- Dholera Special Investment Region (DSIR) is a greenfield industrial planned city near Dholera in Gujarat's Ahmedabad district, around 100 kilometers to the south-west.[2][3] spread over more than 920 km2 it is a new industrial city being jointly developed by the Government of India and Gujarat. Dholera is strategically located, well connected with trade gateways and falls in the influence zone of proposed Delhi - Mumbai Industrial Corridor project (DMIC), a joint initiative by the Government of India and Japan.
A legal framework known as the Special Investment Region Act 2009 was made by the Government of Gujarat. A regional development authority for DSIR has been constituted in accordance with the act.[4] The Dholera Special Investment Region Development Authority (DSIRDA) would be in charge of managing government land within DSIR in addition to planning and developing DSIR. The Central Government (NICDC Trust) and the State Government (DSIRDA) of Gujarat have formed an SPV called Dholera Industrial City Development Limited (DICDL) to carry out the project.[5] A special purpose business called the National Industrial Corridor Development Corporation Limited (NICDC) was founded in order to create, support, and facilitate the development of the DMIC Project.[6]

कई साल तक इसका काम डिज़ाइन और बाक़ी सुधार की वजह से अटक गया था. ये सबसे लम्बा समय खींच गया. अब थोड़ा तेजी आयी है. ऐसे जीरो से शुरू कर बिलकुल नया शहर खड़ा करने की सोच ही गजब है. सबकुछ ही बनाना पड़ता है.

I wonder that they are making Ahmedabad Dholera expressway which would practically be empty for the next 10 years.
But they cannot make expressways on already heavy traffic routes in Gujarat like Ahemdabad-Rajkot, Bharuch-Dahej, Ankleshwar-Jhagadiya, Ahmedabad-Palanpur etc

Good capture but damn the development is super slow. Xiongan a green field smart city is being built in china and they have already achieved 3x more progress than us already. They have already built over 3000 units of homes. Bullet train stations and much more. Within 7 years of development starting. We have already spent a lot of time, in development of first phase alone. We need to allow developers to start building as quickly as possible. From what I remembered plots are pretty much sold in dholera already so why not give permission to start building? It will take 2-3 years to fully complete development of buildings and homes so might as well start.

No matter how developed this city is going to be, life will be indoors here mostly. In summer people will barely come out due to heat and humidity and in winters because of air quality like most northern states ( this anyways is going to be a manufacturing hub). Still I don’t mind a life like Dubai even if it’s hot, but that too will not happen here be because they will be no alcohol and no international diaspora and night life like Dubai. Only if life here is going to be very convenient and neat and Safe as in equally hot cities like Singapore and Dubai it would be worth living here.

Gujrat and Maharashtra government should think of building more of such cities along the Ahmedabad Mumbai corridor centred around to Vardawan port for export oriented industries like China has built in pearl river delta region around the Hong Kong port.
