is reducing dependency as much as possible. We have to be tied into the electric grid, so we look for ways to use it as little as possible. We have oil heat, we have an efficient woodstove and plenty of wood such as oak, maple , black walnut , its a ranch style home with 240 ft of gutters that collect water in barrels which is transferred by electric pumps to our vegetable gardens, lawn, planters etc. I hunt, fish, have a sloping gravel driveway that drains well, but I continually tune in to your channel as well as several others- looking for idea's that I can incorporate into my own homestead. I'm far from net 0, but happy with the fact that I'm able to cut any corners I can. I'd be content with flipping the main breaker off once in awhile and letting my desire of living totally off grid shine on. It would be the best of both worlds. You and Cierra are very lucky and I enjoy watching both.
You both have done yourselves proud and it absolutely is a possible choice to live simple and live free. We've been doing it for 25 yrs. although we are on grid for my husband's workshop and have grid to the house but rarely use it. We have an old commercial size ice box for frigeration, have freezers we run with a solar generator and a well for irrigating that does run off the grid in summer months. We've been debt free for 18 yrs. so you both are way ahead of the game and very smart in our eyes.
I believe the American Dream has been redefined to mean so much more than its original intent. I am happy to see you have achieved the original American Dream. Good work Kyle.
Another great video! Living off the land and as simple as you can is called living a good life! You are not existing you are living. I agree about the wood stove heat. Growing up that is all the source of heat we had. My dad would chop wood all year and had big stock piles through the winter months. When I got older and moved, I almost froze to death with central heat lol
Growing up this way we always had two 5 gallon bucks in the winter for water/snow melting. My mother and 4 of us kids. One bucket was always outside the door full of snow. We too melted water on the stove but we also alway had a 5 gallon slowly melting away inside that we could add snow too from the outside bucket as it melted. This made it easier to maintain our drinking water and the animals. We got a camp gravity shower when I was older but as a kid we had a metal wash tub(same one we used to wash laundry) that we took baths in. We had a good rotation system of collecting snow melting and filling. I remember how difficult it was being snowed in for weeks at a time. We used kerosene lamps and had one battery operated light. I miss those days and would love to go back (with a few comforts added) This was not that long ago for I’m not even 40. I was always more fulfilled living a simple life. Thank you for sharing and you guys are doing a great job. Might want to try adding a 5 gallon bucket or two to your water system especially if you get more animals. You might be pleasantly surprised by the huge difference it makes.
Kudos to you both, but we all know Skeeter is responsible for your success 💞🥰 and the chickens, who always coo when you enter their home 😂. God bless your path and keep making your great videos!
Thanks for this video! You have come a LONG way since you started. THIS IS ONE OF YOUR BEST PRESENTATIONS! I have lived in several primitive situations - - at age 77 I just put a pencil to it and figured I have lived 26% of my life without running water and with wood for heat. One of the BEST places I ever lived was 38 miles from town and 9 miles off pavement. Had electricity, but used less than $20 per month of that. Wood for heat, well in floor of kitchen - installed rope crank. Bathed in lake until too cold, then heated water on stove for bath. KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK - - thanks for sharing
Firewood heats you 4 times. Cutting, splitting, stacking, and burning. 7 cord a year here at my off grid home. Still going strong. Thanks for sharing. PeaceY
Yes, you are living the American Way. It is great that you two are young enough to keep it going and I truly hope all goes continually well for you. Really proud of you Kyle, because you do prove nothing is impossible and you have a great outlook with a very positive attitude with your off grid living, and I love how you both are not lazy about keeping it alive..
How do you disinfect your water? Aren’t there pollution in the air above? Collects on the particles in the atmosphere. Or do you boil it over the stove? Where do you buy matches? Is there a store you get supplies from? you have one of those same stoves that Texas silver on RUclips ad well as Aaron in Texas. He’s got one of those that he’s a 2600 square-foot home. You all have your money in cash? Or in a bank in town? You have to buy food . See that your fridge is full. Just wondered. Great video! Best to you guys!!
That's an awesome summarization of ya'lls life in the woods! I'm sure it makes alot of people envious with the joy and happiness ya'll have without worries of a normal existence...lol Love ya'll ❤️
It's pretty awesome how sometimes just the most simple things can bring you the most joy in life.......That was my favorite phrase. It is true and it made my day. Thank You!!
This was a great video! Even though I watch all your videos, this was a great "in a nutshell" video for anyone wanting to know what your channel is about or anyone asking themselves if they can do this as well. Well done, Kyle and Cierra (and Skeeter, of course!)! ☺️
You are a special person. I think you would make the most where ever you live. You are interesting to listen too. I love your attitude and how the good ole simple life is enough. Thank you. Enjoy your videos.
Great summary of how you, Cierra and Skeeter live. But I am glad I watched from the beginning, it was much more fun. If I wasn't disabled, I would love living as you do. I am sure this video will get others interested and perhaps help a lot of people. It's amazing what you two have done. Smart how you are living, especially with what's going on in the World these days. Wish we all could do it. Take care as always. --TGG
A great project. You both should be proud of your accomplishment. You actually do have "bills" there are just in a different form that those that rely on others for their water, wastewater, electricity and other services. You have more control (and more responsibility) that those that walk in and turn their heat on in the winter and pay a monthly bill to have water out of a faucet and can flush their poo away. I'm doing something similar, having drilled a well and having built some grid-tied solar in a small unincorporated town. Not as remote as your choice, but still I've got more control of these monthly expenses than many. Good luck with your adventure. Don't be afraid to "improve" some of what you have to make things more comfortable over time.
Great video! I live very similar to you two but solo and much more remote. Melting snow for water tips are right on the money. I keep two 5 gallon pots on the woodstove at all times melting snow.
Wonderful to see you guy's 😀 excellent 👌 job you are doing 👏 Thanks so very much for sharing your time with us 🇺🇸 God bless you and your family and keep you all in His tender care 😊 We truly appreciate you and enjoy everything you are doing 😊 Have a wonderful evening 😊
Kyle, you are becoming an off grid Rock Star. Soon a 100k subs and they will start following you like flies on...another awesome video my man. Stay warm, stay safe and enjoy the fresh air.
Great job guys .Looks real cozy .I love the woods but when I was married she didn't and now that I'm alone I'm too old to live the dream .One just has to choose the right mate .Congrats to you both .Enjoy and be safe .
Awesome video Kyle, I’d like to say you are one of the luckiest guys, for what you have and the lifestyle you and Cierra live, but i don’t think luck had anything to do with it. You have worked hard for everything and now the two of you are enjoying the rewards. You are a role model for the next generation and the present. Stay warm and look forward to seeing the next video Rob from Ontario, Canada 🍁
You have come along way man and excited to see you have the same success as "My self reliance" or wranglerstar has had. We need our generation to carve a path into simple living and debt free lives. 💪
You should have drilled a well with a hand pump before built your house ... That's how my Grandmother had it in the old house in the early 1900 ...... It never froze because of the wood stove in the kitchen ...... She cook with wood stove and on the back was a reservoir for hot water ......
That’s great. I converted a reefer into an off grid place and also have a dry cabin. I love it and I love your place. Great job. I was totally interested in how you rigged up your shower and I quite like it. I have a bath house for now where I go and pump water and heat it on a wood stove there but having a shower in the house would be nice to. Great idea.
I'm a new subscriber and I truly appreciate what you are doing!!! I started doing this in Alaska 22 years ago now and I'm so proud to see others doing it in my home state. Sending my Love to you both!!! How far would you have to go down to get water? We pounded down by hand only 24 feet here. We also was able to get the septic tank system down 3 years ago by watching a RUclips Channel. The secret is 2 tanks. One for solids and one for liquids and a good leach pipe with holes in it. Be sure you use the membrane TAP around it so nothing can clog holes.
I’ve noticed that in life when u do something that you specifically set out to do….. you yourself are the one that enjoys it and appreciates it the most ! Great video Kyle ! I saw your dad was out last video and I follow along and know how big he is on what you’re doing and I’m sure he’s very proud ! I. 51 and have sons your age and I’d be very proud of what you’ve done and how you’ve done it ! Both you and Sierra
If I wasn't already a big fan, this video would have hooked me. It was GREAT. You and Cierra are so positive and refreshing. I just have a good feeling come over me every time I watch your programs. Take care and God bless.
I have followed you onand off. Congratulations on creating your own best life. It’s strange when I was your age I thought I needed so much. I was wrong. In my 60s and I need so little. I never knew less is truly more.
Love your cabin! I live in an A Frame that is almost offgrid. I have solar too. I think it would be a great idea if more people would learn to live offgrid because they might have to at some point. It's a great life! Karen at the office huh? LOL I got a good chuckle out of that one and oh so true!
Your right there's nothing like wood stove heat. Love this vlog. Great information on how you live. Job well done by your parents, to raise a very mature young man. 😊🇱🇷
This is such an inspiration to me and I'm sure many. I pray that I get a chance to live like you do. I just love your videos and I love your little family, including your dad and your mom even though we haven't met her yet. I really wish you the very best. Just keep putting out videos. I'm always excited for you and Cierra's videos. God bless you all.
I like the fact that you " own a little piece of land" too many times I watch something like this and it turns out that the tiny home or off grid cabin is on a piece of land owned by mum and dad or granny and grandpa - which in my opinion is not really being self sufficient. So well done to both of you. I have one question- what do you do about disposing of the contents of your toilets? This is a genuine enquiry - I am not trying to be funny or facetious
Kyle and Cierra, by definition (your age) you may be millennials but from getting to know you guys through both channels you are anything but! You guys have your heads screwed on so straight and are so personable, you are great examples of how life can be enjoyed . Awesome stuff.
@@KYLESCABIN I use a big, hefty made-in-Japan saw about 18 inches long with huge teeth. Rips through logs in seconds! At first I thought a chainsaw would be faster, but not the case as long as wood is cut green. No chain saw needed!
I admire how you are young and chose to live this way.
Hello 👋 Palmer, how are you doing?

I’m in the uk too but think a cabin in Minnesota or Alaska is the way to go, 6 months USA, 6 months Canada.
Don’t sell yourself short, you got most of it already, do what the people in Canada and US did so many years ago put a add in a paper telling the Ladies what your wanting and looking for in a partner might be surprised at the responses 😁
I am in UK as well.
What a great comment.
I woukd say,you are half way there,already.
Realise your Dreams and create them.
Make A Way

I love your ideas of using what you already have & making it work! I really hope you bring it all to fruition! Good luck!

This is a perfect video to put up as your “trailer” for the channel.
Agreed
💯
Step one in living this dream for Kyle looks like it's been to find a beautiful, intelligent, skilled and capable woman to share it with him.
I want to live this way! Makes like look so more simplistic, not overwhelmed by lots of people , chemicals.
No plumbing can be a bit brutal… atleast with kids haha and or when you get sick. I lived that life for over a year. It is totally heartwarming to see a young person like you, who gets it. I love your style. Thank you for sharing.
I know u both work hard there & Cierra has her dancing to do too but u have a wonderful life. Few bills to pay & no boss to tell u u are late etc. I envy u . Stay well & enjoy x

You & Cierra stroke a piece of my heart,I'm 60 & love a wood stove,I have problems with my bones although a few minutes by the stove helps,Skeeter seems to be your right hand man, nice job, snow water yum

Thank you Kyle for sharing your beautiful life
I was born and raised in MN so watching your videos make it feel like home to me...love it🥰🥰🥰
This is becoming one of my favorite channels.
Kyle, wood heat Heat's you three times...
Cutting it, stacking it and burning it. Enjoy that warm wood heat.
The little ladies are very fortunate to have someone like you looking over them.
Great video. Kyle and Cierra are living an authentic life. Lots of hard work but sustainable and debt free!
You are right, there is nothing like wood stove heat. I do have bedrooms with beds in my cabin but when I'm by myself I sleep on a cot in front of my wood stove so I can take in that comforting heat. Falling asleep to the fire going through the window is nice to.
You have a lot to teach others. Excellent advice to all, live free of stress.
Thank you for sharing your story. 🌸
Blessed great life 🙏 and home sweet home. Thanks again keep warm
You worked pretty hard to get where you are Kyle……..you’re definitely doing it right 😊👍
Just Beautiful!! Well Done!!
This is the only channel I subscribe to with notifications turned on and drop everything to watch with the family. You're truly living the dream and thank you for sharing it so beautifully with the rest of us.
👏👏👏👏👏 same here
Jamaica 🇯🇲 here great positive vibes loving 🥰 it just real and truly wonderful
I live in an area that is on grid ( off grid is forbidden by law ), so my main objective is reducing dependency as much as possible. you have one of those same stoves that Texas silver on RUclips ad well as Aaron in Texas. He’s got one of those that he’s a 2600 square-foot home.
You all have your money in cash? Or in a bank in town? You have to buy food . See that your fridge is full. Just wondered. Great video! Best to you guys!!

Hell ya Kyle. This was a refreshing change of video with a fantastic message. Real cool man. Very remenisant of classic docs from the 80s.
A great project. You both should be proud of your accomplishment. Even the chickens looked happy and content. Great video great lifestyle choice.
You guys have done everything the right way!! If I had the opportunity to do it all over again. It would be just the way you guys did it.
Best way of living
Well said Kyle, we all have choices to either live with drama or find peace on earth.
Again I say, you have so much wisdom for a young couple.
So much wisdom for "A Young Man"!
She does Nothing!!!!
How simple things can you the most joy in life.... this is so true!
You’ve done a wonderful job! Your such a hard worker!
I always enjoy your videos. Been watching you for a long time and never tire of it.
Kyle, you are becoming an off grid Rock Star. Soon a 100k subs and they will start following you like flies on...another awesome video my man.
Stay warm, stay safe and enjoy the fresh air.
Well said , this guy is awesome
He’s got 100k now :)
Super video. I feel more relaxed just watching it.
Awesome job living off grid!! You got it figured out. Fantastic videos..very informative
Nailed it Kyle.
Heck, I melt snow for my morning coffee! I always have a stock pot on the wood stove.
Living the dream young man. Keep at it.
Living vicariously through you and Cierra! ❤LOVE IT.
Kyle you always make great videos. You" ve learned at a young age what some people don't figure out into later in life!
Good video of reminders Kyle...
Keep it up, Kyle! You and Cierra have built an incredible life together!
I have enjoyed watching your lifestyle! You are blessed in many ways. Hard work is rewarded in this life. Thank you for sharing it with us!
Loved this! It sounds like the perfect way to live to me! Now, if I could just find someone who feels the same way!
You’re the man brother! Whoever raised you should be proud. I’m gonna do this too this is awesome 💪🏻 God bless man have a safe fall and winter season!
Great job guys .Looks real cozy .I love the woods but when I was married she didn't and now that I'm alone I'm too old to live the dream .One just has to choose the right mate .Congrats to you both .Enjoy and be safe .
You're doing it right. You're a smart guy
Great video! I've watched all of your builds and you've done an amazing job with all of them.
P.S. I'm one of the good Karen's 😂😂😂
Lol! Good to know there are "good" Karen's out there!
Hahaha 😂
Who can argue that you truly are living the American dream. Way to go!! 👍
Stay warm and look forward to seeing the next video

Kyle and his wife are totally self sufficient ....way to go in this energies rising prices...respect😎👏Hi from Scotland .
You have come along way man and excited to see you have the same success as "My self reliance" or wranglerstar has had. We need our generation to carve a path into simple living and debt free lives. 💪
ABSOLUTELY WONDERFUL
I ENVY YOU BOTH
You should have drilled a well with a hand pump before built your house ... That's how my Grandmother had it in the old house in the early 1900 ...... It never froze because of the wood stove in the kitchen ...... She cook with wood stove and on the back was a reservoir for hot water ......
Sup captain hindsight. You can take your grandma and your 2 cents and shove it right up your ass
you nailed the narration of this my friend. great video!
Great idea.
This lifestyle is not for lazy people! This is a serious commitment.😦
Composting also works quite well, we've been doing this for 10 years already. Joseph Jenkins has a great book on the subject.
Just wanted to say you’re both amazing…
So cosy and so sustainable.. so simple and so satisfying..
I love this guy’s persona. He walk the talk, no bs. 👍🏻🙋🏼♀️
This is beautiful! You guys did an amazing job!
I love the way you guys live. It's beautiful. Thank you for sharing!
I would love to live like you do. Maybe one day.
Yep that would have hooked me to watching your videos if I wasn't already hooked on watching your videos. Great job Kyle
Kyles videos.
Let's have it right!
This cierra,does Nothing!!
What an amazing, grounded young couple. It gives me hope for the future generation. Thanks for living your best life.
Oh yeah! I AGREE
What? You mean that you don’t happen to conveniently own some land for your RUclips channel?!
God bless you and your family Kyle!
Kyle and Cierra, by definition (your age) you may be millennials but from getting to know you guys through both channels you are anything but! You guys have your heads screwed on so straight and are so personable, you are great examples of how life can be enjoyed . Awesome stuff.
Keep the backhanded compliment and insinuation millenials don't have their heads screwed on. As usual boomers are out of touch with reality.
Way to generalize, Richard.
I’ve been sawing logs with a hand saw for years. Very simple and easy to do and nice and quiet.
I agree!
@@KYLESCABIN I use a big, hefty made-in-Japan saw about 18 inches long with huge teeth. Rips through logs in seconds! At first I thought a chainsaw would be faster, but not the case as long as wood is cut green. No chain saw needed!
Kyle the Young Boss of the Bush...
I like your outlook on life!
