Hey, I'm in class 12th arts. I originally did 11th science but couldn't handle the stress and personal issues, so I repeated 11th with arts. That's when I got interested in psychology. I wanted to be a psychiatrist but found out it requires an MBBS degree, so I decided to aim for clinical psychology instead. Now, I'm torn between psychology and hotel management. I love cooking and have skills in it, but I also enjoy giving advice and listening to people, which makes me think I'd be good at psychology. However, I'm worried about committing to a PhD in psychology because I'm an average student who can only study for about one to two hours a day. My grades are okay (76% in 10th, 87% initially in 11th, then 66% in final 11th exams). I understand some psychology theory but lack practical skills, while my cooking interest is strong but not deeply knowledgeable.I'm also concerned about the long time commitment for a PhD in psychology and the impact of AI on jobs. Hotel management is a shorter course (5-6 years), but I'm unsure about both paths. Can someone help me decide?
See even I am a student who is in fyba now I gave 11th & 12th both from arts and even I want to become clinal psychologist from 12th my interest in psychology got higher. So basically as you said you hardly studies for 1-2 hours right so i suggest you (awasthi sir) he teaches so well you can watch his online videos like it will be more understanding and easy to understand and he teaches in very friendly way like he is the reason I scored 74 in psychology subject in 12th so I will suggest you to go for it and if you ask about hotel management or clinical psychologist both have scopes and competitions in their own fields like yes there is competitions everywhere you just need to understand and make sure what you wanna do and yes whatever you will choose stick to it till last.......(Don't give up and all the best )

I like to help people out emotionally in tough situations and they say I give pretty good advices as well so yeah!! And I too can't study straight for more than 2 hours (except in exams lol). Though I'm in 10th, much younger than you and prolly w less knowledge and experience but as far as I've understood, you need to be emotionally very strong for being a psychologist as you would have to deal with people's traumatic experiences and can have to work in irregular hours etc. Whereas in hotel management you need to have physical stamina and patience as it requires a lot of labour and with no festive holidays. But every field requires hard work regardless. You can choose anything acc to ur potential and don't forget one can pursue anything if they're determined so all the best!!! Hope this helps.

You also need license in that country to do that, which means you have to apply for masters or a psyD program and they don't accept Indian's BSc since its a 3 years couse. In US, it's more complicated becaue you have to get license according to the state. Thirdly, you're look a 9 years without an earning abroad. If you do it in India, you will be unpaid for 5-7 years (with Phd another 3-4 years). And getting supervisor is not easy while you're training, you will be paying for all of it. It's one of the most expensive and time taking courses in the world, you will never be able to make up for all the time, money you spent in academia until your late 30s just like othe rmedical professionals, and even then your highest salary is mediocre.
