HAHA. They went bankrupt about 2 weeks after this. It was very strange. At the auto show there was a lot excitement from the brand, designer and CEO. No notes of trouble, although we knew the Jiyue 01 hadn't been selling well. But everything came crashing very quickly.
Rumours started swirling about a two weeks after the auto show on a Monday. By Wednesday it was done. I think because it was a JV between two huge companies, Baidu and Geely, I think many thought there may just be a restructure of management and reinvestment. But they both pulled the plug.

But the cause of Jiyue's hardship all happened from the Jiyue 01 (which I reviewed over on the Wheelsboy channel)
In that review I said that when the Jiyue 01 was announced the spec list was top-notch. But by the time they actually got it to market everything else had caught up or surpassed it. Their city ADAS never truly got going and was never competitive with other Chinese City ADAS from the likes of Huawei, Xpeng, Li Auto or even NIO. Because of that slowness their products just weren't as competitive when they got to market, meaning no one bought them, meaning the company didn't make a lot of revenue, causing Baidu and Geely to burn cash supporting a snail.

Name me a chinese V8 or V10...I'll wait. Once you've finished that search kind of answers that question. lol
As the Chinese fully embrace EVs, they aren't about to start development on a whole engine architecture they don't currently have! The closest you'll get it the V12DT from Hongqi a v12 turbo which launched in 2023. There is huge tax on large engines. ≤1.5 is no tax. Then 3.0 is the next stop. then 4.0L which is why Ferrari and others went with 3.9L turbos. Then ≤5.0 which almost all modern V10s are.
As for sound. They wanted to turn it on for the unveiling. The organisers denied it cos apparently "it's too loud." Exactly what sound and how it makes it we aren't sure. But according to Frank Wu the American designer formerly of Cadillac, the thing is not like other EVs. It's not silent, there are vibrations and sounds from the drivetrain.
