    Very good video... well explained. RE-holstering ISN'T a speed drill! Fast out, Slow and controlled in!!!

    • @Nikolai18A
      @Nikolai18A 4 года назад +4

      @Yoon Jun Sorry, but you are demonstrably incorrect. Irrespective of the scenario, there is virtually zero reason to reholster quickly.
      If you're at the range, calm down the Wick shit and be safe and methodical. In addition to safety, you're drilling that muscle memory; slow is smooth, smooth is fast.
      Second, if you're in a lethal force encounter, you shouldn't be in any hurry to reholster either; scan and assess, then reholster.
      The only scenario where an individual might holster in a quick fashion is law enforcement or related field, where you need to go hands on quickly. That's it. If there's a threat, your firearm should be pointed at it. If there is no threat, there's no reason whatsoever to not take your time and ensure a safe reholster.

    Great job...one more suggestion I have found makes all the difference in the world. Using a track type belt that you can adjust in increments instead of inches. I bought two KORE ESSENTIALS GUN BELTS and have not looked back and will not buy or use any other belt to carry in any fashion. They are absolutely as good as it gets. Being able to adjust your belt when you sit, then quickly tighten your belt when you stand is key.

    Excellent tips for people who are considering appendix carry but even better you showed and demonstrated the positions of the gun when bending at the waist and or sitting. Truth be told once you're seated and your back is straight and flat against the backrest the gun is in the exact same position as when you are standing during appendix carry. I'm not condoning or condemning appendix carry but just by default carrying a gun on your body is not 💯% comfortable 💯% of the time.

  • @Malehanger
    @Malehanger 4 года назад

    Yes, most of comfortable appendix carry comes down to a combination of things. The right gun, right holster and ride/carry height. Also, I always wear a thin under shirt even in tshirt/hot weather. Wear a thin, ribbed "A" shirt aka a "wife beater" shirt. Makes no difference in comfort with temperature, but it prevents rubbing and any pinching if you're using an all kydex holster like I do.
    If you're doing things right, you should be able to do everything you normally do not carrying. I can bend over to tie my shoes, sit normally, move normally etc. I can also wear pretty fit shirts. Not skin tight, but I don't have to wear a size bigger just because I carry. All benefits of carrying appendix with the right setup. Can't carry a gun on your back or especially your hip and say the same.

  • @likeashitremixit
    @likeashitremixit 4 года назад +1

    My EDC is an M&P Shield, even with a small gun like that it is difficult to bend and tie my shoes if need be, this seems like a lot of trade-offs just to be able to carry appendix, I would rather carry 4 o'clock because the probability of you needing to use your firearm is extremely slim, and although 4 o'clock is a second slower than appendix carry, you can still be comfortable during that 99% of the time you are not getting attacked.

    • @civilianstandards4755
      @civilianstandards4755  4 года назад +2

      Theres also tradeoffs for me when it comes to 4 o clock carry, which is how I started. Having to always be mindful of my gun being visible when I sit, or bend over was an issue for me, always having to keep my hand on my shirt and pulling it down. But i managed to find the magic for appendix carry for me so I'm happy with that! :)

  • @KuyaPow626
    @KuyaPow626 2 года назад +1

    Man I am here for the same reason! As soon as I was comfortable enough to forget I was carrying- as soon as I bent over I think the hi-guard of my kydex went right into my belly button xD And holy crap your draw was fast. Oh btw I hope that since this video that you've bought a Kore belt! They are phenomenal, I don't think I'm ever going to buy another brand. The Kore belt allows you to widen your belt IMMEDIATELY and discretely with a little ratchet button. Haha, oops. I commented this before getting to the end of your video.

      Are you serious? So when it's dark and you unholster your gun your not going to be able to efficiently put that gun back in your holster. When you pick your shirt up there is nothing there to get in the way of the trigger if there is your doing it wrong...

  • @thatoneguy454c

    Look while you holster. It doesn't matter how much you train and how comfortable you are with firearms. Just look, it can save your life or in the case of AIWB your future children. Not ripping on you, but I noticed that you only glance down and you slam your firearm into the holster. It only takes a bit of fabric to cause you a serious problem. Good tips though. When I first started appendix carrying the pain I got was on my hip bone or junk leg junction lol. I gad a very comfortable holster for the 4 o-clock but it did not work well for AIWB and I ended up with a nasty bruise.

    Thanks for the information. Texas just started constitutional carry and I’m thinking on appendix carry. I have a Rugar lc9s which I think will be good for this option. Overall length is 6 inches which I think will help with the comfort. Also have several Glock’s but think I will start with the lc9s until I get used to carrying never carried before but have been shooting for years and gun safety is number one. I will practice a lot to get use to unholstering and reholstering safely until I’m comfortable with it and before I ever leave the house with it. But thanks for the information.

    If you can manage to skip over ammo, I would invest in a Texas side car or Tier 1 Agis/Axis holster. I have a tier 1 agis holster and paid $156 after taxes and all. If you get the Agis in stock it's about $130-145 depending on taxes where you live. I know for a fact the Tier 1 alleviates much of the intestinal stabbing problem. Now, that being said:
    1. If you have a 300th parallel you do have to ride those pants lower, and go 2 sizes up on your pants. I would also consider placing velcro and a gel soft Sr. Sholls heel or soft padding on the inner portion of the holster. If you use the heel, DON'T AFFIXIATE THE HEEL WITH THE INNER PORTION FACING OUTWARDS! THE sweat will have that part sticking to you like crazy. If you're skinny, disregard, this is mainly towards heavier people
    2. If you have your holster cut to a mag extender, but carry the stock mag in its place, unless your skinny, you're getting gut checked.
    3. You can separate the mag carrier/holster
    4. The claw is VERY AGGRESSIVE and will do a lot of the work for you, by falling into place, and placing the holster within hip region comfortably
    5. The adjustment of the ride height is bar none
    6. Most people as the author of the video mentioned, or alluded to, forget the bigger thre gun, the more challenge it is to conceal
    7. Ultimately, many that have a Texas, Tier 1 or similar face stabbing themselves via sweat guard

    Great tips...question when you installed your Brownell slide. Did you use stock Glock slide kit?

    I have always carried between 3 n 4 o'clock then about a year ago I got a hidden hybrid holster and thought I found the one and as awesomely comfortable they are they don't do a good job if you have to bend over.
    The grip pokes out your backside by like 5 or 6 inches so I ordered a T1 Concealed aiwb axis slim maybe. I don't rember what it's called but the reason I ordered one is because I need to Conceale at work and I have to pick stuff off the ground quite often and keep hearing if it's done right the aiwb is the olny way to go.
    But I still have doubts.
    3 more weeks ish and my holster will arrive and I will see.
    For $160 shipped it better work or ill b pissed.
    Iv allready downsized to a p365xl and I don't want to go smaller so fingers crossed and wedge variety pack ordered...
    Honestly 12 wasn't enough and I olny got it cause I knew they had flush fit +2 mag extention and 14+1 is fine with me but more is better !!!

    Aiwb sucks and can be very uncomfortable but you did shed some light on the subject. I prefer aiwb. You have to be able to compromise to what you want.
    Good video
