*I would place Dudley lower than Petunia because* 1. All of his negative qualities were very much instilled and nurtured in him whereas Petunia's grudge came from within herself. Dudley was TAUGHT that it's ok to bully Harry and was spoiled rotten from a very young age, and therefore 2. Petunia has a part in Dudley's despicable behavior being one of the parents who taught him all that. And 3. Petunia treated a child badly while being an adult, whereas Dudley when he grew up and started thinking for himself, changed his ways and became a better person.
I disagree. Petunia ONLY bullied Harry, since he represented the world she was so hurt by getting rejected from. Dudley had no such experience to explain his behavior. Also, he did not only bully Harry in an awful way. He kept bullying and both physically and psychologically torment many other kids as well, Mark Evans to name one example (I remember when reading about him that I wondered if we'd find out eventually that he was related to Harry, but apparently the sharing of the surname was just a coincidence).
*Wait where's Lockhart?* I'd say stealing other people's achievements and wiping their memories is pretty evil if you ask me. Would like to hear why he wasn't included. Personally, I'd place him above children who were raised to be arrogant bullies but as adults changed their ways
@@alandouglas2789 Respectfully, with your logic, dumbledore should be on this list. I think manipulating many people and raising a boy for his slaughter isn't great even for "the greater good"
@@alandouglas2789 He was... he was literally willing to obliviate Harry and Ron in the CoS and let Ginny die with no remose. Not to mention that he didn't teach shit in DADA all year
100% agree with what you said about snape. A lot of people forget that he was a bully even when he was a grown man as his acts of bravery are so prominent especially at the end of the series.
My surprise at seeing Bellatrix not at #2 was topped almost immediately by my surprise at Voldemort not being #1. Having said that, I can't argue with your list at all. I think it's very well thought out and just about perfect. I wouldn't change a thing. Props for not shying away from including Snape, by the way. I know a lot of people - especially movie-only fans - who like to think of him as a heroic figure only, when he obviously was not.
I have read the books multiple times and have seen the movies although I see Morgan's point, I disagree. I don't think Snape should be on this list. Too each his own.
It’s also implied he was a sexual predator, the way he kept commenting on Hermione and tried to go after Lavender. He clears prefers young women and children
@@killer92173 honestly, the moment the Rise of Skywalker came out to put an end of the Star Wars sequel trilogy, I knew I had my reasoning for being so skeptical and dreading over that film. To this day, I still did not like how it all turned out. It's just simply as worse as Harry Potter and the Curse Child from the writing perspective.
I would have considered adding Rita Skeeter to the list, as her actions are pretty harmful to multiple characters and she is manipulative and a bully. I was also a little surprised to see Umbridge not as high on the list as I thought she’d be, though I do agree with your point that she is never shown to directly kill anyone like those ranked higher are. It surprised me a bit to see Bellatrix as low as she was, but I really appreciate you including characters like Herpo and Salazar in the ranking and I totally agree with your assessment on Greyback.
In my eyes Crouch J.r. was probably the most underrated villain in the whole franchise. He was sneaky, unpredictable, mysterious, creepy and funny! It makes me sad that we only got to see him in just one book/movie. PS Great performance David Tennett.
True. And so many times when I'm reading Crouch Jr's parts, especially the courtroom scenes, I think how damn well suited Tennant would be for a movie on Crouch Jr.
Personally, I would put Dudley below Petunia. Yes, Dudley bullied Harry growing up along with his parents but at least near the end Dudley somewhat had a change of heart. In the deathly Hallows, as the Dursleys are about to leave their home, Dudley told Harry he doesn't think he's a waste of space, because he was grateful for Harry saving his life from the dementors a couple years earlier, and he shook his hand. As Harry said, that was the closest thing to an I love you that he was going to get from Dudley. Also, when they became adults and had children, their families would meet up during the holidays and even though they didn't really speak during those times, they sat with each other as their kids played. As for Petunia, her and Vernon, and Dudley bullied Harry for years, she treated Harry like how she treated Lily after Petunia herself was denied going to Hogwarts by Dumbledore. Petunia saw Harry just like she saw Lily, as a freak. Even in the end, in the deathly hallows before her, Vernon and Dudley were to leave, she never expressed regret for her actions and how she treated Harry for all of those years because she wasn't sorry. She would for the rest of her life carry that jealously of her sister. But when you compare Dudley and Petunia, Dudley saying he doesn't think he's a waste of space and having a civil relationship with Harry as adults, that was basically his redemption as a character. Petunia and Vernon however had their views on magic, and it wasn't going to change even as time went on and they wouldn't regret how they treated Harry for all of those years.
I always found disturbing that snape was neville's worst fear, the boy had his parents tortured to insanity and still he feared snape most, not the lestranges or barty jr, snape
And when Snape found out about Neville's boggart, he treated him even worse than he usually did. Snape hated Neville so much because Neville could've been the chosen one, meaning that Lily would still be alive.
@@annikalava17 Yes, and Hermione's was McGonagall at one point. Neville had seen Snape not long before doing the boggart's exercice. Had he seen his grandma instead or anyone else of the same caliber, I bet the boggart would have taken their form.
Thank you SO MUCH for putting Fenrir Greyback first, because I definitely think he is the most evil and disturbing out of all the Harry Potter villains especially since he deliberately ruined so many lives of children just for fun; Voldemort (and even Umbridge) actually had a motive, as twisted as they were (Umbridge was power hungry and liked control) but Greyback literally just wanted to ruin lives even if he gained absolutely nothing from it. So many people don't think he's that evil and he's overlooked so often so I really appreciate his placement.
@@beatriceretops no she isn't. You're only saying that because you had a bad teacher in your life. Umbridge is dangerous. Fenrir & Voldemort are deathly dangerous. They did not care what happened to any of the families or victims they killed/tortured. You must be stupid and blinded by what happened to you in school to believe that Umbridge is worse than the "Dark Lord" himself and a man that killed for no reason (including children, ruining their lives and making them feel defenseless for being a werewolf). I don't believe you ever read the books or watched any movies past The Order of the Phoenix to believe that Umbridge is the worse villain in Harry Potter.
Greyback is a Werewolf and that's What Werewolves naturally do 🤷♂️ No one expects and Werewolf to sing, dance and distribute candy to children. IMO Doing what he's naturally meant to do doesn't make him the most evil character.
Ok guys can we just mention that Bellatrix killed her own niece, Nymphadora Tonks. She was a cold blooded and ruthless killer and to do that to her own sister who she had grown up with and actually looked like is awful. She also killed her own cousin Sirius Black, and she killed Dobby. She tortured the Longbottoms out of their minds and tortured Hermione. Hard to find a purer form of evil.
I think he forgot to mention HOW she tortured Hermione. She did it in a DIRECT way. The Cruciatus Curse is brutal yes...but, using a dagger to carve "MUDBLOOD" an 8-Letter word on Hermione's arm was definately worse, that dagger was slicing each piece of skin that it did not a second of pause in the pain, the Cruciatus curse most likely has to be constantly recast to keep it at full compacity...giving a few seconds "break".
@@scootaloofromponyville1708The whole mudblood on her arm thing didn’t happen in the books I believe which is what he is ranking them on. In the books she did actually use Crucio.
@@jxgalaxy3810 Oh, right! Sorry, I forgot that wasn't in the books! I'm currently re-reading so I would've come across that she didn't have MUDBLOOD carved into her arm...But, you can see why I was confused...
Yes bellatrix is top 3 most evil but she’s not even close to Fenrir Greyback .... no one in Harry Potter back story enjoyed killing children more then him bellatrix didn’t slaughter children
I would also consider Ekrizdis, the dark wizard who was the original inhabitant of Azkaban. He was known to lure sailors to his island and to torture them in ways that were unspeakable. After he died, the enchantments that he had placed on the island faded and the ministry discovered it, only to find that the island was inhabited by dementors. Dementors have never appeared naturally in any known part of the wizarding world, possibly indicating that Ekrizdis created them. Given that dementors are THE most evil magical creature and that the purpose of their their existence is to drain people of all their happiness until eventually sucking their souls out, not to mention tormenting anyone sent to Azkaban who was falsely accused, such as Sirius Black or Hagrid, I would put him in the top five.
@@Moonlit-Demon thats what I was thinking! Like maybe lucious and then Draco would have had way harder choices as knowing his dad was responsible for volde
I remember watching Seamus Gorman's video on why does everyone think that Umbridge is worse than Voldemort. He perfectly explained that she and Voldy are two different types of evil. Umbridge is unbearably evil while Voldemort is dangerously evil. Even as a hardcore Potterhead myself, I don't think that a hellspawn of a teacher in pink clothes is more evil than a mass-murdering, merciless, snake-like sociopath.
Its because most people have had that horrible teacher in their lives, and so they feel all the things that Umbridge did on a personal level , whereas almost no one had a Voldemort in their lives, as people like him are rare. So that is why people hate Umbridge more.
Most people have a visceral reaction to Umbridge because we have all met (or will meet) someone like her. Voldemort is more evil, but very few of us will ever meet someone evil in the way he is. It’s kind of like Ron DeSantis vs. Hitler.
@@jenniferpajor5365 This is literally what I just commented but ok, Im just glad someone agrees with me. Also your explanation is better because you used the word visceral which I completely forgot existed.
I watch that video and I almost also watched another video from somebody else which explained why umbridge was more hated because her awful things were personal to us and to the protagonist and everyone and like in a way voldemort's way more distant like yeah he's off in the background killing people but you know he only ever shows up at the end of the book for a good climax and even though his relationship with Harry is kind of personal one Harry can barely remember the actual thing that said all this stuff off and two again he only shows up at the end of each book He's a distant threat not a personal one making your individual life hell It's kind of like how to some people one huge problem even as bad as a thousand tiny little inconvenient problems that make every second awful all compiled in one Hence why the last evil one is hated even more
I think part of why Nagini became so evil was because she became a horcrux. In Order of the Phoenix, Harry has his mean almost evil moments (especially in the ministry when he does the crucio curse on Bellatrix and becomes almost possessed by Voldemort). But he fights the evil almost trying to take over him. So Nagini probably experienced the same thing except she didn’t try to fight it, she just accepted it.
I’d argue that Merope Gaunt and Gilderoy Lockhart was a villain as well. Merope only did one evil act but it was quite bad, she put a man under a love potion for many months, manipulating him, and forced him to have kids with her, basically ra**. She did it for love ig, but still deserves to be on this list. Lockhart bc he stole credit for other ppls achievements and then wiped their memory of it. He was prepared to let 3 children die in the chamber of secrets after removing 2 of their memories. Also enough to be considered a villain.
Stfu. He was put under a love potion, aka drugged, was kidnapped from his family and fiance, and r@ped many times over the months or years she had him. She is a r@pist and a horrible person
When Bellatrix came, I started wondering who the others could be and noticed Fenrir missing. When Voldemort came, I went like "no way he is higher, did I miss him?". Totally did not see that coming. Chapeau _clap_

a few missing names on this list, all from way before Harry's time, are Ekrizdis, Emeric the Evil, and Raczidian. in my personal opinion Raczidian is in the top 10, and Ekrizdis is #1 for the terrible act of CREATING Dementors!
I just wanna say, you seriously know you Harry Potter stuff, MovieFlame. The time you take in these videos in astonishing and I feel everything you say covers all the loopholes I could think of. Just wanted to put that out there! Love you video and keep it up!
Harry Potter Sequel Idea: After Voldemort’s death most death eaters are rounded up and placed in prison, however one person is not apprehended, Fenrir Greyback. Greyback spends the next 15 years growing his army of werewolves just in time for Albus Potters time at hogwarts. Greyback and his army of Werewolves start the 3rd wizarding war.
I liked this idea, even tho writing such story would be very difficult, as long as it doesn't "fuck it all up" (like turning an already known good character into an evil one with no good reason) I would defnitely love to see it. That's one of those movies that can be very fun even if it is considered "bad" from a more critical perspective. If it's good content, I'm in.
Really interesting that you put Fenrir Greyback as number 1 and I have to say you convinced me. I never really considered the horror of what he did I think because people like Bellatrix and Voldemort were so powerful both in ability and position of dark witches and wizards. Greyback isn't either, he is just a werewolf and isn't even a proper Death Eater, but it's worth noting being less powerful than Voldemort doesn't make him less evil given how horrifically predatory he was versus Voldemort's mechanical, almost logical killings.
I agree with your take on Snape. After I finished reading the books the first time I thought maybe Snape wasn't so bad after all and he was only pretending to hate Harry. But then I read the books again and realized no he did truly hate Harry and was so mean to Hermione and Neville. He never got over the bullying from Harrys dad and his friends. He was blinded by hate.
Snape hated Neville so much because he was the second boy in the prophecy, which means if Voldemort had chosen to go after Neville rather than Harry, Lily would still be alive. To Snape, Neville was a living reminder and representation of his guilt from revealing the prophecy to Voldemort and the potential alternative for what could've happened, and as a result, from Snape's point of view, Neville embodied all of this and that made him detest and bully him.
The reason why Snape hated Harry is because Harry is a Potter. Even if Harry didn't look like his father, even if Harry was a girl, or even if Harry was sorted into Slytherin, his relationship with Snape WON'T CHANGE. Snape hated the Potter family/bloodline (anyone related to James) with a burning passion. If Snape was still alive he would still have been an a\*\*hole to Harry and he would've treated Harry's children (especially James) like crap.
Snape hated and bullied all non-Slytherin students, particularly Gryffindors, but Neville and Harry (and sometimes Hermione) were his 'special targets'. I'm sure that if Snape had survived the Battle of Hogwarts then he would've treated all of Harry's children (especially James) and Teddy Lupin as his own 'special targets'. Snape wasn't the type of person to forgive and forget if anybody annoyed him, he tended to hold grudges and was extremely spiteful toward those whom he disliked like the pathetic man-child that Snape is.
James and his friends were the first ones to start bullying Severus. Severus was a good man and he really loved Lily. Even if Lily didnt love him back, they should have at least been friends
@@baccoony9148 Snape losing his friendship with Lily was nobody's fault but his own. Snape was a racist Death Eater nazi through and through, and he had no problems with it until he got Lily endangered (and eventually killed). James was a lot braver and ten times the person Snape ever was. Unlike Snape, James was never bigoted and he always stood up for groups that were being discriminated against (e.g. werewolves and muggle-borns) and for the poor. Instead of being a Death Eater like that low life Snivellus, James became an Order of the Phoenix member to stop Death Eaters like Snivellus Snape, and to protect discriminated groups like Lily and Remus. Snape isn't the innocent saint that you desperately try to make him out to be. I would rather be a bullying jock than a racist Death Eater.
@@baccoony9148 snape was never a good man, maybe as a child (even as a child you can see the way he talks about the muggles is very suspicious), but not in Hogwarts as his friends were all future death eaters and he never denied when Lily asked if after school he and his friends would join Voldemort. Also, she told one of Snape friends did something bad with Maria and Snape said "it was only a joke" so he was a bully too.
Indeed. A lot of people don't understand that. Even Harry said that he was the bravest man he ever knew. Btw Voldemort is by far the most evil villain ever.
I completely agree with the number one, this guy scared the hell out of me the whole time I read the series. The guy literally checks all the boxes for completely twisted and messed up villain, serial killer/terrorist, eats people even when not a werewolf, takes joy in killing, and oh did I forget to mention the fact that he seems to enjoy tormenting and murdering children more than anything, yeah this guy is just a monster. However if there’s one character I would definitely change in ranking it would be Fudge, this guy should be higher… Even if we’re just going by the books look at all the damage this guy caused. I would argue his inaction led to the severity of the second war.
You real changed my perspective on some of these characters. Before this video if someone asked me who the most evil character was my automatic response would be Umbridge or Voldemort maybe Bellatrix. I never actually gave Greyback a second thought but now it's made me think more about it. Well done and great video!
Draco Malfoy would have been way better if they actually portrayed what was in the novel. They cut off alot from Draco's character plus that role was never for Tom Felton as he is such a nice guy. But Umbridge on the other hand did such a good role and Bellatrix Lastrange was also portrayed beautifully 👏
@@robertbilling2416 yes and they also couldn't utilise David Tennant the actor that plays Barty Crouch Jr. He would have been so much better but they gave so few lines and cutting the part where he get's Dementors kiss and how he met his fate was actually terrible

Gilderoy Lockhart should definitely have been on this list. He made a career out of wiping people’s memories and taking credit for their achievements, and he was willing to completely erase the minds of two 12 year old boys just to save face
I feel Gilderoy Lockhart should be on this list he straight up made a whole lot of people forget who they were and stole there lives. And he was going to do it to Ron and Harry.
There is a difference between being a coward and being evil, this list is for people who enjoy making people suffer, find pleasure in horrible acts. Finally someone agrees with me about Greyback. Voldemort had a villainous rationale to his thoughts (tragic childhood, bad relationships with Muggles, familial mental health issues). Greyback purposely went out of his way to murder children just to satisfy his feral impulses, and was implied to have a sexual interest in his victims (his creepy comments about Hermione and stalking children at night in bed heavily hint at being a sexual predator)
"Voldemort had a villainous rationale to his thoughts (tragic childhood, bad relationships with Muggles, familial mental health issues)." this is not the main reason why Voldemort is evil, it is because Voldemort cant feel love or know the sense of love because Voldemort was born from a mother and father who used a love potion, basically tom riddle the muggle did not even have a love for Voldemort's mother she used love potion in order to that, unfortunately she became pregnant with Voldemort and because of love potion was used Voldemort never was able to sense love
@@BadrMoshayathat is not confirmed. There is a lot of evil people in the real world and harry potter, and it has nothing to do with love potions. After all, not everyone is born of parents that are in love (especially people born from a certain crime), and this dont mean they are evil. So people can be evil and good, independent of the father and mother love for one another. Voldemort is the way he is because in the orphanage he was basically a god, a child with magical powers that could bully other children. So he always felt superior and without a equal, in the world of magic he wanted to pursue that even further, to be even above other wizards. So Voldemort is evil because he believes himself to be superior, not because of love potions or because he was mistreated.
I'd actually place Dudley a bit less evil than you did because we also have to consider that his behavior was encouraged by his parents and that he never really learned from them that his behavior was wrong. When he matured he relised through that he had done wrongnand that reliasation is the basis for Harry and him actually staying in contact (I doubt it was the case with Vernon and Petunia). Petunia meanwhile, while she does have a backstory, could have been fully aware that what she is doing is wrong. Also I would place Morfin lower because even through he was a violent person, we do know that his family is one of the most inbred in the wizarding world and judging from his characterisation we can suspect that his cognitive abilities are rather limited. Also, while he was violent, he never, as far as we know, went out to kill someone. To severely hurt, yes, but not killing. Also, I would again raise the point of him simply being taught that violence was okay as his father shared the same traits and encouraged them in his son. Since Morfin didn't have much contact with the outside world, he most likely couldn't have relised that his ways are wrong given his suspected mental disabilities.
u hated her more than Voldemort, but he’s going off in the wizarding world, if ur a normal wizard who gets taught by umbridge, you would choose voldemort the murderer
If you included Kreacher, where do you think he would rank? He technically betrayed Harry and the Order of the Phoenix and got Sirius Black killed, but he realized the error of his actions, redeemed himself, and became loyal to Harry.
I would’ve ranked Kreacher somewhere around Narcissa and Draco Malfoy. They all did some pretty horrible things that resulted in others being harmed, but all three had redemption arcs in the end. I think what Kreacher did was probably worse than what Narcissa or Draco did, but he also had a stronger redemption in the end, as the Malfoys were still in it for themselves (and each other), but Kreacher became loyal to Harry and showed tremendous bravery and courage and strong leadership.
@@sparklefulpaladin Let’s not forget that Kreacher was very loyal to Regulas (Sirius younger brother) and attempted to destroy Slytherin’s locket, a horcrux, for almost 2 decades after him and Regulas retrieved it from the cave.

I hate when people use the concept of redemption so half heartedly. No ,committing horrible crimes for years then doing one tiny good deed is NOT “ redemption.”
I'm sure somebody might've said this by now, but I'm surprised Percy Weasley wasn't on this list, at least below the Top 25. Yes, he did eventually redeem himself and yes, he was a very by-the-books kind of wizard, but he did a lot of wicked things prior. He turned his back on his family, repeatedly broke his mother's heart (even shut the door on her face), acted as Fudge's stooge, alienated people who once called him friend, or at the very least was on good terms with like Harry Potter, and skipped out on Bill and Fleur's wedding. What an asshole.
I wouldn't call Percy evil by any means, when you consider the implications of some of the things his parents said it is very understandable why he would turn his back on them. After all they did imply, he didn't get his position in the Ministery though his on merit and hard work and also implied that they believed he would be willing to spy on them for The Ministery. So, in my opinion he every right to be furious as his parents, I know I would be if I were him.
@@firelight3219 True to a point, however, Percy was still the brown-nosing type where if Fudge told him to jump he'd say, "How high?" or something like that, so if Fudge indirectly told him to spy on his family, I wouldn't put it past him.
Well… we have gone over on the books that Voldemort had an unusual amount of control over nagini, even for a parselmouth. This was because she was a horcrux, which gave Voldemort control, meaning she technically might have not done that stuff herself. Edit: if we’re considering cursed child canon, then we also know that Umbridge is a death eater, because it showed in the other reality where Voldemort won the battle of hogwarts
even in the atrocity that is the Cursed Child, Umbridge only became a Death Eater until well after Voldemort won the second Wizarding War. *EDIT* : and no, the Cursed Child isn't canon!
I don't believe Narcissa should have been on the list to be honest, as she was never a Death Eater, to my knowledge never killed anyone and is certainly not evil material. She loved her son Draco more than anything and had a soft place in her heart for her sister Bellatrix. I understand she stuck by her husband and allowed Voldemort to live in there home but honestly what else was she meant to do. In truth I understand she wasn't the nicest person in the world and was rather stuck up but that was just how she was raised, in the end she has a good heart full of love for her son and sister.
At first I was surprised to see Voldemort at number two and I wondered who could possibly be number one. But your explanation for Greyback being worse than Voldemort makes total sense.
The only one I disagree with was Dudley. I think the fact he was a young, spoiled child is why he was how he was, but he completely changed when he matured, surely shouldn't be above Petunia for me at all. She waited til death to not be a POS
I see what you're saying, but I think an adult that treats a child cruelly is worse than a child who was raised to think that was ok to do and then came to mature and change himself, I dunno it's probably subjective
Before this video started I knew Grayback was top 5. There’s so many death eater names that I forgot about but grayback was so insane I don’t think I’ll forget his name for a long time to come.
I agree on Greyback being number one, he's the only villain I am genuinely terrified of, and all the screwed up shit he's done (to me) is honestly worse than most of what Voldemort has done
i mean idk mass genocide, torturing, punishing and killing people simply because of their race is still pretty bad, Fenrir is only seemed to be worse because he had no motive for his killings while Voldemort did, though they were not understandable motives. I'd say they're equal if anything on the scale of being evil.
Where is Rabastan and Rodolphus. They tortured Neville’s parents without mercy for an unspeakable amount of time. They should be at least top 20, let alone on the list
Nah. Those aren't Slytherin traits. If anything, I could see Ravenclaw. He was smart enough to make the map and become an animal. He was never someone who wanted to be front and center like Slytherins or Gryffindors, so Ravenclaw is a good fit.
Ok I’m gonna be honest. When I heard that Umbridge was 10, I thought “WHY ISNT SHE NUMBER 1!?” Then u remembered “oh wait, this is evil, not hated” Great video all around. I’ll be honest, you stunned me a lot with the rankings.
I'm a huge fan of your Harry Potter videos and this one was great! My only disagreement is that Umbridge should have been higher at least top five. She is the only one other than then Voldemort to leave a permanent physical mark on the hero. Her dictator like tactics are used first in a school on children then get worse as she gets more power.
Completely agree with what you said about Snape. I see so many people that seem to LOVE him completely ignoring just how horrible he actually was. If he didn’t love Lily then he wouldn’t have done any of the good things he did. He was brave but not a good person.
he was evil as he was a death eater, but in the end he made kreacher leave him to die and tried to get him to destroy a horcrux, therefore he no longer supported voldemort. not sure if he ever was on the good side tho
Snape was a good person because of his relationship and loyalty with Dumbeldore and his protection he gave Harry Potter even after he met Harry Potter and told Dumbeldore that he was just like his father whom he hated from first sight and how he try’s to protect Harry Potter from Dumbeldore’s plan of how Harry Potter was to be killed in the event’s of the halfblood prince. Also he grew to care for Harry Potter.
There's a lot of debate concerning "Who earned redemption?" in the Harry Potter fanbase but I've always felt that Snape did while a lot of others on this list didn't. Not because he protected Harry but because he made his life a living hell and spent all his mental energy on pretending he wasn't motivated by altruism.
exactly, everyone just calls him a good person just becuase he was really on the good side, but they forget how nasty he was towards his students, holding grudges towards harrry becuase of james
The reason people hate Umbridge so much more is because she's the type of person you could find almost anywhere. So many Umbridges exist in this world almost everywhere, and that's what makes her so much worse. She's the very realistic villain so many people come across in their lives, while the other more or less exist only for the story
@@miepmiep2274 well i think that jk rowling said that she kept the blanket that harry was in when he first came to her house which means she cared for him, and she let him stay at her house
Umbridge is still the most hated. I think that's mostly because her kind of evil behind a smile isn't uncommon. Being a megalomaniac (Voldemort) or a psychopath (Bellatrix) is somewhat rare.
I’m so happy for what you said about Snape. So many people seem to love him and give him a pass for all the other horrible things he did to innocent children
The thing that most people don't think about when they think about Salzar Sliverin is he grew up in a place were wizards of his kind were kild by muggels so it makes a littel sese that he did not want their ofsprings in their school that he worked so hard for. (But it is still wrong what he did)
Probably just me, but I think Merope Gaunt should’ve gotten an honorable mention on this list. While she’s definitely far more of a victim than a villain, she still did some pretty dark things, like when she brainwashed Tom Riddle into loving her, ripping him away from his girlfriend at that time, proceeding to make love to him in his brainwashed state (basically r*ping him), then refusing to go on in life even for her own son, basically ensuring him to grow into a sociopath. Although she did do all that out of desperation to feel loved, not for any evil in her heart, so it’s understandable why some might not consider her a villain, but I think her actions make her just villainous enough
Merope Gaunt is both victim and villain . I also believe that she planned a lot of her actions and even acting up in front of the minstery agent in front of her family on purpose. Umbridge should be higher up the list.
In my opinion Greyback and Bellatrix are the most evil closely followed by Umbridge. While the former two's motivation to inflicting harm was the harm itself and the joy of watching it Umbridge was rather subtle about it. Voldemort and Barty crouch would be next for me considering both of their Daddy issues . Peter
The whole time I was joking about how Voldemort wouldn’t get #1, but I didn’t expect him to actually not get #1. I do agree with you now that I heard your opinion.
Can u rank all of the animals from least to most powerful?? I love Harry Potter so much and love watching ur videos. It broadens my understanding and connection to the series.
I know who everyone gonna say is the worst DOLORES UMBRIDGE let’s see how you ranked it! Watching it now Edit: SPOILERS SHES NUMBER 10???? WHAT????????? I mean i see it, but most potterheads say she’s number 1. But you did a lot of research so I respect your opinion a ton.
She’s above a lot of murderers when she herself didn’t kill anyone. There’s no way she’s worse than the 9 in front of her, that’s just fans exaggerating what she did. I think her being in the top 10 is perfect
Umbridge is, out of everyone on this list, the most annoying and insufferable character. She was also evil and had no remorse for Muggle borns. But she didn't meddle in Dark Arts or kill anyone.
You rock man good work on everything. I don't think Dudley is that evil at all he should be further down on the list. Morphin Gaunt is the only character that they took out of the movies that I genuinely would have loved to see in the flicks.
Love your presentation, as usual. Very informative, interesting and captivating. I agree with your ranking list of villains. But I have a question: Percy Weasley? I think he could have been placed somewhere around Petunia Dursley's position. The reason I say that is for how he had forsaken his family, esp. breaking his mother's heart and aggravating Arthur, acting as if the whole family just didn't matter. From Book 2, when Ron caught Percy Weasley in a corner of the bookstore reading a book having to do with prefects who came to power and abruptly shooing Ron away so he could continue to focus on this book, that was one of the earlier clues about how ambitious he was going to be; how self-centered he would turn out to be. Book 4, Percy Weasley was practically brown nosing his way into Crouch Sr's good graces. Understandably, he wanted to make a brilliant impression with this being his first job ever but he was tone-deaf to realizing what a pompous fool he actually was. Then in Book 5, Percy Weasley proceeded to brown nose his way into Fudge's good graces, practically kissing the ground he walked on. He then wrote to Ron about ditching Harry for wrongly believing that the latter was a lying attention seeker along with Dumbledore being a fool by indulging Harry too much. Then once it was finally proven that Voldemort was truly back by the end of Book 5 and then all throughout Book 6, Percy wasn't man enough to go back home to apologize and make up for his mistreatment of his family and Harry along with his desertion. Percy's redemption comes toward the end of Book 7, just as the Battle of Hogwarts was about to get started. He finally met up with his family, confessing his idiocy, his stubbornness and he joined into the fight against Voldemort and his Death Eaters. He was deeply mournful of the loss of Fred. So that why I'd place Percy Weasley somewhere between Petunia Dursley's position and Dudley Dursley's position on this ranking list of villains.
Dumbledore was sickened at the mere sight of Greyback. I think I read somewhere that even some of the Death Eaters were disgusted by him (and not just because he was a werewolf).
I think Draco should be lower than people like Fudge or Filch. Most of his evil behaviour was the result of very bad parenting. He becomes a good person once he is able to see past his terrible upbringing
I agree with Morgan, Greyback is just a sick bastard who literally ATE humans as a human monster. Not going into much detail since Morgan did that in the video but seriously, Greyback is just a disgusting creature with no shame.
I was genuinely surprised at the beginning that why Gellert Grindelwald isn’t ranked higher than Lord Voldemort, because while the latter kills without a second thought and intends to eliminate muggles, the former intends to manipulate and control muggles and let them become insensitive, without knowing they’re brainwashed. It’s arguable sometimes (in my opinion) that brainwashing is worse than killing. It gives a person a fate worse than death.
The thing about Grindelwald is that he genuinely believes what he’s doing is best for the world. Is he power hungry and narcissistic? Yes, but he’s also trying to stop the holocaust, and has many things in his past that led him to think that muggles are inherently dangerous and need to be controlled.
i think umbridge should have at least been top five personally. She was deceitful and power hungry and was the only other person, besides Voldemort, to give harry a lasting scar. in fact, she gave him 17.
Hey, Morgan, I just wanna say that i completely love your work, and while i really love the Harry Potter vids, the thing that attracted me to your channel was your percy Jackson vids, and i can't help but notice we haven't had one of those in a long time, so, take your time, but I'd really love a percy Jackson vid
Kinda out of context, but I feel surreal to see the rank of Umbridge and Bellatrix, and thinking that Imelda Staunton (who portrayed Umbridge) is currently portraying the role of Queen Elizabeth II in The Crown season 5 and 6, while Helena Bonham Carter (who portrayed Bellatrix) had already portrayed Princess Margaret in the 3rd and 4th season of the show.

*I would place Dudley lower than Petunia because*
1. All of his negative qualities were very much instilled and nurtured in him whereas Petunia's grudge came from within herself. Dudley was TAUGHT that it's ok to bully Harry and was spoiled rotten from a very young age, and therefore
2. Petunia has a part in Dudley's despicable behavior being one of the parents who taught him all that. And
3. Petunia treated a child badly while being an adult, whereas Dudley when he grew up and started thinking for himself, changed his ways and became a better person.
Oh and Umbridge is #1
Plus dudley warmed up alot to harry near the end way more than petunia
Sorry I love Petunia so I disagree
@QS 26 I full heartedly agree!
*Wait where's Lockhart?*

Props for not shying away from including Snape, by the way. I know a lot of people - especially movie-only fans - who like to think of him as a heroic figure only, when he obviously was not.
Exactly my thoughts - glad to see Snape on the list.
I have read the books multiple times and have seen the movies although I see Morgan's point, I disagree. I don't think Snape should be on this list. Too each his own.
I fully agree with Grayback being the most evil. Voldemort had a plan while Grayback just did horrible things for the fun of it.
I think even some of the Death Eaters were sickened by Grayback's actions. Just goes to show that even evil has standards sometimes.

I have a theory, doctor who ensued the tardis to go to the Harry Potter universe
@@Seriouspugfellow Yes. I need a new Doctor Who episode :)))

Honestly, Dumbridge is way worse
@@beatriceretops no she isn't. You're only saying that because you had a bad teacher in your life.

DUMBRIDGE SHOULD NOT BE TENTH
@@beatriceretops I guess comparing totalitarianists with racist gangsters is not the most direct.
Uh, Dudley should be ranked lower than Fudge, Griphook and Filch
#1 DoLoREs uMBriDgE
What did you do making Umbridge TENTH!
So ture

All is okay but can we please leave out the 'pink' factor here? Might sound as a bit of a stretch but it is sexist :)
I watch that video and I almost also watched another video from somebody else which explained why umbridge was more hated because her awful things were personal to us and to the protagonist and everyone and like in a way voldemort's way more distant like yeah he's off in the background killing people but you know he only ever shows up at the end of the book for a good climax and even though his relationship with Harry is kind of personal one Harry can barely remember the actual thing that said all this stuff off and two again he only shows up at the end of each book He's a distant threat not a personal one making your individual life hell
It's kind of like how to some people one huge problem even as bad as a thousand tiny little inconvenient problems that make every second awful all compiled in one
Hence why the last evil one is hated even more
I think part of why Nagini became so evil was because she became a horcrux.

Harry Potter Sequel Idea:
After Voldemort’s death most death eaters are rounded up and placed in prison, however one person is not apprehended, Fenrir Greyback. Greyback spends the next 15 years growing his army of werewolves just in time for Albus Potters time at hogwarts. Greyback and his army of Werewolves start the 3rd wizarding war.
Great Idea! They should have made this instead of the Cursed Child
Awesome idea!
Greyback look more promising as HP villain than voldemort stupid daughter
I like some of the villains it just goes to show that the actors and actresses know what they are doing and that they are really good at acting
@@paulyb7267 Yeah Snape called Lily a Mudblood just because he was humiliated, but that doesn't excuse the fact he called her that
@@baccoony9148 snape was never a good man, maybe as a child (even as a child you can see the way he talks about the muggles is very suspicious), but not in Hogwarts as his friends were all future death eaters and he never denied when Lily asked if after school he and his friends would join Voldemort. Also, she told one of Snape friends did something bad with Maria and Snape said "it was only a joke" so he was a bully too.
You know there are some real bad people on this list, when Lucius Malfoy is only rank #21
I still would not rank Snape that high. Man who literally sacrificed everything in behalf of his love one.
THANK YOU!! He is most definitely the freakiest, I agree so much!!
With Fudge, I think he's fine where he is, he's stupid and a coward, not evil.
Dude literally ate children. Can't get more evil than that.
True
They did the same with Snape. J.K Rowling told Alan Rickman why Snape hated Harry so Alan played him with less malevolence.
@@robertbilling2416 yes and they also couldn't utilise David Tennant the actor that plays Barty Crouch Jr. He would have been so much better but they gave so few lines and cutting the part where he get's Dementors kiss and how he met his fate was actually terrible

And the deathly hollows part two when Harry supposedly dies in Voldemort says Harry Potter is dead when Draco goes to his parents there was originally going to be a scene when Draco runs back to Harry and drop his one and says Harry Potter and try to stop The battle
Before the end, I was like, what about fenrir tho? And once voldy was said, I was like, it can’t be, but it was!
Gilderoy Lockhart should definitely have been on this list. He made a career out of wiping people’s memories and taking credit for their achievements, and he was willing to completely erase the minds of two 12 year old boys just to save face
And to let a 11 years old girl die.
Lockheart is a liar and a coward but it is openly stated that memory charms are his only real talent, and his actions are driven by selfish desperation, but he is not evil, not really.
Reeta skeeter too
@@joshz2491 - how is actively and deliberately ruining the lives of other people for your own benefit, or as you call it, out of "selfish desperation", multiple times not evil? Lockhart has seriously hurt other people in cold blood only to get rich and famous. For me, that's not much better than hurting others for pleasure. That's also very evil. This, as the title says, is the list for evil people, not just for people who enjoy torture- that's not the only type of evil.
@@joshz2491 selfish desperation is exactly what leads the worst psychopath to do what he does. Joker is so selfish that he wants everyone to see things his way. I agree with your perspective about Snape. He never changed which is the reason why Lily didn't gave him a second chance. That personality of Snape personally haunted me because I could have been like Snape if I didn't change or cling in the past and hold grudges.
She didn't give Snape another chance because he called her Mudblood which is an absolute horrific insult
@@racheltang2646 it's part of it. But Lily is an amazing woman. All she tried to do on Snape is to let go of hate. She's there for him to lean on but Snape never listen to her. Lily never even bother retaliate to Snape in a terrible way even after that Mudblood incident. She left Snape to learn his mistakes on his own.
Snape calling Lily a mudblood was the final straw for her.
@@josephanthonyleone2793 Lily was flaky and wouldn’t have been able to stand a moment when confronted with real darkness, by the time she died she had no real friends. Sirius and Lupin were James’s friends almost never speaking of her as anything but James’s wife and girlfriend and the only thing Order members could say about her was that Harry had her eyes. She completely disregarded Snape’s feelings about Lupin even after he had almost been killed by him and had the gall to support James who frequently bullied him after the fact meanwhile the only ones who were actually supporting Severus were the Death Eaters.
@@krisynthiagomez5883 You forget where it explicitly mentions that Snape and James consistently went back and forth, and the James was actually the one to save Snape from Lupin himself. Lily wasn't "flaky", and even when confronting Snape ( while still being his friend and not Jame's! ) about his friends enjoying using Dark Magic, especially against muggle-borns, Snape shrugged her off. Of course that would bother her! We also never have any proof Lily didn't have friends, you're just making shit up lol. In the book SIRIUS LITERALLY HAS A LETTER IN HIS BEDROOM FROM LILY!!! James also bullied Snape BEFORE the werewolf incident, not after, and again, Snape and James went back in forth. If James was a bully, Snape was also a bully. You Snape apologists really be reaching for fucking straws
I’d put Dumbledore on this list. He wasn’t ”evil” but was kind of an asshole at times

If you included Kreacher, where do you think he would rank? He technically betrayed Harry and the Order of the Phoenix and got Sirius Black killed, but he realized the error of his actions, redeemed himself, and became loyal to Harry.
Hell, he even led the House Elves of Hogwarts to battle against Voldemort's Army in the 2nd half of The Battle of Hogwarts!!

Im pretty sure that a person is a civilized being with a complicated language, which makes goblins people.
He may be an asshole..... But that does not make him evil. He was just blinded by the ministry.

Narcissa perfectly deserve the spot she got on the list, she's super racist, and cruel
you always go by the books which is what I like about you and the channel 🙂
At first I was surprised to see Voldemort at number two and I wondered who could possibly be number one. But your explanation for Greyback being worse than Voldemort makes total sense.
The only one I disagree with was Dudley. I think the fact he was a young, spoiled child is why he was how he was, but he completely changed when he matured, surely shouldn't be above Petunia for me at all. She waited til death to not be a POS
Oh no, she left the baby blanket to Harry, a final tribute to her sister. She loves her sister but never told Vernon about it
I see what you're saying, but I think an adult that treats a child cruelly is worse than a child who was raised to think that was ok to do and then came to mature and change himself, I dunno it's probably subjective
wow! never thought of greyback as the first on the list, but you convinced me!
i love watching ur vids they make me happy when im sad keep up the great work man!!

Nah. Those aren't Slytherin traits. If anything, I could see Ravenclaw. He was smart enough to make the map and become an animal. He was never someone who wanted to be front and center like Slytherins or Gryffindors, so Ravenclaw is a good fit.

Opinions on regulas black?
he was evil as he was a death eater, but in the end he made kreacher leave him to die and tried to get him to destroy a horcrux, therefore he no longer supported voldemort. not sure if he ever was on the good side tho
He didn’t care for Harry he cared for Lily
There's a lot of debate concerning "Who earned redemption?" in the Harry Potter fanbase but I've always felt that Snape did while a lot of others on this list didn't. Not because he protected Harry but because he made his life a living hell and spent all his mental energy on pretending he wasn't motivated by altruism.

The reason people hate Umbridge so much more is because she's the type of person you could find almost anywhere.
Peter
Umbridge is nowhere close to voldemort, crouch jr, Greyback and bellatrix

He realised his mistakes and was welcomed back by his family since he was ashamed of his actions
I forgot how violent and blood hungry Greyback was!
Rita skeeter reminds me of twitter you already know why
Grindelwald is perfect crowd manipulator while voldemort is deranged pshycopath who have band of psycho followers .
Morgan, would you ever consider doing a video analysing Harry Potter fan theories and determining if they are true or not based on your opinion?
i think umbridge should have at least been top five personally. She was deceitful and power hungry and was the only other person, besides Voldemort, to give harry a lasting scar. in fact, she gave him 17.

Fun fact: marge was actually the actor of miss trunchball from the movie matilda! The voice, the face matches her.
