We have actually had a new city in Pune for several years now, and it is called Pimpri Chinchwad. It was carefully planned and built with future considerations in mind. When you drive through Aundh, the car moves smoothly and swiftly with no speed bumps. The roads are spacious and well-developed.

In my opinion, Chakan-Moshi-Alandi areas will be the best location to setup New Pune due to the below major points:
    - Large parcel land availability
    - Road Connectivity to Pune via upcoming Pune Ring Road and Pune Nashik Expressway
    - High Speed connectivity to Pune Station via Pune Nashik semi high speed train.
    - Hinjewadi Chakan Metro
Due to these 3 points above, Chakan-Moshi-Alandi belt should witness high scale progress in future. However it all depends how quickly government starts and complete these infrastructure projects. Being second preferred city, Pune has always given less priority than Mumbai so not expecting a lot of infrastructure development to happen quickly.

Mr.Sharad Pawar contribute veey much than any politician in Maharashtra to build project like Hinjewadi SEZ, Other MIDCs around PUNE. Purandar area is best suited for New Pune. Below are reasons
    - Large non productive land
    - Low cost to buy and develop
    - Zero to neglible hilly areas ensuring straight, wide roads and perfect rectagular land plots
    - Proximity to new airport
    - Proximity to ring road
    - Purandar airport affected people can be easily relocated at low cost and low migration distance.
    - Enough areas to setup small, medium and large industries including IT.
    - Already a high speed road and RRTS is planned for connection with main Pune from new airport. Simply need to add capacity for new Pune city connection.
    - New airport will anyway have lot of financial activity giving financial independance to new city.

So already there is good development ongoing through Pune-Mumbai expressway and its behind areas , where flats cost is less then proper development areas. The thing is only how the roads and trnasport infrastructure can be developed in pune is challenge , rest pune is going good in real estate

Basic development has already been done hence the project can completed very easy, further it can cut investment on infrastructure development, except investment in Metro line upto Pune. Pune ka weather Accha hai but now it’s declining with over population over pollution.
Native states should work on their infra , environment, jobs to provide for the people.

Really shifting pune airport from khed chakan to purandar is a blunder. People
who don't know about pune are taking
the decision about the future development in pune. Actually expansion of present airport by acquiring more defence land is also
a good option. But the things are
to be discussed on higher level.

My view about Airport is , let the Airport remain where it is , convert it into 100% civilian Airport.
Give land to Air force to move lock stock and barrel to new place / any place which can be bought at much cheaper rates not necessarily in Pune only.
Allow Airforce to sell their land bank on commercial terms ,which will get them huge sum considering land cost in Pune. The Airforce's infra can come up from that amount in much better way and still money will be there to spend on other needs.
Yes this has to be done in phases . First the basic infra for A A rforce as per their need should be built and then start selling and shifting things. I think its possible.
