Great video on a less-covered topic. What you really need to add is a camera angle and split screen that shows your pedal settings as you change them. Thanks!
Love most all your videos but really enjoyed this one! As a beginner (whose been trying to learn guitar but adulting and life keeps getting in the way) this was really helpful to hear the differences and what might be possible one day on my Taylor. Thank you guys for the awesome content you put out. I watch (or try to) them all and have learned so much! Thank you! PS. And I think there is a real need for more of this pretty basic stuff for a large audience of folks trying to learn but don't have much time. DO MORE for we simpletons please and thank you!
There’s a lot of discussion on various media, talking about the effect of running an acoustic guitar with a pick up system, into an electric guitar amplifier. The suggestion is that an acoustic guitar sounds thin, and basically not satisfactory. Most commentator will tell you that an acoustic guitar sounds better, when amplified through an acoustic amplifier. So, the question that comes to mind; what happens when you place a pedal, for example, a DI, or an EQ, or effects Reverb, Delay, Chorus between the acoustic guitar and an electric guitar amp? The amplifier is receiving a signal from the pedal, not the acoustic guitar.
Hey there.Love the channel thanks so much for the great posts! I have a Taylor T5 z and wondered if you had a recommendation for a drive pedal for that particular guitar. Just want to add a little grit sometimes.
Gotta have Tap Tempo on my Delays. I do: classic rock, funk/r&b, pop, reggae & dub. I use a Boss DD-500 . . . it does Every Delay-sound on the planet. I also us a Big Sky with my Acoustic too. Nice stuff here Chris. Always informative. oNe LovE from NYC
Hey Chris, I always enjoy your videos. I have a RUclips channel and I definitely need to upgrade the quality of video and audio. What kind of camera do you use and what kind of mic are you using? I would appreciate your input. Thanks and keep up the good work
Thanks again Chris. I keep buying effects and have no idea how to use them. I have a Fishman Loudbox Artist with effects. Now I’ll play with them intelligently. (I hope)
Thanks Chris I've been looking for a vid like this for awhile. I've been using pedals for long time. Playing Tak 12 for P&W team. Also some gospel group music. Presently I run Pigtronics compression (first pedal ever) Boss reverb, tremelo, chorus, blues driver. Typically run through the board at church. Pit band work with electrics and acoustic guitars all run through the same pedal set up, and an AC15 and Fender Acoustisonic. Like you from time to time I'm with out my key board and bass player. It changes what we do to help the singers sound good. Which is my job. Compression was my first pedal. It really helped to "squeeze" the 12 string and sustain better. Thanks for the vid!
Thanks Chris. I was looking for a link to that pedal or the one you use. You might even have it on your Pelican channel. And I'm looking for that 2 foot pedal looper also. Thanks
.. Delays are great ...the problem is you need a different delay setting for , rhythm , solo's ... various tunes ...and personally I have enough going on , on stage ...to be dealing with delay tap dancing ...but good video
I've been doing this for years I have two tube amplifiers one of em is a homemade echosonic amp that has a 12au7 preamp tube that me and my grandpa built and my other tube amp is a Gibson ga5 LP reissue tube amp that has a 12au7 preamp tube I don't like SS amps At all I use these amps with my homemade electric acoustic guitar that has a undersaddle pickup my grandpa built completely from scratch it's a unique shaped guitar I play country rockabilly and bluegrass and blues I use classic s strings there acoustic flatwounds strings but yeah that's my whole rig
Perfect timing. I’ve just been considering adding delay to my acoustic . Just not sure if this will be too much in a live worship setting when you have keys and electric guitar using effects too. ?!
Never too much. Jesus wants you to have a delay pedal. Tape delay is amazing on acoustic, digital delay sometimes too bright. Tone knob is helpful as is a mix knob. El cap and volante rule . I’m also a fan of chase bliss
I was with you right up until you said Strymon. I have tried their products with unacceptable results. Sure, you can dial in the exact sound you desire in your bedroom or studio. And if that's your solo musical realm, you're all set. The problems begin when you take ANY Strymon pedal, or for that matter, ANY other IR based modeling device out into the gigging world. EVERY venue is vastly different from others when it comes to room acoustics, resonant frequencies, and reflective surfaces near the stage. On the fly pedal adjustments are ALWAYS needed from room to room. With Strymon pedals, and all other IR modeling gear, you have little or no immediate, hands on access to your tone and sound while you're on stage performing. To get adequate control, you must connect a laptop and get neck deep into the software. NO THANKS! That's a deal breaker for me EVERY time. For quick and complete control of my sound while I'm performing, I use mostly analog effects with a few digital pedals. In general, if I see a USB port on a pedal, I'm not interested.
Way too much delay for acoustic acoustic is a leading instrument a percussive instrument if there’s any delay, it needs to be in the very tales same with Reverb. Too many acoustic guitar players use effect to cover up their inadequacy of not being able to play well. Let’s go and find guys OK let’s go right at Tommy Emmanuel. That dude does not need to use any effects. I’ve used a little chorus on my acoustic guitar on a worship team. If I’m just outlining chords not playing percussively it can work but not much other than chorus delay should not be used.
dude you should have you playing with delay right at start of video to hook your viewers - having the ident and telling people to visit store gives zero value to people especially those new to your channel- its’ a long wait for the interesting part
Great video on a less-covered topic. What you really need to add is a camera angle and split screen that shows your pedal settings as you change them. Thanks!
I never knew that delay can produce the echo I wanted on my acoustic guitar. This is exactly what I was looking for. Thanks alot ❤😮😊🎉

Yes, what he said. Thanks!
Word
Great presentation, brother. Well organized, informative, pleasant to view. Kudos and thanks
Those chords are so pretty with the delay. Thanks once again for the info Chris! Love the sounds produced with that pedal.
Excellent demonstration and advice, your explanation regarding electric guitar amps and acoustic amps was very clear also.
Great video! Just recently got into delay, learning all the time. I have a Timeline and a RE 202. Using them on vocals too.
exactly the kind of video I was looking for, but I would want to see the pedal as well and see what you are tweaking along the way

My Johnny Cash comes alive with effects...
Especially in drop D !
Delay , Chorus , Reverb , Compression , Light Gauge Strings , Tuned To Key Of D ..... 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🎼🎼🎼🎼🎼☮️🎆
Great video! Was going to get that K&K transducer pickup for my acoustic and was wondering if I could use my electric guitar effects pedals?
Can’t wait for the fuzz video
Time to come with the reverb video! Loved this!
Very thorough, very helpful. Thanks!

Excellent demo vid. I am currently in the market for some pedals and this video couldn't come at a better time. Thanks, Chris.
El cap and the volante are amazing for acoustic. Consider chase bliss thermae or tonal recall for analog repeats which are warm and subtle
Wasted 9 minutes to finally get to some useful info!!!! Starts at 9:20. Good Lord!!!!
Nice options!! What model Taylor is that? It sounds wonderful!

Thank you so much for this! These are exactly the kind of videos I enjoy (need). 😉
I would add if you are trying to do rhythmic play, dotted 8 helps. Make sure your delay has a mix or blend knob. Thanks for the video
Recently bought an LR Baggs Align Series Delay (tailored for Acoustic)
Would it be possible to get some more interesting sounds on this one?
I would love to see you demo some acoustic effects that add more grit.
Amarillo by morning, up from San Antone...
Thanks Chris. I was looking for a link to that pedal or the one you use. You might even have it on your Pelican channel. And I'm looking for that 2 foot pedal looper also. Thanks
What pedals would you recommend for 12 string?
.. Delays are great ...the problem is you need a different delay setting for , rhythm , solo's ... various tunes ...and personally I have enough going on , on stage ...to be dealing with delay tap dancing ...but good video
I'm 100% on your team. I enjoy pedals at home. But at a gig I'm pretty busy.
Beautiful! Great!
But so you have connected the guitar Direct into delay pedal and the output of the pedal Direct into the guitar input of the ampli?
Mind me asking which brand of guitar your playing? Thanks.
Which pedal you are using ?
Love Alamo music center
Really good stuff
Great demo, but it would have been nice if there was a second camera pointing down to the pedal so we could see what you are changing.
Thank you brother :)
Can you do a video on using reverb with an acoustic guitar?
I've been doing this for years I have two tube amplifiers one of em is a homemade echosonic amp that has a 12au7 preamp tube that me and my grandpa built and my other tube amp is a Gibson ga5 LP reissue tube amp that has a 12au7 preamp tube I don't like SS amps

Im a total noob in effects - how do you convert an acoustic guitar to be compatible with pedals and amps to begin with -do we need a pickup?
Perfect timing. I’ve just been considering adding delay to my acoustic . Just not sure if this will be too much in a live worship setting when you have keys and electric guitar using effects too. ?!

Love it 🤙
How about the Strymon Flint for acoustic, Chris? Multiple reverb and tremolo settings seem like a natural choice.
Look into jam pedals monk, unbelievable on acoustic. Warmer and more organic than flint
UA reverberator much better for acoustic. Cleaner, fuller, almost feels like it’s not on but is.
J'utilise une strymon Cloudburst pour mon acoustique guitare.

Whats the pedal?
Does it make sense for ONE player using delay while other does not?(2 players)
Your delays might fight each other. If you are doing slap back dotted eight not a big deal
He could be Andy McKee's brother!
Good video-p
If you want to sound like a 90s pub guitarist, be my guest
The delay cuts immediately when turned off, if your playing live this is a noticeable problem ,, !
Good video, but would be far better if you were showing how you set the pedal, that's a pity.
wow...$379 for that delay unit. yikes.

is this dude related to Andy McKee?
Think about U2 . They sound like a 6 man band
18 minutes and he doesn't say why this should be different than "how to use delay on electric guitar"
Are you Andy's brother
Fast forward 7 minutes to even get close to any guitar playing
The first rule for delay and the acoustic guitar is - don’t.

he's not wrong...
Too much talk..

Great, but please focus on the sound of the effects, waaaayyyy too much talking
Seriously, how bout you get to the demonstration and stop talking!
Talk less, play more.
blah blah blah, i dont own el capitan, blah blah
