Seeing your ducks makes me really miss mine! I butchered them all last fall to have more time for my human babies! They are such happy little buggers when you clean and fill their pool! Or when you give them fresh greens.
Great Joe and Zach Survival comment, Northern Seclusion and NB88, Simple Living Alaska, and Just A Few Acres Farm channels are all great. Great vid Kyle
Love watching this Kyle and Cierra. Glad to see you put some fencing in, the gardens and raised beds are really coming along. No one seems to work for their goals harder than you two. It's beautiful where you live.
I have a couple of mulberry trees across the street, on the parkway. I have been keeping an eye on them, and they are just about ready for harvesting. Gotta get to them before a neighbor a block away comes for them! We had about an acre of wild blackberry and raspberry patches on the farm where I grew up - I have memories of getting stuck with thorns and watching for rattlers.
You may already know the YT “Bushradical”. He has several vids on sinking a hand pump well. The one titled “Hand Pump Well, everything you need to know” looks like a lot of good information to me. Even if you don’t have the right conditions, it’s very interesting! Great video, Kyle, your place is looking great!
Kyle, I was thinking about your water transfer system. You could buy a large water barrel used or new and sit it on your trailer and then pump your water from the lake to it every 4-5 days. We use them around my area for farm spray or I have a friend that uses one to water his squash, pumpkins and he pulls it around with his quad. I know your idea works, but this might work really slick! Def cheaper then drilling a well when the lake is right there.
I do something similar. I have two IBC 275 gallon totes. I take one on the trailer and use a gas water pump to fill it from the lake. Takes 5 min. Then I transfer the water from it to the stationary one at my cabin. When transfering it to the stationary one, I pass the lake water thru filters.
Tell me you guys have been seeing 👀 the Northern Lights this last week? We've had A LOT of bears 🐻 in Stillwater, MN recently. We are along the St. Croix National Scenic Riverway, so it's like a highway 🛣 for bears 🐻. I don't know if I'll make it to the BWCA this Summer, so it's good to watch your boreal forest life...
It looks so peaceful where you are!! You've done such a good job with everything! It's a lot of work. People don't realize how much work it is, but, you do it so well! You guys are blessed. I wish I had known about stuff like this when I was younger. I'm getting older, but, wish I could have my own place with a cabin on it.
Great video Kyle Thank you for sharing your day Love the chickens and ducks They are having a great day Loved the fire pit Sounds like you have great plans for the homestead Take care Kyle Cierra and Skeeter See you in next video
I really like your winter stuff ,below zero and all that ,but summer is so beautiful, green, lush ,it goes by so fast may to September, enjoy while it's warm my brother 👍👍👍😊
Love the woodpecker family! Must be fun watching them. Sorry you are still working out the water issues. You mentioned Alaska water stations, end it occurred to me that there are lots of campgrounds around you that have water stations for RV’s where you can get drinking water. Not sure that would work for you but it’s worth checking out. Having lived half of my life on the Navajo reservation where a lot of people have to haul water every week, I know how much work it is. But once you get into the groove of it and you have a large container expressly for hauling, it is not so bad.
do a compost pile that is halfway covered with a black tarp this winter - it should get hot through winter if you make it big enough - i would encourage you to remove more trees but also try to plant some trees and get some compost and or cow manure and lime and boost up the lawn - do a pollinator strip and then a forage strip and you can hunt easy - consider some rows of blackberries and or raspberries - if you plant now they will do better next year - think about some blueberries too - think about the firepit for sure but also a greenhouse - power may be the biggest limiting factor - double down on the solar
Hey Kyle, I remember having chickens growing up and after cleaning the coop out I would sprinkle lime powder over the floor before adding new bedding. It helps with moisture and smell. I really enjoy your channel, keep it up!
Kyle, have you seen Justin Rhodes videos on how he puts his chicken coops on wheels and moves them around. I notice his friends who are also off grid homesteaders are doing the same. The chickens are considered free rangers as a result. You are such a hard worker. Girlfriend is lucky to have landed you.
You do a great job on your videos. Enjoy watching them. Your parents trained you well. You have a great work ethic. Let's hope for rain. Dry in north west Wisconsin.
Kyle, have you ever thought of putting a roof over your front porch. That would be a great place to sit when it's super hot and sunny out. Just a thought. Take Care brother
Your work at the cabin is never done. The garden is looking good. Hope you get rain t fill your barrel. Your project for the loft is going to be interesting to see. Take care and be safe.(Judy NB)🌲🇨🇦
Beautiful video of two awesome souls, a great dog, happy chickens and ducks. Kyle, have you talked to any well drilling companies yet about water? We built in Georgia in 94 and drilled a 6 inch drilled well for water. 3500 Bucks for Hole With Casing To bedrock. Lucked out and actually get 2GPM artesian flow so we flow it to elevated 300 gallon tank. No power needed and we have great pressure.
Hi Kyle, I watched one of your videos where a chicken got eaten by a predator. I lost 11 of 16 hens one summer, they were 18 weeks old and almost ready to begin laying. I had a pair of fox. I ended up fencing in my backyard, roughly 1 1/2 to 2 acres, we haven't lost a bird in 5 years now. I used 2"x4" welded wire. Hope that helps.
@@KYLESCABIN I don't know if you ever heard of TheNorthWoodsman1 here on RUclips but he is worth watching. I think his cabin may not be too far from yours and I imagine this might be how you guys are in your 70's!
I person could use that trailer with as many barrels as you have and run it right up next to the lake. I've been doing the same here during the drought. Best wishes - new zealand.
if you ever have any weed issue in your raised beds , cover the top with that old bedding as well, it will deter weed growth as it fertilizes too .. just thick enough no sun hits the soil so weedseed wont grow (youprolly already know that or someone may have made that comment)
You are doing so good Kyle ! Enjoyed this video very much. We haven't had rain right here for 2 months. It's been near 100 for 2 weeks and no relief in sight
Hey, with that lake so lake so close, maybe you could dig a well to tap into that source. Water on property would be so killer. Just a thought. Thanks for sharing
My husband and I enjoy your videos! We have a cabin in Northern Minnesota as well. By the way, the berries you were picking are dew berries, not raspberries and they are soooo delicious!
Those would be dwarf raspberries. The wild strawberries and blueberries are out in full swing too! You probably have strawberries all over the place there if you look closely.
Good job Kyle I know that's hard work but it's also fun too and very rewarding been there done that but while you kids have done a great job and I love the fire pit very very unique and cool very safe well you enjoy your summer and hope it all goes well love the chickens and the ducks you're like kids. Love and light Miss Susie Lebanon Oregon
Kyle have you ever thought of cutting up your own lumber by getting the machine that Outside with the Morgans and Simply living Alaska, they have built many sheds from the wood from there property. That way you can make any size board you want or need instead of buying.
Always chores to do on the homestead. 👍🏽👍🏽👍🏽👍🏽👍🏽👍🏽
Hello. Have a safe blessed night! 🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽
Seeing your ducks makes me really miss mine! I butchered them all last fall to have more time for my human babies! They are such happy little buggers when you clean and fill their pool! Or when you give them fresh greens.
You two are blessed to have each other and enjoying life with a purpose.
Take care of each other and your animals. Can’t wait to see your new build!
Great Joe and Zach Survival comment, Northern Seclusion and NB88, Simple Living Alaska, and Just A Few Acres Farm channels are all great. Great vid Kyle
Dale @NB88 for the win!
I always look forward to a new video from NB88, all are great channels!
Sitting around the fire, you two look so happy. Skeeter needs to work on his herding skills. Take care & stay safe.
Love watching this Kyle and Cierra. Glad to see you put some fencing in, the gardens and raised beds are really coming along. No one seems to work for their goals harder than you two. It's beautiful where you live.
Thank Tim! Little by little we are making things happen. Thanks for your support.
The JOE and ZACH survival treatment 🤣
I spit out my drink when he said that.😂
LOL hilarious!!!!

You're so good to your chickens and ducks. Love it. The homestead is looking great. 😊🙏🏼
Sitting around the fire with Skeeter and free-range chickens. Doesn't get much better than that.
What a difference a year makes!!! Nice work you two!! 💪🏻
Love the Joe and Zach survival comment! You guys should do a video together!
Some of your pretty stones around the fire pit. 🔥

The place looks beautiful Kyle. Best time to water is before sunup/ after sundown.
So beautiful!! Looks so different without snow! Garden is coming along beautifully!!

If you wait until spring to put your manure/compost on the gardens you do not lose the nutrients to the fall rains and winter snow melt.
Sorry you're lacking in water but your garden really looks good you're doing a great job both of you are. Take care.
Great video!! I enjoy watching you, Cierra & Skeeter!!!
Love how y’all have dressed up the exterior - your porch, as well as the yard in general.
Oh wow, I LOVE the Northern Flickers.
Ah, relaxing by the fire with a PBR, brings back memories.
I’ve never seen anyone work so hard. You never stop!

Take care Kyle Cierra and Skeeter
See you in next video

Try adding earthworms and night crawlers to the raised beds for more castings and aerated soils.
you can add your egg shells and coffee grounds to the soil to feed the worms and improve the soil as well.
I wish I had half your enthusiasm and half your knowledge!
Me too
Homestead looks great dude. Nice work.
This is awesome !! ❤ thats what it is all about !

The way you live and how you treat nature and living things is impressive. You are a fighter and you do it well. Stay safe and have fun.
I love the Joe and Zack Survival reference. He always has tons of lighter fluid on hand.
The no BS way of getting a fire going!
Hi LOVIES this was great, enjoyed your day. So busy and fun. GOD BLESS love you guys New Zealand Hugh and Desiree.
Use peat moss in chicken house. 1. Kills smell immediately 2. Turns manure from too hot to use to ready immediately for fertilizer.
I was laughing when you had to bring the ducks back in! You need to train your dog to wrangle them birds! lol
Top day so lucky 👍👍🇬🇧🇬🇧👍👍
Love your typical day vids. Thanks for sharing.
You do a great job on your videos. Enjoy watching them. Your parents trained you well. You have a great work ethic. Let's hope for rain. Dry in north west Wisconsin.
Kyle, your garden is looking good. I thought I saw some mustard greens. Have a good summer.
Kyle it's just as pretty in the winter, great pad u made.
Have a great summer.✌💙

Love your resourcefulness. It disgusts me how much people waste in this modern bourgeois age. PBR, good choice bruv
I hope one day i get to build my home like u (except i'll go concrete). Thanks for making all these videos.
Great vid Kyle, love to see those chickens and ducks out the pen and free ranging. I love my red chickens. 👍
Enjoyed hanging around the The Homestead with you, Kyle. Thank you.

Speaking of Joe and Zach. I’ve been waiting on you and Joe to surprise us with a collaboration one day. I just have a feeling it’ll happen.

This was so lovely to watch! Thanks.

Have you thought about digging a shallow well? Many RUclips videos on how to do it with hand tools. How to find the right spot too.
Nothing better than sitting around a fire drinking a cold PBR!
I always enjoy your videos and look forward to the next one.
Rasberries, a true gift. But not those weird giant ones at the store.
What are you gonna do with the ducks? Eggs? or meat? WOW what a great evening with your lady on the porch and the fire pit. AWESOME!
Kyle have you ever thought of cutting up your own lumber by getting the machine that Outside with the Morgans and Simply living Alaska, they have built many sheds from the wood from there property. That way you can make any size board you want or need instead of buying.
Sportsman’s café. Awesome.
