The new BYD hybrid is doing over 2000km range. This goes to show how long the ICE car makers had been sleeping with the oil companies and competition is desperately needed.

@@aliruz4800 I think most big brand try to play safe with the design, while china dare to design out of the box because they just started, look at bugatti, they do the same also. I think I prefer Koenigsegg or pagani, they design car better than Ferrari or bugatti or Lamborghini, but this is juat my taste, yours maybe different.
The current supercar manufacturers don't seem to understand that the number 1 reason we like these cars is simply the way it looks. Lamborghini, Ferrari and even Pagani have all lost their looks, but this is the best looking car I've seen since the Zonda.
Looks 100x better than the monstrosity the F80 came out to be. Never could I have imagined that a random Chinese car company would come up with a more beautiful design than the flagship Ferrari.
I have never thought Chinese EVs will get into supercars-hypercars. But no, it just happened. Yangwang U9, Xiaomi SU7, and this! European racing brands dragging their feet into electrification. It will be over by the time come out with an EV supercar/hypercar
This truly looks like a hyper car. It already won the German Red Dot Design Award. Can you imagine having a hyper car like f80 and this turns up? I know this will be far cheaper.
HAHA. They went bankrupt about 2 weeks after this. It was very strange. At the auto show there was a lot excitement from the brand, designer and CEO. No notes of trouble, although we knew the Jiyue 01 hadn't been selling well. But everything came crashing very quickly. Rumours started swirling about a two weeks after the auto show on a Monday. By Wednesday it was done. I think because it was a JV between two huge companies, Baidu and Geely, I think many thought there may just be a restructure of management and reinvestment. But they both pulled the plug.
But the cause of Jiyue's hardship all happened from the Jiyue 01 (which I reviewed over on the Wheelsboy channel) In that review I said that when the Jiyue 01 was announced the spec list was top-notch. But by the time they actually got it to market everything else had caught up or surpassed it. Their city ADAS never truly got going and was never competitive with other Chinese City ADAS from the likes of Huawei, Xpeng, Li Auto or even NIO. Because of that slowness their products just weren't as competitive when they got to market, meaning no one bought them, meaning the company didn't make a lot of revenue, causing Baidu and Geely to burn cash supporting a snail.
For SUPER FAST EV ... Battery Discharge , Motor speed , Power Management and Suspension are required for HYPER PERFORMANCE. So far .... NONE of the LEGACY HYPERCAR manufacturers have any thing that can challenge BYD, Xiaomi or Xpeng.
This is going to be hand-built, fully customisable to the the buyer. So I thin the price will be extreme. And they'll take their little expensive toys and shove them in a place and never drive them

What most people don't know is that all the Chinese Car are designed mostly by _European Car Designers_ that see a potential big paycheck designing cars for the Chinese Car Industry. This is why all these Chineses car have all the looks of a European Design, cause it meant to be sold primarily to the European market. I love the logo design tho.
The lights around the Jiyue stand were all purple. Purple is Jiyue/Jidu's colour. Or at least it was. The company has gone under. Chances for it being saved are not looking good, and it took a nose dive very quickly.
Well I’m not sure that will happen. the first Chinese developed V12 was Hongqi’s V12TD and that was only last year…so not really much V12 options floating around
It's not a mock up, it's fully drivable Edit: sorry it's not known if it is fully drivable. There were discussions around it being able to be turned on, but how drivable this is I do not know. It's fair to call it a prototype model.
Sorry my mistake, discussion at the auto show with the team said it could be turned on and it is loud, but they didn't specify how functional the drivetrain actually is. I guess you can call it a mock up. And yes valkyrie & RB 17 vibes all over this.

Conversations I had lead me to believe it at least moves under it's own steam...but thinking about it now, it's unlikely there is a solid state battery already inside. However I believe the cooling system is working, since they said they originally wanted to turn it on, but were denied by the organisers "because it is too loud"
It’s not claiming the first with ADAS. It’s claim the first hyper or supercar using big model AI for ADAS and Autonomous racing. Could have made that clearer. And I’m pretty sure Rimac doesn’t have the same AI access and level of AI as Baidu.

It's true, although of the Chinese brands Geely does go racing, being very successful in the TCR World Tour. But to truly up the ante they need win some more higher profile races. With that said, once they go all electric, it will be hard to truely differentiate themselves outside of that! I also think the hyper car naming may go away! The closest you'll get it the V12DT from Hongqi a v12 turbo which launched in 2023. There is huge tax on large engines. ≤1.5 is no tax. Then 3.0 is the next stop. then 4.0L which is why Ferrari and others went with 3.9L turbos. Then ≤5.0 which almost all modern V10s are. As for sound. They wanted to turn it on for the unveiling. The organisers denied it cos apparently "it's too loud." Exactly what sound and how it makes it we aren't sure. But according to Frank Wu the American designer formerly of Cadillac, the thing is not like other EVs. It's not silent, there are vibrations and sounds from the drivetrain.
I wonder why make an electric car look exactly like a combustion engine supercar, Although you have endless possibilities you just want it to look like the "normal" one. it's not about numbers anymore, it's about the passion. btw quartz watches are way more accurate and efficient than mechanical super expensive watches, yet who buys the quartz watches ..exactly, poor people.
A lot of the design on a vehicle like this is going to be dictated by aero, creating downforce and stable air flow and weight distribution. There is similarities to mid-engined hypercars as I suggested in the video, but if you were to put one side by side you'd see they aren't exactly the same. The "mid mounted engine area" is actually a shallower and more elongated. But at a quick glance the recipe looks very similar.
